Atropine / diphenoxylate for Diarrhea "I do not have a colon anymore (surgically removed due to pre-cancerous condition). I have had problems with chronic diarrhea since. Was recently prescribed Lomotil after a particularly severe bout of diarrhea which landed me in the hospital. Lomotil works great, no unpleasant side effects for me. Be careful to use only as much as needed though as too much might make you constipated, which is why I'm giving it an 8/10. Otherwise, it's a lifesaver. I have been able to resume my regular life, no longer being a prisoner in my home due to fear of going out and not being able to get to a bathroom quickly enough."

Atropine / diphenoxylate for Diarrhea "I started to take Lonox once I was diagnosed with IBS. Before I started the pill, I was always in the bathroom. Everything I ate made me sick. I was afraid to leave my house, eat out, and just go out in general. When I would get my “attacks,” I felt as if I had no control over my body. If I had to go, I HAD TO GO. There was no such thing as waiting until I got home. I started to map out public bathrooms that I felt comfortable enough in just in case I had an emergency on the road and had to go. I’ve felt as if Lonox has given me my life back. I’m able to go out on long trips, eat out, and be me again without fearing an “emergency.” I was directed to take 2 pills 3 times a day, but it made me constipated, and I would cramp pretty bad. What works for me is taking the 2 pills once a day in the morning. I always go to the bathroom within ½ hour of taking the pill, but at least it’s predictable now, and I stay regulated. Some days I have to take the pill twice, but never more than that."

For Diarrhea "Crohn's dx and anxiety disorder. I had a 4th-degree tear during childbirth, and the doctors were unaware I have Crohn's until 4 years later. This was after surgery in an attempt to repair a rectal-vaginal fistula. I would go into extreme flares after each surgery, then the acidic diarrhea would eat away my perineal wall and rectum/vagina. I was wearing diapers for 4 years until I finally was diagnosed. (Bag) I was taking Lomotil and an opium tincture to control the diarrhea, alternating oxy and Vicodin for their constipating effect. I can get some constipation for a few days after using Lomotil, which is painful in itself. I prefer hyoscamine for remission."

For Diarrhea "This medication really helped me, and it works fast. I do agree with one comment a consumer made, it can constipate you. I went from one extreme diarrhea to not being able to go at all. I guess you just have to figure out how much or how many doses are best for you. Still, I'm glad my doctor prescribed it for me."

For Diarrhea "I've been taking this medicine for colitis for 3 years, and now I can take my daughters out by myself. I'm not running to the bathroom or having accidents, it's wonderful. I do have constipation. So anyone with colitis should try it - I take 2 pills in the morning, then 1 every 5 hours every day, and I'm loving life finally."
