Drug Interaction Report
1 potential interaction and/or warning found for the following 2 drugs:
- meropenem / vaborbactam
- probenecid
Interactions between your drugs
probenecid meropenem
Applies to: probenecid, meropenem / vaborbactam
GENERALLY AVOID: Coadministration with probenecid may increase the plasma concentrations of meropenem. The mechanism involves competitive inhibition of the renal excretion of meropenem via active tubular secretion. In pharmacokinetic studies, probenecid increased meropenem systemic exposure (AUC) by 56% and elimination half-life by 38%.
MANAGEMENT: The use of meropenem in combination with probenecid is not recommended by the manufacturer.
