"I took Actonel for about 6-8 months several years ago. No gastrointestinal symptoms, but I had such very severe joint pains - first shoulder, then elbow, then wrist (joint still enlarged) that I thought I had injured myself. Each would subside after several weeks. My physician did take me off Actonel after I complained of this, and I have been taking Fosamax (or generic) for 5 or 6 years, no ill effects."
