- Premphase (conjugated estrogens / medroxyprogesterone)
- rifapentine
Interactions between your drugs
conjugated estrogens rifapentine
Applies to: Premphase (conjugated estrogens / medroxyprogesterone), rifapentine
Rifapentine may reduce the blood levels and effects of conjugated estrogens. If you are using conjugated estrogens for birth control, you may be at increased risk for pregnancy or breakthrough bleeding. You should discuss the use of alternative or additional methods of birth control with your healthcare provider. If you take conjugated estrogens for another purpose, such as hormone replacement for menopause, notify your doctor if your medication is no longer controlling your symptoms or you experience abnormal bleeding. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
medroxyPROGESTERone rifapentine
Applies to: Premphase (conjugated estrogens / medroxyprogesterone), rifapentine
Rifapentine may decrease the blood levels and effects of medroxyPROGESTERone. You may need a dose adjustment if you have been taking medroxyPROGESTERone and are starting treatment with rifapentine. Contact your doctor if your condition changes during treatment with these medications. The interaction is not expected to occur if you are getting medroxyPROGESTERone by shot for birth control. However, let your doctor know if you experience bleeding outside of your menstrual cycle, since it may indicate reduced effectiveness of medroxyPROGESTERone. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
rifapentine food
Applies to: rifapentine
Food enhances the absorption of rifapentine and may reduce the incidence of stomach upset, nausea, and/or vomiting. However, if rifapentine is part of a combination product, the recommendations may differ. Talk to your healthcare provider if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
