Calf Solutions BalanSure Medicated with Clarifly Larvicide Caution

The safety of Lasalocid in unapproved species has not been established. Do not allow horses or other equines, dogs or cats, access to feed containing Lasalocid as ingestion may be fatal.

WARNING

A withdrawal period has not been established for Lasalocid in pre-ruminating cattle. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal.

MIXING AND FEEDING DIRECTIONS

Measure 1.5 quarts of pasteurized milk (105-115°F) into a clean bucket. Sprinkle 4 oz. (1/4 lb.) of BalanSure® powder onto the milk surface and mix thoroughly while adding warm water to the two quart level. For large batches, mix 5 lb. of BalanSure® powder to 7.5 gallons of warm pasteurized milk and mix thoroughly while adding warm water to the 10 gallon level. Feed twice daily at 100-105°F.

For more comprehensive feeding directions, consult with your Calf Solutions® Specialist.

Feed to provide each calf 1 mg. of lasalocid per 2.2 lb.(1 kg.) of body weight per day. Hand feed in milk replacer powder. Feeding 1/2 pound of BalanSure® powder daily will medicate 124 pounds of bodyweight. Feed to provide sufficient diflubenzuron to prevent the emergence of adult house flies, stable flies, horn flies, and face flies from manure of treated cattle. Existing adult flies will not be affected. Start feeding early in the spring, 30 days before flies begin to appear, and continue feeding throughout the summer and into the fall until cold weather restricts fly activity. In some cases, supplemental fly control measures may be needed in and around barns and calf hutches to control adult house and stable flies, which can breed in other decaying organic matter or silage in the area, or that migrate in from other locations.

Warning

Do not add other sources of lasalocid to this milk solution.

OFFER FRESH WATER AT ALL TIMES.

IMPORTANT: Dry BalanSure® powder into pasteurized milk and feed immediately. When preparing large batches keep the mixture agitated while dispensing into individual feeding containers to prevent any settling, and thus the feeding of incorrect lasalocid and diflubenzuron levels.

For maximum stability, store the powder in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaving the package open for extended periods of time.

CALF CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

● Feed large breed calves 4 quarts of high quality colostrum within 2 hours of birth and again 12 hours later. Adjust amount for small breed calves.

● Begin feeding milk replacer or pasteurized whole milk on day two.

● Begin feeding calf starter free-choice in the first week. Feed a small amount at first and replace daily.

● Provide fresh, clean water at all times.

● Calves can be weaned from milk successfully when intake of calf starter reaches 2 pounds daily for 3 consecutive days.

● Environmental conditions may alter feeding rate. See your nutritionist for details.

The benefits of a comprehensive calf care program can result in more productive and profitable livestock.
