Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking methyl salicylate topical (the active ingredient contained in Heet Analgesic Liniment) hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Wash the skin and get medical attention right away if you have severe burning, pain, swelling, or blistering of the skin where you applied this medication.

Less serious side effects may include a mild cold or burning sensation.
