For Alcohol Withdrawal "I was administered this drug at the beginning of a 28-day residential detox/rehab for alcohol. It stopped the tremors and shakes. But not the other withdrawal symptoms such as the sweats, which did subside. However, it took slightly longer to bring back the coordination in my legs. I was advised that this had something to do with the receptors in my brain repairing. Until it was brought to my attention, I didn't know how much alcohol affected the brain and its normal function with the rest of the human body."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "For me, this relieves withdrawal symptoms within an hour. It's like magic relief from awful withdrawal anxiety, heart thumping, and nervous system twinges that I get in withdrawal. I have been prescribed it when I am honest with the doctor, and they know I am pursuing staying sober, going to counseling, etc. It is a miracle for withdrawal symptoms for me."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "My uncle was drinking for over 35 years, and after detoxing once before, he was doing considerably well. Things took a downhill turn for him, and it took us a while to get him the right kind of help. Librium is the way to go. He went from convulsions, shakes, hallucinations to a few minor discomforts. By now, even those are gone. God bless every one of you looking for a way out. It is out there, but you must believe in yourself 100%."

For Anxiety "I have a 30-capsule prescription for Librium (5 mg) that I use for anxiety and panic attacks. I've had the same bottle for about four years and still have some left. Librium calms me down but allows me to function, too. Works in about 20 minutes for me, reaching maximum relaxation at about two hours. I use it mostly before medical procedures but occasionally when severely upset and unable to calm down. I tried to get my mother a prescription, but her doctor insisted SSRIs are better, but they weren't. SSRIs caused my mother to be unable to function, to walk or even stay awake. Librium is great! I told a doctor who was going to do a spinal injection for me that I'd had a Librium. He remarked, 'that stuff's pretty good, but no one prescribes it anymore.' I know I had a hard time getting it, but it's great, so I use it judiciously."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I was in withdrawal one and a half days when I started shaking and feeling anxious. Having already had several seizures due to alcohol, I went to my GP, who prescribed Librium. Symptoms almost stopped completely after one day and after that, no symptoms at all. Don't try to stop yourself, it's dangerous and could cost you your life."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "When I fell off the wagon, I was dreading another trip to the ER when I sobered up. I saw my doctor, and he prescribed this, and it helped immensely. I have really bad panic attacks, and my blood pressure skyrockets, along with nausea, shakes, sweats, etc. This medicine helped get me off booze twice. Recommended."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I've been drinking for about three years now! To try and take away the depression and anxiety. (I do realize drink is the worst thing to medicate with.) As I write this, I had just woken up on my back, vomiting. Four-day drinking session. Not a morsel of food passed my lips. 25/30 cans of Guinness per day. I've lost the ability to walk properly. For several years now, when I stand up, my legs just buckle. I take diazepam too. They are of no help anymore! I was taken into the hospital two months ago. Family had rung an ambulance. I had alcohol poisoning and took a seizure. Librium really helped with the withdrawals in the hospital. I wish any of you suffering all the very best! Alcohol dependency is such a lonely road to walk."

For Anxiety "I take it 4 times a day. It keeps me okay if I have no other stress at the time. I have severe panic attacks, mid-level agoraphobia, and anxiety. During what is mild stress for some disables me, at those times, nothing works. But for regular anxiety, I like it because I have no side effects."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I had been drinking the equivalent of a bottle of gin a day for the last 4 weeks. I'm an alcoholic who had managed to quit 4 years ago but had a serious relapse. I tried tapering down the booze, but I felt like I was losing my mind with the stuff. I wanted to go cold turkey, but the withdrawals were utterly horrific - I've never felt so dreadful, the depression was indescribable. I was worried I was actually going clinically insane. I got an appointment with my doctor, and he gave me a Librium prescription. On the first morning of taking the pills, I could have cried with relief at how much better the Librium made me feel - I almost felt 'normal' even though I was starting the cold turkey/withdrawal process. No shakes, no anxiety, no dread."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I've always done cold turkey withdrawal, and this is the first time I could function. It made me feel numb and zombie-like, but I'd rather have that than the cold turkey withdrawal. I'm a 39-year-old female who's been drinking since 15. I'm a horrible binge drinker that can go weeks with only vodka or other kinds of booze. I wake up in the morning and drink until I pass out, as soon as I wake up, I do it all over again. The only way I stop is if my husband takes my wallet, keys, and any access to $. My withdrawals kick in quick, and I feel as if I'm dying. I don't sleep for 3 to 4 days, I hear stuff that's not there, I sweat profusely, and then I'm freezing, horrible anxiety. My heart jumps at any noise, my heart races, and I get super depressed."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I was prescribed 25 mg for 5 days. First day every 6 hours, second day every 8 hours, 3rd day every 12 hours, 4th day at bedtime, and 5th day at bedtime. I was drinking heavily for 8 months straight, every day, no break, 375 ml cognac and a champagne on top of that. If I wasn't drinking that, I was drinking a 750 ml of vodka, 80 proof. I tried to stop and my BP was through the roof. My doctor told me to keep drinking until I came into her office for the prescription that was for 6 days. I had to keep drinking, and I finally got the script. I haven't started yet, I start tonight at the time I usually have my first drink. I will let you know how it went for these next 5 days. My doctor said it's the best alcohol withdrawal medication. I'm so over drinking, I'm only 29."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I have serious issues with relapse. Do six months to a year, then break out. Have a lovely doctor who gave me Librium, and it helps. Makes me dopey, but the sweating, the shakes, the empty retching all abated. Really need to do it this time. I'm so tired of relapsing."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Unfortunately, I am a chronic relapser and have had many alcohol-withdrawal related seizures in the past. Every time I have gone to the hospital, they have given me Librium, and it absolutely took away all my withdrawal symptoms. No more sweating, shaking, or vomiting. I have asked several doctors in the past to prescribe Librium to me, but they have all said that it should be administered at a hospital where I could be monitored. This time around, however, the hospital sent me home after 7 hrs and gave me a script for 6-25 mg. I only took 5 and experienced no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever, and I was a liter of vodka/day drinker. Highly recommend Librium."

For Anxiety "I am grateful for this drug. I've had problems with addiction, and Librium gives me no trouble. It doesn't make me feel like I have to keep taking more. I was first introduced to it when I quit drinking for alcohol withdrawal and then after, for the management of my nerves. It takes the hard, irritable edge off my anxiety but doesn't sedate me. I can even miss a day because it is so long-acting. If you struggle with addiction or dependence and have bad nerves, this is the safest there is. No, it doesn't make you feel like you just took 2 shots of whiskey like Xanax, but it does calm you down with panic attacks and helps with agitation."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I managed to successfully hide my alcohol addiction from my family/friends for years. Horrifically ashamed. Only ever drank alone. My favorite time to drink was setting my alarm for 4 am when the world is dark and it was just me and my wine, then I'd go through the workday as normal, but with intermittent drinks throughout the day. A liver failure crisis at 31 had me terrified, but I was not getting counseling or opening myself to anyone who could help. At 33, I went to a 30-day rehab. Having been through intense withdrawal (I am a 117-pound woman at 5'8"), I was petrified that they wouldn't know how to help me properly detox. I read all about Librium and felt good about it. It saved my life. And currently, has to save it again."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I've been a binge drinker on and off for about 4 years. This last binge lasted about 5 days around the clock. Going through withdrawal begins almost immediately for me if I don't drink every hour or so. I get extreme anxiety, heart racing, minor shakes, and can't just settle down. My doctor gave me a Librium taper starting on 50 mg every 6 hours day one and going down from there. My experience with the first dose is that it did not do anything for me. I was still just as miserable. Once I took the second dose, I was able to fall asleep. Today I'm pretty anxious, but it does take the edge off. It's not a magic bullet that cures all withdrawal symptoms. Good luck!"

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Was so happy to take it. Felt better right away, was given 3 x 25 mg pills to take 1 twice a day. Helped with my alcohol withdrawal, took a second one in the morning just in case I went through withdrawal again. Didn't feel like I needed it the next day, but took one anyway. Amazing how it worked for me. Felt like a normal person again."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I started drinking 4 years ago and before I knew it, it turned into a binge drinker. I started out with a 30-pack of beer and a liter of hard alcohol that I drank straight. Well, the beer made me sick, so I switched to just drinking vodka straight and a chase of diet soda. When I drank, and I'd binge for up to 5 days, I'd not touch food. After 4 years of going from beer, vodka, tequila, 101 Wild Turkey, and gin (I'd get the half gallon) to an unknown amount of visits to the ER, and losing control of bladder/bowel function, my hubby said this is it, I'm bringing you to the ER and my blood alcohol was .309. They gave me Librium and Xanax, it saved me! I'm now on Antabuse, it works wonders for me, going on a month now. Good luck."

For Anxiety "I had a car accident, closed head injury, but severe 3rd grade concussion. Heart stopped, E.M. brought me back. I have a traumatic brain injury and am now not the same person. All kinds of meds, and none worked. Some made me more violent. I prayed all the time that I would not hurt someone; I have short-term memory loss too. Librium was God sent, calmed me down, slept through the night for the first time in years, petite mal seizures controlled."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I had maybe 7-10 detox attempts in the hospital at 30ish - was prescribed Librium but every time initially had awful hallucinations (running through wards being chased by hordes of witches) but it worked. However, 20 yrs later I still drink, my liver gamma GT hovers around 2000, yep 2K healthy peeps less than 50. Alcohol is evil, an 18-year-old can buy enough to kill them. WHY. If this helps any young person - just do NOT start drinking like I did. I am educated, top of school, had a great job and money. Now alone in pain, feeling sick - this could be you !!"

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I was tapering off of alcohol using beer. I caught a virus at the same time. I was vomiting the beer I was using to taper. I went into major alcohol withdrawals. I went to the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack. It was just the withdrawal. They sent me home with Librium, and my symptoms are gone. I’m only on day two, but I’ll take it. I still find myself craving a drink, but I’m powering through it. I pray I can hold up... this time."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I have been a heavy liquor drinker for at least ten years now. Done some horrible things not only to my own self and body but also to my family. Went to rehab for a month, and as soon as I came out, I drank again. In May of last year, I found out I now have pancreatitis due to the heavy alcohol consumption. I got out of the hospital after spending a good week and a half, and lasted for almost two months. The pain with pancreatitis is worse than having a child naturally! I know because I have! The doctors told me if I start drinking again, I will die!!! So another attack came on, and I was too embarrassed to go back to the ER, I went to my own doctor and told him everything. He prescribed Librium, and it's been my true lifesaver!!!!"

For Anxiety "I used to suffer from panic attacks. They occurred mostly at work. I tried Clonazepam, but it just made me have sleepy panic attacks. Clonazepam worked perfectly for regular anxiety, though. Librium worked like a charm. My psych put me on 2 doses per day of 25 mg. I would take one dose 1/2 hour before getting to work and another 2 hours later. That didn't cover a long enough period, so she increased it to 3 doses per day. I'm finding that I need 4 doses per day as my panic attacks would normally happen any time between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Since taking it, I have not had any panic attacks."

For Anxiety "Experienced a major, full-blown panic attack (due to stress and agoraphobia) while out with a friend. She offered Librium, two 5mg capsules. The hysteria subsided fairly quickly, but I could not stop crying, and could not breathe. Two more Librium stabilized me completely. When I told my doctor, she 'told' me rather than asking me that I slept for the remainder of that day. Nooooo... I've been telling her for months that it takes high doses of 4 different meds for me to sleep. One of those is Klonopin. For 10 years, I was prescribed 6mg at bedtime. New doc came in, cut me down to 4mg, upsetting my balance, making falling asleep a chore. I hope she will take into account the Librium's positive effect."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I have detoxed several times from alcohol over my 25-year drinking career, a couple of times cold turkey, which led to seizures. Librium has always helped. In the detox centers, they would give me 25 mg every two hours that first day with a doctor on site. At home, I was prescribed 25 mg every 4 hours. Don't do it alone, it could be deadly."
