For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been on Alfuzosin for 4 months now. I had increasing difficulty peeing for several years, and it got to the point where I had a serious prostatitis, probably from lack of flow. After several months of antibiotics to clear the prostatitis, I can pee about 70% better. I take the medicine at dinner time every day. I notice a very slight dizziness sometimes when getting up. I notice a very slight feeling of tiredness all the time. I can have orgasms just fine, no problem with erection either. No diminishment in ejaculate I can detect. I feel I am at the point in life where I cannot pee without some kind of assistance, and this medicine seems to be a pretty good option. I will be continuing with it, probably for the long term."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "51 years old. I was on Rapaflo 8mg for about a year until insurance informed me they would not cover it anymore and offered four generic alternatives. Researched all four and found Alfuzosin reviews the least objectionable, so I asked my urologist for a prescription. Daily 10mg dose works just as well on urinary symptoms and does not cause dry orgasm. Slight headache and tiredness on the first day, but both are gone now. No other side effects. Happy so far with this medicine."

Alfuzosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Uroxatral was about as effective for me as Flomax with fewer side effects. It makes me very tired and lightheaded sometimes, but with none of the stuffiness that I had with Flomax, which was a big plus. I'm not rating it higher because it didn't do much for my BPH pain, although urinary flow was much improved. Herbal supplements of quercetin and beta sitosterol still work the best for me."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I switched from generic Flomax to Alfuzosin for BPH after dizzy episodes on Flomax were severe enough that I would have to lie down. Alfuzosin works about as well on the BPH symptoms of urgency and frequency as Flomax did, without the sudden dizzy episodes. However, while there are no sudden dizzy episodes with Alfuzosin, I am experiencing an all-the-time feeling of being tired and weak. I still can get through my workout, but the general overall fatigue is bothersome."

Alfuzosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have now used Uroxatral for six months. At first, when taking Uroxatral, I would easily tire and experienced stomach pain much of the day. Now, it seems my body has adjusted to the medicine and I am not as likely to become tired. I still have stomach discomfort but not as severe. One thing I have noticed which concerns me is the fact that Uroxatral seems to wear off easily, and the frequency to use the bathroom has not really disappeared. Overall, the drug seems to work well."

Alfuzosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "This made me tired and lethargic. I became so tired I didn’t even want to have sex. Not too popular with the wife. My symptoms of having to urinate all the time did not go away. I work for a living, and being tired all day does not cut it."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I am a very active 65 yr. old man. I took Alfuzosin for one week. The good: after 3 days, I noticed a significant reduction in the number of trips to the bathroom. That was awesome. The other amazingly weird thing was... I generally felt like I was 25 years younger. The usual aches and stiffness that a man my age accepts were gone, and my physical endurance was much better. The bad: I did have minor headaches that would creep into my day from time to time, and occasionally I felt tired. Also, my sex drive was diminished. The worst: I tried to have sex and had a hard time maintaining an erection. My penis is now disfigured. I have Peyronie's disease, no kidding."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Only been taking Alfuzosin for 3 weeks. It helped almost immediately with my BPH, however, the side effects of tiredness and sexual dysfunction are a very real issue. I will stop taking this medication, hoping my energy will return as well as my sex drive."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Been on finasteride and alfuzosin for 2 months, not impressed yet. Still up at night about three times, sex drive very low, seen Doc about severe pain in one testicle but that has settled down, but still very bad shoulder pain, also tired, so will try for a little while longer, then back to GP. See what other options I got."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Taking the drug at first seemed to work, however, after a while, I realized that I had lost the will to live. I became severely lethargic, weak, unstable, and had pains on my left side. I stopped taking the drug. I was also taking Moduretic, so between the two, I had my life totally screwed up. Frankly, more needs to be made immediately to clients, giving them a piece of paper with small or very small writing does not help at all. 10 mg after breakfast. I was given this drug in France."

"Female taking alfuzosin for urinary retention. I have had a neurogenic bladder for years. Frequency, incontinence, and retention after spine/back injury. I shied away from medications after a very bad reaction to Flomax, but recently went back to a urologist and he strongly advised taking something for the retention part because that can cause kidney issues and infections. I started on alfuzosin a few months ago. I still have the frequency and occasional accidents, but my residual went from 300-400 down to 45, so it’s definitely helping with retention and few side effects, mainly feeling tired but not as bad now. So I am sticking with it."

"Female. I have urinary retention and spastic bladder where I have accidents and urinary frequency. The only other medication I tried was Flomax, which I had a horrible reaction to. Recently went back to the urologist to try again, and he said it is neurogenic bladder and was prescribed Alfuzosin. I have been taking it for 2 months now, and the only side effect is it makes me tired, but I have gotten used to it, and it’s not as bad now. It has greatly improved retention, where before I would have a residual of 300-400, and now it is down to 50. It has not improved my accidents or the frequency that much, but at least it is helping me empty my bladder without having to straight cath, which my doctor was the most concerned about. For that, I give it a 10."
