Directions For Use

BRONCHITIS VACCINE

ARK. TYPE, LIVE VIRUS

For use in animals only

Recommendation for use: For vaccination of healthy chickens at 1 day of age or older as an aid in the prevention of infectious bronchitis, Ark. type. For administration via eye drop (vials of 1000 doses only), drinking water or coarse spray (aerosol). A second dose should be given at 2 weeks of age or older. Consult with a veterinarian for recommendations on revaccination based on conditions existing in your area at any given time.

Eye drop administration: For use with vials of 1000 doses only - rehydrate with 30 ml diluent provided. Remove overseal and stopper from the vaccine vial and pour part of the diluent into it. Shake well and pour the vaccine back into the remaining diluent. Place the dropper tip on the diluent bottle. The vaccine is now ready for administration via eye drop. Hold the bird on its side with one eye turned up. Administer one drop of vaccine into the open eye and hold the bird until it swallows. To prevent injury, avoid touching the bird’s eye with the dropper tip.

Drinking water administration: Remove the overseal and stopper from the vaccine vial and add clean non-sanitized water to it. Shake well and pour the vial contents into a container of non-sanitized water. Dilute the vaccine as outlined in the chart below. A dried skim milk powder should be used a vaccine stabilizer at the rate of 8.0 g per gallon (2.1 g per liter) of drinking water. Add the skim milk powder to the water prior to reconstitution of the vaccine. Remove medication or sanitizers from the drinking water 24 hours before and 24 hours after vaccination. Rinse waterers with clean non-sanitized water. Remove water from chicks at least 2 hours before vaccination. Provide adequate space so that at least 2/3 of the birds can drink at one time. Add vaccine mixture to the water as per the following chart:

Divide the mixed vaccine into the waterers. Administration through the water lines with a proportioner or medication tank is not recommended. Provide no other drinking water until all vaccine has been consumed.

Coarse spray (aerosol) administration: Rehydrate the vaccine with cool distilled water in an amount sufficient enough to vaccinate the required number of birds according to the directions of the spray cabinet or field sprayer manufacturer. Field spray application should be used only in houses that can be tightly closed. Close all windows, doors, vents, etc. and turn off fans. Spray each 1000 doses of vaccine directly into the faces of 1000 birds. Leave house closed for at least 15 minutes after spraying. Always use appropriate personal protective equipment during vaccination.

Vaccination reaction: Respiratory symptoms will be more pronounced from the first vaccination and will vary with the age and the level of parental immunity in the chicks. While birds are going through the reaction period, keep them comfortable by providing adequate heat and ventilation.
