My husband was diagnosed by our family doctor (tested and confirmed) to have the flu on Wednesday (I had a flu shot, he didn't). Thursday I started getting symptoms (today I feel TERRIBLE) but called our family doctor right away and started Tamiflu last (Thursday) night. I'm supposed to have an unrelated surgery on Tuesday so I'm wondering how long Tamiflu takes to work?
Tamiflu is most effective when taken within the first 48 hours of the onset of symptoms. It does not treat the flu. It reduces the severity and length of illness. You are still contagious for 7 days after the symptoms began, even if you feel better.
Please do Rest. Drink plenty of fruit juice(especially containing VitC). Take Acetaminophen if you have a fever. If you get worse, call your doctor.
Take care.. I hope you feel better soon!
Hi! It typically takes Tamiflu about 48 hours to work, but you'll still be ill for a few days longer. One of the side effects of Tamiflu is vomiting so I highly recommend incorporating elderberry syrup 3 times a day as well. That'll help your immune system work more efficiently. Feel better!
