For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "About 90 minutes after taking this, my heart rate shot up to over 100 at rest, 130 if I would stand up and walk around. It lasted 18 hours. Though I was going to have a heart attack, I almost went to the ER. I called the pharmacist. She said it was a known side effect and to not take it anymore. I'm glad my insurance paid for this, but still, it was twenty-five dollars down the toilet."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "A horrible drug. I took a 10 mg dose for five days before having severe side effects - racing heart, lower blood pressure, etc. Ended up in the ER twice, both times IV fluid was administered, which helped mitigate the effects (feel like I'm wearing a tight hat and someone is pushing down on the muscles in the sides of my neck). I have been off of it for over 7 days, and I'm still having issues. Yesterday, my blood pressure increased, and I thought I was having a heart attack. Felt like someone was squeezing my heart in a vice. Still have issues just slightly less than what I had before (still feels like I'm wearing a tight hat and someone is pushing down on the muscles in the sides of my neck). Afraid this may have caused me permanent damage."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have severe rhinitis, and this drug exacerbates it. I am taking Flonase to mitigate this issue. In addition, this drug causes me shortness of breath and a fast heartbeat if I do any exertion, like walking up the stairs. It seems to work well, but the side effects scare me."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Tried Flomax, but had retrograde climaxes and also an allergic reaction, my legs became very itchy, like poison ivy. Urologist switched me to alfuzosin, worked perfect, no problem with erections, climaxes normal, urine flow, retention, and frequency totally normal. But after 6 months, I started getting an increased heart rate at night. My resting pulse is usually a very good 55 to 60 (I exercise a lot), but I'd wake up and it would be 85. One time I got up to urinate and it was 109, but back to 76 within minutes. Many other times after it races to 80 or so, back to normal within 5 minutes. So I did an experiment: I only took it every other evening at 6 PM instead of every evening. Sure enough, I only got the increased pulse rate the nights I took the drug and didn't get any palpitations the nights I didn't take the drug. Will see the urologist next week."
