For Migraine "I've had migraines for 40 years. This works 9 out of 10 times, usually in about 20 minutes. Occasionally, I've had to take a second pill or dose, but 1 pill almost always does the trick. The other 10% of the time, I use Maxalt or its generic form. My insurance has recently dropped coverage for this inexpensive, very effective drug. I'm not happy and plan to appeal for coverage."

For Headache "I have been taking Fiorinal for 50 years for bad headaches. It has been a lifesaver for me, and nips the headaches in the bud before they lead to extreme nausea and taking to my bed. Unfortunately, the generic does not work for me, and it has been increasingly difficult to get Fiorinal as the price has gone up dramatically lately. My insurance covers none of it. What can I do? Help!"

For Pain "I have taken Fiorinal since I was 19, and I am 56 now, and it has helped not only with severe tension headaches but with toothaches, strep throat, and other pain over the years, and I recommend it to anybody suffering from headaches."

For Headache "I have used Fiorinal for over 30 years and, like others, try to use it sparingly. My goal is to only use it no more than 10 pills per month - usually less. It is the only thing that works for my headaches. I have tried all other over-the-counter medicines, and they do nothing. I find that if I catch the headache early, one pill will do the trick. However, if I wait too long, it may not work. I have Fioricet for bad headaches, but I don't like the side effects of the codeine. I rarely ever use it. The only bad thing with Fiorinal is that I can't take it at night because the caffeine will keep me awake. My pharmacist says that they may discontinue the drug in a few years - I hope not, as I need it."

For Pain "I’ve used Fiorinal with codeine for 49 years, and it’s the only pain relief medication that works for me. I have multiple issues, severe back pain, it reduces pain so I function but doesn’t make it go completely away. In the past, the issues worked completely. I take it at the onset of pain, if I wait too long, pain is harder to control. I thought it only came in a capsule, then I got it in tablet form once, and the tablet didn’t work as well and yet should be the same. In the past, I was given a generic which did not work, the past 5-6 years the generic is working. It used to cost me over $800/month, but with generic, the price is about $400. My plan covers 80%. I have tried other medications every time a new one comes on the market with no success. This is a drug that does need constant monitoring, but it does work. Recent kidney tests have been good for me, so it hasn’t affected that with long-term use."

For Headache "I've been getting headaches most of my life. I started taking Fiorinal for the past 30 years. I find it to be a 'miracle' for my headaches as long as I take it when I feel the headache starting. If I wait until the headache develops, it takes longer to work, but the headache does go away."

For Headache "I have been using this medication for my complex tension headaches for 2 years now. I have a condition that causes chronic muscle spasms/trigger points in my upper back, shoulders, and neck. In turn, the spasms start a chain reaction that results in severe headaches. This is the only medication that has successfully relieved my pain, and it does it without any adverse effects and very quickly. 2 capsules, either at the same time or within an hour of each other, and the pain is on its way, and I am able to move and turn my head again."

For Migraine "This has been the only drug I have been prescribed that has actually helped with my migraines. I have been on it for a couple of years now, and it is not as effective for me as it once was, and the side effects sometimes make me feel off for the rest of the day. But I have always thought that the side effects were better than the pain of the migraine. It is the only one that has worked for me, so my go-to drug."

For Migraine "I have to say that anyone would think aspirin would touch a migraine-in case you're wondering-NOT EVEN A LITTLE! I thought this was a migraine medication since it came from a referral to a neurologist-what a wasted office visit AND wasted Rx. Absolutely no relief from this medication, and it gave me a nosebleed. I'm so disappointed with the whole migraine 'treatment' process. If the drug companies can give Hugh Hefner a boner, why do I have to continue to suffer migraines?"

For Headache "I started taking this medicine about 7 years ago. I used to have these very bad headaches, and my doctor kept giving me other medicines that never worked. At that time, my husband had a prescription for Fiorinal to cure his tension headaches, and one day when I was in very bad shape, he suggested I have one. After 1/2 hour, I started feeling the relief. Since then, I have my own prescription. It worked wonderfully for me and my husband (we are both professionals and very busy at work)."

For Headache "My father and I both used to get horrible headaches. I was given this drug, Fiorinal, in the E.R. I filled the script, and wow, no more headache. I took 1 and didn't need another. 2 weeks later, my dad got 1 of our headaches, and I gave him 1, and the same thing, headache gone. Guess what? We never got 1 of our headaches again EVER. He is sadly now gone, he went the next 26 years without another, and I am currently at 30 years since and still have not had 1 of those headaches again!"

For Migraine "I have used this drug since 1979 at age 27. Two-day weekend headaches after a rough week were frequent (about 15-20 headaches per year) over the next 10 years. They laid me up for hours or days. If taken within a few hours after a headache began, Fiorinal is very effective. Wait a day, and pain is partially reduced but lingers for 24 hours or more. Headache frequency gradually declined with aging. At current age, headache frequency is down 95%. Fiorinal was a great help to me."

For Migraine "I've had chronic migraines since 1984, almost on a daily basis. I've used almost every migraine medicine ever made. The 'Fiorcet' and 'Fiorcet with Codeine' are the only two that have ever given me any relief."

For Migraine "I have had migraines since the age of 12. I have taken Fiorinal for 50 years. Once I get an aura, I take one and I'm done. This medicine is amazing. The ones who want to take it away are the ones who don't suffer. I've never had a problem with this drug. They need to focus on improving what they can't fix, like cancer."

For Migraine "I have been using this drug since close to FDA approval in 1976. No side effects, works within ten minutes. Doctors have tried to get me to use 'newer' drugs, but this one works like a charm. When I was younger, I used it at least twice a month, now I only use it twice a year, if at all."

For Headache "I've taken Fiorinal for about a year; initially, it was great. One pill would totally knock out a headache. A little drowsy for about 30 minutes, and I was good to go. Started having to increase the number of times I take it about 4 months ago, started having abnormal vaginal bleeding; my doctor thinks it's the aspirin and the fact that I've had to take more. Aspirin is a blood thinner. I switched to Fioricet, the same drug, but replaces the aspirin with Tylenol. Back to normal now. Try Fioricet if Fiorinal doesn't work for you."

For Headache "I have taken Fiorinal for 15+ years with no issues. It works well with no side effects. I take it when a headache arises, it works fast as well. Sad that now it's hard to get because of all the abusers of meds."

For Migraine "I have been getting these nasty migraines for some time now, and not even three Percocets work on it! I called the doctor last night, and she called in a prescription for Fiorinal. I went and picked it up and took one tablet, and within 1/2 hour, I had some relief. Then finally, 1 hour later, no migraine! Yesterday's migraine started at 1 pm and lasted until about 8 pm. I am still neutral about this drug, however, I don't have a migraine today, so I think it might have worked! I would like to hear more relief/non-relief stories if possible."

For Migraine "I have suffered from migraines since I was in grade school; I'm now 40. I didn't know about treatments until I started college. Midrin had worked wonders for me for years...and then it stopped. Fiorinal and many of the triptans did not compare; they took longer to take effect, and I could not deal with some of the side effects. I have started seeing a well-known neurologist who has finally gotten me on the right treatment (topiramate to help control the frequency of migraines and Relpax to help at the onset of a migraine attack). It feels so good to actually have normal days!"

For Migraine "I suffered as a young child from severe migraines. One doctor, by a miracle, prescribed Fiorinal. It literally saved my young life. I am old now and still use it, though headaches are much less. You will not believe it, but when I do use it, I even get relief from my idiopathic neuropathy. It is truly, for me, a miracle drug. I never got addicted. I never abused it, but to this day, I still use it. Not every day, but I definitely still use it, and I am 82 years old now. Everyone is different, but again, for me, a miracle and remains so to this day."

For Migraine "I’ve used this prescription drug for maybe 25 years. Always effective and quick results. If taken as soon as the aura begins, most times I avoid the migraine altogether. Over the years, doctors have had me try a myriad of other options. All either didn’t work or caused significant side effects. As for addictive properties, for me… not at all. I may use it a few days in a row (I call it my “migraine rut”) but never feel the need to continue it otherwise."

For Migraine "I have suffered with migraines since elementary school. I am now 23. I finally got a doctor to prescribe me a prescription. I have taken Fiorinal for about 3 weeks now. It is not helping at all. Putting a heating pad on my head works better than it does. Hopefully, I can try something else."

For Migraine "For over 20 years, Fiorinal in the capsule form has been very effective in stopping my migraines, as long as I take a capsule at the beginning onset of the migraine and not wait until it is a full-blown one. Taking Fiorinal doesn't cause me drowsiness or make me feel groggy. I am able to function normally soon after I take one capsule. Rarely does my migraine return after the medication has worn off. I find that Fiorinal works quickly in stopping my migraines, within 15 to 30 minutes after I have taken a capsule. I find that it is not as quick acting for me in tablet form."

For Migraine "I’ve taken Fiorinal with codeine for 45 years. The minute I get aura, I take one. In about 20 minutes, when I can see again, is when the pain begins. With Fiorinal, I can function. It’s a dull pain but bearable. I always carry one with me, learned the hard way years ago. Nothing else has ever helped."

For Migraine "I had my first migraine and was prescribed Fiorinal 40 years ago, and back then, they were occasional. As I've gotten older, they are more frequent. This is a problem for my neurologist because Fiorinal is on the restricted use list here in New York. We switched me to Fioricet, and for three years, that was OK, but then the Tylenol started bothering my liver. Got a new script for Fiorinal, and to my surprise, it only comes in capsule form, and in my opinion, does not work as well. I hope they will bring back the tablet form. The tablet works the best, and I can't understand the need to change to a capsule. Why reinvent the wheel?"
