For Depression "I only took this medication once. Within an hour after I took my 2 mg pill (also with 20 mg Lexapro) at around 9-10 pm, I started to feel incredibly nauseous to the point where it was almost unbearable. I went out on a short car ride with a friend and had to stop because I started vomiting right in my hands, and then I threw up for about 5 minutes on the curb, feeling super terrible. My friend was almost about to call an ambulance because I just looked that messed up. When I got dropped off at home, I still felt incredibly nauseous. I lay on the floor for 3 hours straight, constantly projectile vomiting until around 2:30 am. Yes, I ran out of things to throw up and had to force myself to throw up and eat to make myself feel better."

For Depression "I started on this medication just 3 days ago at 2 mg, in conjunction with Celexa 40 mg and 90 mg Cymbalta. I have noticed some mild nausea, but nothing else yet. To the 12-year-old girl, my doctor and pharmacy said this medication, Abilify, should not be taken by anyone under 18 years."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on Abilify (10 mg) for the past 3 weeks. It has been very helpful with my psychosis/hallucinations. I have only hallucinated twice in the past 3 weeks. There have been some complications, though. I have experienced side effects of nausea, light-headedness, being constantly tired, and dizziness. My depression seems to be lightening up every day, and that is wonderful."

For Depression "Doctor prescribed me Abilify to help augment the effects of my Prozac. After just taking one 5 mg pill, I was vomiting, shivering, nauseous. The next day I vomited again and almost passed out. It gets better each day, but the side effects are bound to last a while due to its long half-life. It also gives me horrible anxiety and is making me feel even more depressed. Honestly, this medicine is horrible. I should have just increased my Prozac dosage instead."

For Bipolar Disorder "One day and done. I've never experienced side effects like this before. I took it before bed and then was up every few hours, restless, mind racing. Finally, I shot up at 4 am and NEEDED to shower. While in there, my head was so heavy, I couldn't stand anymore. I had to rest my head. Then I got so nauseated I started to dry heave. Now I'm heavy-headed, blurry, dizzy, restless, and afraid to stand up or drive. I will never take this drug again."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've only been on it for a few days. I have anxiety, ADHD, depression, and BPD. I'm on Lexapro 20mg, and it helped for a little bit, but I was still having crazy ups and downs throughout the day. Happy and then 20 minutes later, crying and upset. Although I haven't been diagnosed with BP 2, I believe I have it. This medicine so far has done wonders. I'm actually energetic, talkative, I want to work out (I always had to drag myself to the gym), and I feel like I'm living better. The downside is it's hard to fall asleep at night. Nothing major, I'm gonna try Melatonin tonight and see if it helps. Other side effects are nausea and a slight headache for me."

For Bipolar Disorder "I just started this medicine, and I feel great already from switching off Seroquel XR to Abilify. I take 2.5 mg (split 5 mg pill) in the morning, and my moods are a lot more stable. I'm also more productive at everything, like work, housework, etc. My loved ones can see the difference. The first two days, I experienced some nausea, but that's it! I feel the biggest thing is to start at a low dose."

For Agitated State "I was put on 4 mg of Abilify for anxiety. The worst drug I have ever been put on. While it almost immediately took action on my anxious and intrusive thoughts and panic attacks, there was a cost that eventually took over my life. It made me empty-headed to the point where I couldn’t hold conversations with people without feeling awkward or wondering how in the world I'm gonna keep this conversation going. I was constantly drained around my friends and couldn’t enjoy myself because all I could think about was what I was gonna say next. Abilify got rid of my creativity, I was in an artistic block for months. Awful drug, do not recommend."

For Bipolar Disorder "So far, Abilify seems to be the one drug that has worked for me. My mood is much more stable, and I have actually been feeling good for the first time in a long time. One good side effect is that it has caused me to lose weight. I really don't have much of an appetite anymore. At the beginning, I had quite a bit of nausea, but that has passed. A negative side effect I have been experiencing is sleepiness. It is almost to the point where I can't function during the day because I am so tired. My doctor recently cut my dose in half, so I am hoping that does the trick."

For Depression "The first three days or so after I began taking Abilify 2 mg were pretty bad - I was exhausted, nauseous, and felt like a zombie. However, through the third day, these symptoms began to improve, and by the fourth, they were barely noticeable. Now, on the sixth day, I'm still a little nauseous, but not enough to be bothersome, and I'm hoping that'll go away too. The positive effects are incredible so far. I wake up feeling positive about the day to come, have much more emotional energy, and don't have to hype myself up for 20 minutes before each tiny task - I can just get up and do it! I'm glad I was able to get through the first days; it was worth it. I'm also taking Prozac 10 mg to help with OCD symptoms and have been for years, but it has never helped with depression like it was supposed to."

For Bipolar Disorder "Today is my first day taking the medication, and within two hours I am ready to pass out. I feel so sleepy, and it's not really 'regulating' my moods. In fact, I'm more aggravated than usual and going off on everybody. I also feel slightly nauseous and dizzy."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I just started taking 5 mg Abilify. After a day of headache and nausea, as well as extreme fatigue, I am now trying to take it at night to sleep through the worst side effects. Hoping they'll subside after a week or two. But I think I can feel a little change in my mood for the better, which would be nice after trying to find something that works for the last year..."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I was initially prescribed Abilify to treat the negative symptoms of schizophrenia (flat affect), and it definitely has worked for that. I feel more able to express myself, like I'm no longer burdened by depression. I have been sleeping 7-8 hours instead of my usual 10 and waking up with more energy. Also, it has unexpectedly cured my anxiety, which was pretty serious. I feel like I can participate in life now due to that aspect. Just having the anxiety lifted has improved my mood. I don't feel stoned or anything, just normal. The only side effects have been sleeping lighter and dreaming more, plus some minor dizziness after taking the pill. The first few days were intense nausea, but that went away completely. Mind you, I'm only 1 week into the treatment, but already these insane improvements. Not sure how effective it is in treating people without schizo symptoms, but it has worked for me."

For Depression "I've been taking this along with Clonidine for a month, and they increased Abilify to 5 mg. Once this happened, after a bit, I've started to get insomnia, restlessness/anxiousness, nausea, appetite change (not hungry). I chose to go off it myself since my psych insisted I stay on, but I couldn't keep torturing myself like this. Hopefully, my body returns to normal when I could sleep and eat without worries."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on Abilify for three weeks now. I also take Klonopin, Celexa, and Trileptal for bipolar II disorder. The Abilify was added to control my anger and aggression because sometimes I just wanted to SNAP! I feel much better now. So far, I've only lost weight because it makes me feel queasy and kills my appetite in general. However, I give it an 8 because it costs a small fortune to be on this medication ($600 a month since I no longer have insurance). It's made my insomnia worse too. Overall, though, as long as it doesn't make me gain weight, it still rates high on my scale."

For Depression "Antipsychotics are awful in my opinion, while aripiprazole helped a little with agitation in some regards, I cannot sleep on even a low 5 mg dose. I have tried every recommended method and was even given zopiclone, still no sleep. Appetite increased unnaturally, and nausea ensued. Also, unbearable restless legs and feeling weak."

For Bipolar Disorder "Sadly, Abilify didn’t work for me, and I could only stand it for two weeks. The restlessness people describe is what got me the worst. It feels like you have to be doing something all the time, but you don’t know what. It caused me to get around 3 hours of sleep a night and gave me horrible nausea. After quitting a few days ago, the brain fog is starting to lift, but I’m still not sleeping. The nausea is also bad enough that I’ve had to call off work, but I don’t know how much of that is due to not getting any sleep. This seems to be a very 50/50 medication, so it may work perfectly for you. Sadly, it wasn’t for me."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have only been taking Abilify (along with my Prozac) for 2 days. So far, I have had many ups and downs. I wake up feeling shaky and out of sorts. I have trouble breathing and black out a lot. (I black out anyway, but it has increased). Then I go through a period of anxiety and sweating. A little while later, I go through severe nausea and then extreme fatigue. Between each phase, I feel pretty great, but it's short-lived. I'm going to give it more time, but that's the initial reaction for me."

For Bipolar Disorder "It's just silence in my head, it's hard to think. I don't have schizophrenia. I just can't really think clearly. All night, I stayed up dizzy and nauseous, but I'm gonna continue the medicine in hopes that it loosens up and keeps me mellow-headed. After the initial nausea, I felt pretty chill. (If it gets better, I will keep you guys updated.)"

For Bipolar Disorder "Been on 2 mg of Abilify for exactly one month now — the first week I was sluggish and very nauseated, but almost instantly I started to notice a HUGE difference when it comes to depression, anxiety, and irritability (I have depression, anxiety, OCD, an eating disorder in remission, panic disorder, and BP1). I have felt a bit more manic than usual, but I was also just diagnosed with BP disorder about 2 months ago, so I think I am more “aware” of it. The lack of severe depression and irritability has sincerely changed my life — even friends and family have noticed. I am so grateful for my positive experience so far, but I do hope that with medication and therapy the mania begins to subside eventually to a point where I can control it."

For Bipolar Disorder "DO NOT TAKE IF YOU HAVE ANXIETY. It was a never-ending panic attack. It made my mania worse because of the anxiety and restlessness. It also made me extremely nauseous to the point where eating my favorite foods was a chore. The only positive was that it got me out of my depression that Seroquel put me in and made me feel like a normal human being again. The weight loss was a plus too, considering Seroquel made me gain so much weight."

"I dealt with nausea and overheating the summer of 2008. That winter, she gave me 15 mg, and it made the difference. I'm active-minded. I sleep 6 to 8 hours. I have energy to mow 8 lawns a week and work twenty-seven hours a week. Exercise is normal, but I tire when I mow too many lawns at once. Three average lawns work per day, the doctors are ecstatic and hopeful. One thing I did is lose 35 lbs in seven months-5 lbs per month. I'm 5'5" and was 235 lbs, and now I'm 203 lbs. Everyone I know says how great I look and feel! I'm me again, thanks ABILIFY!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I was on 0.5 mg of Abilify for two weeks. I couldn't stay still, couldn't sleep, couldn't smell food without getting sick to my stomach. I feel like I have to be doing something constantly. I get bad shakes all the time. I couldn't even eat, I lost weight, I only weighed 118 lbs to begin with. I was nauseous, I had to take nausea medication for something. I was in a constant state of anxiousness, and it was horrible. I'm glad it has worked well for other people, but this just wasn't for me. I'm off of it, and it took me a month to get out of my system. My psychiatrist changed me to Latuda 40 mg at night, and I have my life back. It took about two to three weeks for me to see the changes, but they did come. I enjoy everyday life now, I feel normal now. Your doctor can give you a coupon to pay no more than $15.00. I am on Latuda 40 mg at night and Klonopin 0.5 twice a day or as needed. No side effects."
