"It’s been tough with this medication. I've had the common side effects. I was on it for 8 months at 150 mg twice daily before being taken off after developing organizing pneumonia. It took 4 weeks after hospitalization to realize it wasn’t bacterial. I stayed off the medication for 10 months, then was put back on at 100 mg twice daily—only to be taken off again after 8 months when the pneumonia returned. My pulmonologist and oncologist don’t think I can go back on Verzenio. I have an appointment with my oncologist in a couple of weeks to discuss this further, as I haven’t seen her since I was advised by both specialists to stop taking it. I know I’m supposed to be on Verzenio for two years, so I’m naturally concerned since I don’t seem to tolerate it. I want to advocate for an alternative, but I’m not sure what that could be. I also wonder if there’s any way to take Verzenio without triggering these lung issues. It’s disheartening."

"I have been on Verzenio for 14 months. After 2 months, it shrank my tumor by 60%, and after 12 months, bone mets were almost gone. A 12-month PET scan showed no active cancer cells."

"I have been taking this for 18 months of the 2 years I am supposed to take it but am thinking of asking the consultant if I can come off it. I suffered initially with severe diarrhea but not for too long, however, the initial dose of 100 mg twice daily gave me excruciating lower abdomen pain, so this was dropped back to 50 mg twice daily and that dose suited me. As my infection resistance has, I believe, diminished over the months last year, I repeatedly had UTIs which, in the end, the GP put me on a preventative dose of Trimethoprim 100 mg daily. 10 months down the line, this is now not holding back the infection, which is why, amongst other things which are getting worse, I will be having the discussion with my consultant. Other side effects are now blood in my urine (which could be the long-term antibiotics), I am much more tired and have more bad days than good, aches in my hips and legs, sore gums, and sometimes no appetite at all."
