Ask your doctor before using cholestyramine together with leflunomide. Using these medications together can make leflunomide less effective. Do not take cholestyramine with any other medication. Cholestyramine binds to other drugs and reduces their effectiveness, which could become dangerous. Leflunomide can be taken with or without food. It is important to take leflunomide regularly to get the most benefit. Discuss with your doctor the use of alcohol while taking leflunomide. Alcohol and leflunomide can both be damaging to the liver.

Cholestyramine may interfere with the absorption of certain vitamins such as A, D, E and K. Therefore, it is recommended that you take multivitamin with minerals at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours after cholestyramine to minimize the risk of interaction.
