For Dietary Supplementation "I’ve tried taking ALA on two different occasions. The first time, I took it for about a month. The second time, for a week. Both times, the same symptoms. Still much burning in throat (although I was prescribed ALA for burning mouth syndrome), and it made my stomach hurt and bloat. No more!"

"My muscular neurologist has told me to take this supplement to aid in my pain, numbness, and tingling sensations in my legs, feet, arms, and hands. She started me at 1000 mg once a day and increased weekly until I am taking it 4 times a day. The first week, I noticed a significant change, although I suspect it is giving me a bad stomach ache along with bloating. I am up to 3 a day and quite happy with my improvement, but my stomach is a mess. I am going to continue for now and hope this issue will eventually go away. I also noticed a bit more energy while using this."

Alpha-lipoic acid for Dietary Supplementation "I took a total of 400-600 mg daily for burning mouth syndrome. After a month, the pain was still present and my stomach was bloated. Needless to say, I was very constipated. I'm reducing my dose drastically because the BMS pain is so bad, and I’m searching for relief. I’ve been prescribed the really strong meds but prefer a more natural route if possible. I do believe ALA helps certain people, but in my case, I don't know! Anyone else used it for BMS?"
