For Bacterial Infection "Given enough Clinda for 42 doses over 14 days... 450 mg per dose for the question of an infected vag. After 5 doses... had diarrhea, bloating, dry mouth. Stopped the med, contacted doc via email where I stated, 'I stopped Clinda due to side effects xyz that may lead to C. diff, need follow-up visit.' Saw doc in 2 days, she said culture came back negative so really didn't need antibiotics anyway. Make sure your doctor does a culture of your infection! (using swabs, syringe, tissue sample... etc.). In the microbiology lab, the bacteria are identified and then tested against multiple antibiotics. Your dr is given a list of all antibiotics that would work against your particular bacteria. Clinda may not be the only solution!"

For Bacterial Infection "I had a sore throat that wouldn't go away. I was diagnosed with tonsillitis, then given this medication. First day was fine. Second day was fine. Third day - no sore throat - but things took a turn. My stomach was in so much pain, I was nauseous, felt like cramping, it was unbearable. I knew diarrhea was common, so I figured I should just suck it up. But the stomach pains were too much! I called my doctor, and they recommended I use a probiotic. So I picked up 'Culturelle.' Within 5 minutes of taking that (about 3 hours after I took my two doses of the antibiotics), I ran to the bathroom thinking I was going to throw up. I started to feel extremely dizzy, got really sweaty, and super disoriented. Super scary! Got off the meds."

For Bacterial Infection "I've needed antibiotics plenty of times in the past, which is my hunch as to why this specific medication was prescribed to me. Although I don't feel any nausea, within an hour of taking the pill on a full stomach and with water, my digestive system is going crazy. My intestines make a bunch of noise all day long. After hours of digestive noise, I end up with diarrhea, multiple times a day. Very uncommon for me. The gastrointestinal noise isn't productive in any other way, I don't produce gas of any sort, so it just goes on and on. As much as I hate the side effect, it did work. My infection was cleared after 7 days on a twice-daily dosage. I eat very clean, which I'm sure helped it be better than it could have been. My advice: avoid diuretic foods (including coffee) and eat fermented foods (probiotics) while on this medication."

For Bacterial Infection "I broke a tooth, it abscessed and was prescribed 300 mg 4x a day. Though the label stated may cause diarrhea, I blew it off as I never have side effects. Well, the first day I took 600 mg (2 pills) right away just to get it into my system, then figured I'll go by the prescribed dosage. I had diarrhea so bad, I had to take a day off of work, so I cut back to two pills a day. While diarrhea calmed down a bit, I then noticed I was having trouble swallowing, like my esophagus was 1/2 its size, and anything I ate was hard to get down, so I cut back to a pill a day, then finally every other day. Now my stomach feels tight like I did 100 sit-ups and bloating. When I eat now, it feels like I'm full after just a slice of toast, but still feeling hungry. The last pill I took was like two weeks ago, but I'm still trying to recover from this."

For Peritonitis "This was for the prevention of infection of the gums and teeth. Horrible experience, allergic severe diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea, also some weakness and stomach pain. This was not reported to the dentist, but returned to normal after the medication was finished. This was the worst antibiotic ever for me."

"Was prescribed a 7-day course of clindamycin by an oral surgeon due to the possibility of infection from a cracked tooth. Ten days after completion, I began experiencing severe diarrhea and stomach pains. Nearly two weeks later, when these symptoms hadn't gone away, my doc ordered a stool test and I was diagnosed with C. diff. Never had any health problems prior to this and now treating the C. diff. I will never, ever take clindamycin again."

For Sinusitis "After the first dose, I went to sleep only to wake up with severe diarrhea and cramping, so much that I could not make it to the bathroom. Immediately stopped the medication but was unable to get my gut back to normal. Severe dehydration and diarrhea for 2 months despite trying different probiotics and home remedies. Negative test for c. diff. Many trips to specialists with no answers. I was finally diagnosed with celiac and feel much better now that I'm following a strict diet. I am allergic to penicillin, and this medicine is often used as an alternative. Don't use! Ask the doctor to find an alternative medicine."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I took this antibiotic almost 3 years ago to prevent infection after my cats attacked me because I had several bites and scratches. This drug gave me diarrhea the entire time I was on it, a week I think. Of course, I had just had a baby, so I was barely sleeping and not eating much either. Still, I won't take this drug again."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I was given clindamycin for a tooth extraction. I started the antibiotic on April 21st, 2020. I finished on April 28th, 2020. I was prescribed 300 mg 4x per day. By April 24th (4 days on the antibiotic), I started having diarrhea. It is now May 12th, 2020, and it had been 18 days with diarrhea. I had to go in for a stool sample last week to see if I had C. diff. That test came back negative, but I'm still dealing with diarrhea. This medicine is so strong, and my whole gut is messed up. Wish I had pushed harder for amoxicillin and never got put on this. I’m miserable."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I was given this drug for a pilonidal cyst. I was nauseous the first day. Diarrhea started 3 days in and got so bad I had to stop. Have been off it for 2 days and still have diarrhea and feel wiped out. I won't be taking it again. Lost 4 pounds in 3 days. Still taking probiotics, hoping this subsides soon."

For Bacterial Infection "I took a round of this antibiotic for a tooth extraction, which became infected. In turn, I was cured of chronic diarrhea, which I suffered with for over 2 years. Why did my own doctor not pick up on this sooner? I am so much better now!"

For Bacterial Infection "I took this antibiotic for a tooth infection, and it worked overall. The first day, I was alright, but into the second day, I started having diarrhea. Now, almost 2 weeks later, I still have diarrhea, and it's beginning to bother me because I have to go to the bathroom after I eat any little thing. I recommend any other antibiotic except clindamycin."

For Bacterial Infection "Severe headache. Feel like vomiting. Severe diarrhea. I stopped it the second day. Was 300mg x 2. I prefer to have my tooth extractions than to have all those side effects. My bowel was jumping all day. I think more research should be done on it. It's so dangerous."

For Bacterial Infection "I suffer from hidradenitis suppurativa. After taking Minocycline for a while, I was off it because my physician, a recent graduate without much experience, recommended that I stop! It's actually recommended that you take antibiotics for 4 months on and 2 months off! Anyhow, I said okay, and a few days later got tennis ball-sized zits inside my mouth, so I was prescribed this medication, and it is bad - no improvement and my heart burning, insomnia, my intestines, and just whole body feel like dying! So, I went to the ER, got help from a more experienced, caring MD who prescribed me cephalexin, which is more expensive, like $100, but after the first dose I saw immediate improvement. He also cut and sucked out the painful zits out of my mouth! This drug also can cause real bad damage, causing diarrhea that literally kills you! So, be cautioned, ask for alternatives! Ask them to diagnose your infection by taking a sample. They're a severe type of antibiotic that can kill bacteria efficiently, as this medicine!"

For Bacteremia "I was prescribed this drug after a severe bacterial infection was detected in my blood. The symptoms quickly went away as soon as I started taking the capsules. However, I am still having diarrhea-which wasn't there previously-two weeks after completing my dose. The thing is, this diarrhea is preceded by a gut-wrenching pain that feels like air is being forcefully blown through my entrails. Plus, I have some funny taste in my mouth that has forced me to keep and chew candy 24/7. All in all, it is a good drug if it treats that which caused the doc to prescribe it in the first place. Just be prepared to handle the side effects for a while."

For Bone infection "When taking with a meal each time I've used it, over the last 6 days at 4 times a day, I have noticed that the reddening around the area and the area itself has decreased substantially. Also, the soreness stopped within 8 hours completely. Also, the epidermis layer has healed noticeably. The side effects: mild itching, mild skin peeling at the site, diarrhea, and lowered noticeable blood pressure leading to mild lightheadedness. I am fortunate enough to be home while my husband works. In having my ongoing diabetes for 6 months untreated and having some unhealed places, there's noticeable healing in 6 days' time, and I am still taking it to complete it. Also, the extreme neuropathy I had is diminishing daily. Also, I am adding raw garlic cloves chopped up and taking them with water that's been refrigerated daily with meals. I am extremely happy so far, even with the side effects. And very grateful to the Dr. that prescribed it."

For Bacterial Infection "Had diarrhea since the day I started it. How would you rate an antibiotic on its effectiveness? I wouldn't give this crap to an enemy. Cost me $71 for 28 pills, and I looked forward every day to being done with them!"

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I had a finger infection, so I was prescribed 300 mg 3x/day for 5 days. I took it with a cup of water and ate yogurt probably about 3-4 of those days. The doctor told me to eat yogurt every day. Everything went well. My finger started to heal and the skin peeled about 2 weeks after finishing the medication. About a week after I finished the pills, I started having soft stools every day. Now I’m 3 weeks post, and it’s more of a diarrhea consistency with a headache. I’m drinking more water and will start yogurt again to see if it helps. Will update."

For Peritonitis "Wow, I guess it worked, but I wish I spoke with my dentist before doing this. I had an appendectomy a couple of months ago, and this hit me bad. The day after I finished it, I finally had the worst response, though I felt like my stomach was bad the entire time; the following day after completing it, I couldn't hold it in and had a food poisoning-like response. Vomit and watery stool. It was wild. It passed after that vomit, and I'm taking prebiotics now. My muscles were also achy like other antibiotics, but I hope not to need this again. I was prescribed this for a dental implant, and I think it worked. I feel like my mouth didn't respond poorly."

For Bacterial Infection "I had a post-surgical infection that was not going away and had been on doxycycline, levofloxacin, and had been given vancomycin IV when I had an abscess drained. This med did the trick along with Bactrim. I had read the reviews, so I made sure I stayed hydrated, drinking a full 16 oz bottle of water with each dose. My doctor had me taking probiotics about 2 hours after dosing. I also took one before bed. I think that and the water really held any of the wicked side effects at bay, but of course, everybody is different. For what it's worth, I also drank orange juice and ate citrus as much as possible after reading that most bacteria don't do well in an acidic environment. I figured it couldn't hurt. Call the doctor if you get diarrhea - it can be deadly."

For Surgical Prophylaxis "Not good. Broke out in a rash on day 7 of it all over. Lots of intense acid reflux too! I ended up stopping this a day early because of the side effects. Now, fast forward a month later, and here come all the digestive issues: diarrhea, mucus, bloating, and gurgling. A month after taking it, and the worst part is it's sporadic and comes out of nowhere. Absolutely terrible. Never taking it again."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "My doctor recommended the gel for me because I had severe acne. A couple of weeks in, I started to have a sensation as if something was stuck in my throat. I brushed it off and it went away for a while, but then it came back and worse, but this time with an excessive supply of mucus. I was so confused until I realized that it was my medication. Not only did I have throat problems, but I also had mild diarrhea, sharp pains in my stomach and chest, and heartburn, which has never happened to me before. I didn't even help my acne for that long. I stopped using it, and my health went back to normal. I am never going to even touch this again."

For Bacterial Infection "Been on twice now in several months for infection under root canal. Definitely messes with indigestion and caused nausea and diarrhea. I have had worsening fatigue. Even when stopped, feel negative effects for days and would not be able to recommend this drug. BTW - tests still have infection."

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed this medication because my dentist thought I had an infection due to a root canal. I became very sick on the 6th day after taking clindamycin 300 mg 4x a day. Severe stomach cramps and pain when I eat, some loose stools, and difficult to lay flat. Now I need to get in to see what my PCP can do for me."
