Use these dosage guides for infants and children younger than 12 years old.
Advil (ibuprofen) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the temporary relief of:
- fever
- minor aches and pains due to the common cold, flu, headache, sore throat and toothache.
Always read the label on the bottle and follow the directions for use carefully before giving a dose.
Advil is used in adults and children who are at least 6 months old.
Infants’ Advil Dosage
Infants' ADVIL Drops (ibuprofen 50 mg in 1.25 mL)
- Use only enclosed syringe specifically designed for use with this product. Do not use any other dosing device.
- Shake well before using.
- Find the right dose on the chart below. Use the child's weight for dose. If the child's weight is not available, use the child's age.
- Dispense liquid slowly into the child's mouth, toward the inner cheek
- If needed, repeat dose every 6-8 hours, do not dose more than 4 times a day.

Children's Advil Dosage
Children's ADVIL Oral Suspension (ibuprofen 100 mg in 5 mL)
- Use only enclosed dosing cup, do not use any other dosing device.
- Dose lines account for product remaining in cup due to thickness of suspension.
- Shake well before using.
- Find the right dose on the chart below. Use the child's weight for dose. If the child's weight is not available, use the child's age.
- If needed, repeat dose every 6-8 hours, do not dose more than 4 times a day.
- Replace original bottle cap to maintain child resistance.
