For Parkinson's Disease "I have been on amantadine for 2 months, and it has worked at times. Although, at times the shaking just continues. The shaking is there as a tremble at all times. Increase of dosage with no further effect. Shaking runs right through medication. I guess it is not for me."

For Head Injury "I have a mild traumatic brain injury, and after the first week of using it, it dramatically reduced the brain fog and improved cognitive function. However, after several months of use, no further improvement has been noticed."

For Multiple Sclerosis "I was given this for my chronic fatigue associated with multiple sclerosis. It did not work. I do have a cold and/or the flu now. This was ordered by my doctor because Provigil is no longer covered by Medicare Part D. To date, Provigil is the only medicine that has worked to keep me awake."

Amantadine for Parkinson's Disease "Gocovri seemed to be better at controlling dyskinesia than Amantadine. There was less abdominal cramping in the morning. I was taking the 68.5 mg capsule, which is the lowest dose before bedtime. However, Gocovri is very expensive. My co-pay was close to $450 per month. I felt the difference in comparing the two medications' ability to control the dyskinesia was not sufficient enough to warrant the excessive cost of Gocovri."

For Head Injury "I have a head injury, and with any cognitive task, I would get blurred vision, headaches, fatigue, fog. After about two weeks on amantadine, those symptoms have let up a lot when I do cognitive tasks. Hasn’t helped cognition a bit. But the neuro fatigue it has."

For Fatigue "I have been on amantadine 2 times a day for 5 years. In the last year, I started getting pain in my right shoulder and left side after I take the amantadine. I have had all kinds of tests ran, and everything is normal. I am in the process of tapering off the medication. Hopefully, the symptoms will stop when I am completely off the medication. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this?"

For Parkinson's Disease "I started taking it 2 weeks ago and noticed my tremors calmed down immediately. The side effects, however, are becoming unbearable. Insomnia and dizziness have been the main symptoms. I’ll give it a few more weeks before I call the doctor."

For Extrapyramidal Reaction "My son was given Abilify, which caused tardive dyskinesia. He was then given amantadine for the movements. It seems to be working well, but he is now having other problems: peeling on his hands, intermittent redness, and rashes."

Amantadine for Parkinson's Disease "Gocovri has reduced the length of time of my dyskinesia and reduced the severity as well. I am forced to go off of it due to the cost. Seems like the cost could be reduced to have more users. I can't afford $900 per month and then the donut hole! Back to Amantadine IR."

For Head Injury "Have noticed that amantadine really affects my sleep. I can’t stay asleep for long and want to be up and doing something. It does seem to have helped the brain fog a bit and made me more alert. I don’t like the sleeping issue or the fact you need to wean off it if you have been taking this for a long period of time."

For Extrapyramidal Reaction "I take an antipsychotic and had Parkinson's-like symptoms from that. The doctor put me on amantadine, and it seemed to help a little bit at first, but now I'm on a very high dose and I'm still having those symptoms. The one good thing I will say about this medication is that it didn't give me any side effects."

For Parkinson's Disease "Amantadine helped with some of my Parkinson's symptoms such as freezing, speech difficulty, rigidity, and balance. After 2 months of use of 100 mg BID, my ankles and feet started swelling, vision was blurry, and persistent low back pain started occurring. After reviewing side effects, I stopped taking it per neurologist's orders. I wish the side effects were tolerable, it helped a lot with PD symptoms."
