For Bacterial Infection "Had a sudden dramatic tooth infection. Started clindamycin (to avoid penicillin) the day before the extraction, took it a total of 5 days, 300 mg capsules, four times a day. It took me a day to realize that the drug was causing my symptoms: high anxiety (really! Who knew??), headache, indigestion, shaky, weak. Incidentally, I was NOT told to take it with food. I took it for the 5 days, and, five days later, am almost but not quite back to normal. I finally figured out the drug was causing the symptoms, and my doctor agreed. But up till then it just felt as if I were going nuts. NOT fun. Not doing THAT antibiotic again!"

For Bacterial Infection "Severe headache. Feel like vomiting. Severe diarrhea. I stopped it the second day. Was 300mg x 2. I prefer to have my tooth extractions than to have all those side effects. My bowel was jumping all day. I think more research should be done on it. It's so dangerous."

For Deep Neck Infection "It cured my infection, but the side effects sent me to the hospital. I got chest tightness, severe heartburn, plus the severe pain of swallowing! My face flushed red. Excruciating headache for a short time at the hospital. Also nausea at times. The hospital thought it was a heart attack until it was ruled out. They didn't connect the clindamycin to be a problem. I will never take it again, as I also have IBS, and it didn't help. I only have 4 capsules left on the 28 RX."

For Bacterial Infection "Been taking for about two days, and it seems to be working, but the side effects are terrible. I feel tired and have a headache and pains in my chest area. Make sure to drink water and don't lie down for 10 minutes after taking it."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I was prescribed Cleocin for a MRSA infection of the skin. While the medicine began working within 2-3 hours, the side effects have been horrid! I've had fever and chills and feel like I have the flu times ten. My body aches, my head aches. I will be contacting my doctor as soon as possible to either come off or try something else. I don't care for the taste of Flagyl, but I'd take it any day rather than feel as bad as I do on this medicine!"

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I had a finger infection, so I was prescribed 300 mg 3x/day for 5 days. I took it with a cup of water and ate yogurt probably about 3-4 of those days. The doctor told me to eat yogurt every day. Everything went well. My finger started to heal and the skin peeled about 2 weeks after finishing the medication. About a week after I finished the pills, I started having soft stools every day. Now I’m 3 weeks post, and it’s more of a diarrhea consistency with a headache. I’m drinking more water and will start yogurt again to see if it helps. Will update."

For Bacterial Infection "I went to the oral surgeon for what I thought was a consult for my wisdom teeth extraction. He told me that my one wisdom tooth that came in already was fine. The other wisdom tooth hasn’t come in yet (knock on wood). He told me that I have an infection in my gums and prescribed me clindamycin. The first 3 days I felt fine, but today, my 4th day taking it, I had this really strong bitter metallic taste in my mouth, my left side of my face is throbbing with pain, I felt so fatigued and drowsy that I thought I was going to fall over when I went to stand up. I have this pain in my throat, I literally feel like I have some flu mixed with getting punched in the face. I took it with food and plenty of water and stood up for about 15 minutes after taking it. I have an appointment with the dentist tomorrow, so I’m skipping my next 2 doses and seeing if there’s anything else that could help. Do not keep taking it because it will only get so much worse. Good luck."

For Bacterial Infection "The antibiotic basically did its job well. I was diagnosed with acute tonsillitis, but the terrible side effects were really hard to endure! The agony of having to wait until I'm done with the whole set is just too much for me. The heartburn it gives me is one that will haunt me for a long time! It felt like I've swallowed razors that got stuck somewhere down my esophagus. The burn made me cry literally because it was so painful! I also couldn't function well at work with the sudden bouts of headaches this drug gives me. I'll remember this drug's name for sure so that the next time my doctor prescribes this to me, I'll be sure to tell him I'm allergic to it! LOL!"

For Bacterial Infection "Oh wow, I literally just popped my first pill not even a minute ago, and already my heart is pounding so hard it hurts my throat, head hurts, feel like I might poop myself, exhausted, dizzy, and might be slightly hallucinating. Thinking about puking it up because I can't afford to be out of commission with a 2-month-old to take care of. Definitely going to have to use just formula for this week. I'll probably champ out the side effects, but the baby definitely couldn't handle them."

Clindamycin for Bacterial Infection "I just took my first dosage at 150 mg 1/2 hour ago. I am already starting to feel the side effects. Diarrhea, itchy skin, sleepiness, headaches. Feels like my blood vessels about to burst in my head. Horrible! Not sure if I should continue with this med."

For Bacterial Infection "I feel taking this medication was a trade-off. I exchanged pain reaching from my lymph node to the top of my head for frequent bowel movements, nausea, severe sleepiness, irritability, weakness, headaches, and loss of appetite. The first two days, everything was going okay, and the initial pain I went to the ER for had subsided. On day three, the side effects started kicking in. I don't think I have C. diff based on the symptoms, but the side effects have me feeling totally out of it, almost comparable to a dream state. It seems to be doing its job, but with other problems arising."

For Bacterial Infection "I have been prescribed this medicine before and never had any issues, and it worked great. This time around, I am having horrible, horrible headaches. It seems to be working for my BV, but next time, when/if I get another BV, I will ask for something different."

For Bacterial Infection "Sitting here reading these comments while having severe chest, back, and head pain after taking this medication following a root canal. I ate a full meal, but the pain started within five minutes of swallowing the pill. I clearly won’t be finishing the cycle and would not recommend anyone to take it."

For Surgical Prophylaxis "I was prescribed 150 mg clindamycin capsules, 4 times a day for 10 days following breast augmentation surgery as a preventative precaution. The first few days everything seemed fine as I was also on pain medication following surgery. Once I stopped taking the pain medicine and only the antibiotic, I felt worse than the surgery pain itself! By day 6 of taking it, I would get a pounding, explosive headache that I’m unable to make go away. I feel overall out of it. I feel worse with each pill as each day passes. Also by day 6, the diarrhea began. It was not multiple times a day like some others have reported. But when it’s time to go, it’s time to go! I followed all instructions, have been drinking an insane amount of water, and nothing is helping. I made it 8 days and can’t continue. I had to stop taking it and will be calling my surgeon today. My breasts feel great and seem to be healing normally, but my body feels like it’s dying from this antibiotic!"

For Bacterial Infection "I took this for a bacterial infection in my ear. I would take it again in a last resort situation, however, it does come with a fair amount of side effects. After taking, you have to be very careful with making sure it doesn’t stick in your esophagus, it will burn very badly. If you have GERD like I do, it may happen. I noticed I was extremely tired, brain foggish, no diarrhea (I took probiotics), but a headache for sure. I would take this again if I needed to for a life-threatening condition, but I would try to find an alternative."
