For Migraine Prevention "Verapamil was given to me for migraines in the same week I was placed on ziprasidone. They didn't mix well. Had a horrible reaction: heart dysrhythmia, and weakened my kidneys. My lesson to all: read and know all warnings of all new medications."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been taking 240 mg of Verapamil every night for my migraine headaches for three months, and it has worked wonders for me. I occasionally get small headaches, but they don't last long, and it is nothing compared to my migraine headaches and nausea that I used to experience. I experienced some swelling of my feet and ankles when I first started taking it, but it went away."

For Cluster Headaches "I've been experiencing chronic cluster headaches since 2005. I had no idea what was going on, and suffered for 3 years untreated and undiagnosed. After some internet sleuthing, I was able to tell my doc what was going on. Fast forward to 2016. I take verapamil 180 mg ER twice a day. This treatment has worked almost without fail, until just recently. In the past, I have had to take other meds in combination with the verapamil, such as Topamax, Imitrex, magnesium, prednisone, and now lithium. None of these work for me, been having daily headaches again. I now have a sumatriptan injection I take when I feel one coming, and it stops it within 10 minutes. I need help, please."

For Supraventricular Tachycardia "Recently been given these to try after issues taking Ivabradine. I have been taking 3 40 mg tablets a day to control tachycardia, heart palpitations, migraines, and cluster headaches. So far, they haven't helped at all."

For Arrhythmia "Been on verapamil for 2 months and taking 120 mgs 3 times a day. I’m very sweaty and have banging headaches/migraines constantly, and my legs have swollen and random orange/red-like rashes. Still, my heartbeat is too fast, but hoping it may settle, as it is still early days."

For High Blood Pressure "This stuff sucks! Was put on it a couple of years ago for a TBI to stop migraines. Didn’t work, and all it did was make me sick and screw my BP up. I am now stuck with my pressure being a roller coaster ride and flip a coin to see if it’s high or low. You should try something else."

For High Blood Pressure "I'm on Verapamil for high blood pressure, and I have the uncommon symptoms like edema, dizziness, shortness of breath, and hair loss. I'm trying to get off of it, and I normally take 240 mg per day, and yesterday I took 1/2 of a pill less, and my BP went up 20 points. I'm trying to find a BP med that works better with my body."

Verapamil for Supraventricular Tachycardia "I used verapamil for 5 years to treat supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). With each visit to the doctor, they increased my dosage. I started out taking 30 mg once a day and ended with 180 mg once a day. For the most part, my symptoms were never controlled. The drug caused extreme fatigue and tiredness. I often had severe headaches and was constipated. I have been switched to atenolol 50 mg once a day now. Hopefully, I won't have as many unwanted side effects."

For Cluster Headaches "My fiancé started with cluster headaches about six years ago. At first, he was misdiagnosed by two doctors. We had to relocate due to work and found the best neurologist at Hershey Medical. He was diagnosed within seconds as having cluster headaches. It was explained that these headaches are usually misdiagnosed. The doctor put him on verapamil 120 ER and sumatriptan nasal along with oxygen. We had to increase to 180, but my fiancé has finally begun to live a more normal life. He still gets the episodes, but we are learning to adjust his meds as needed. THANK GOD AND HERSHEY MEDICAL."

Verapamil for Cluster Headaches "I get episodic cluster headaches, and taking this medication keeps the headaches from happening. I took 80 mg three times a day the first time it was prescribed, but had to double the dosage this time around."

For Cluster Headaches "Began episodic cluster headaches 15 years ago at age 49. 5 years later, they became chronic. Suffered terribly for a few years until I was prescribed verapamil 80 mg tabs with a dose up to 240 mg 3x/day. I continually self-regulate my dosage to the minimum effective dose; increasing (up to the maximum) when clusters try to break through, then slowly cutting back to whatever keeps the clusters away. My normal maintenance dose is about 120 mg to 160 mg 3x/day. When I have my dose right, I get zero indication of headaches, not even a hint. I have had no side effects with any dosage of verapamil daily for 9 years but wonder if occasional dizziness may be attributable to the verapamil. Neither slow-release verapamil nor Imitrex worked for me."

For Cluster Headaches "I have had chronic cluster headaches for the past 6 years. My doctor tried all the usual meds to no avail. I did my own research and told him about trying verapamil. I am now cluster-free for the past 7 months! Yes, there are side effects (weight gain, sore neck for a couple of weeks), but being that I was able to break the cycle at the lowest dosage (80 mg 3x/day), I am beyond thrilled!"

For Cluster Headaches "Spent 20 years trying to get a correct diagnosis of what ended up being cluster headaches. Finally diagnosed by a neurologist and started taking verapamil hydrochloride 240 mg once per day during cluster cycles with amazing results. Takes up to 9 days to work, but boy, does it work! Amazing results for this cluster sufferer. Has made my life worth living again. Side effects are minimal. If you have cluster headaches, then you really need this miracle pill!"

For Arrhythmia "I have been taking Verapamil ER 180 mg once daily for arrhythmia for less than a week, but my pulse hasn’t gone down below 100. I also have ankylosing spondylitis and pulmonary hypertension. I feel anxious all the time. Could this be a combination of all my health problems?"

For Migraine Prevention "I use Verapamil ER 240 mg for the last 1.5 years, it has helped reduce my migraines down to 4-5 a month from 12+ a month. I was told to watch my blood pressure because my blood pressure always runs low, so I bought a blood pressure machine, and in the beginning, my blood pressure was stable, but within the past 8 or so months, it has been running higher than my normal. Even at rest, it is high! I tried to look it up on the internet to see if anyone else has had this issue or if there was anything to show that it does increase blood pressure, but found nothing. And when I mention it to my neurologist, along with the fact that since I've been taking this, I've been getting random bruising (I will wake up and have 2-3 new ones!), but he states that it does not do that and that it must be my other meds, which I've been taking for years without this problem!"

For Cluster Headaches "I have been suffering from cluster headaches periodically for the past 3 years. Did some research online and decided to ask my doc for some verapamil. Last Christmas, I started taking it just before a holiday party and accidentally found out it also calms my anxiety. I was able to relax and talk to people like a normal person and actually enjoyed people's company. It was a while since I felt that way in a social situation, and I am so glad I came across verapamil."

Verapamil for Supraventricular Tachycardia "I have been taking Calan SR 120 for over 10 years now. My episodes of SVT occur at most a couple of times a year and then for a short duration. My pharmacy issued me a generic once because Calan was not available, and I had SVTs almost daily. I was very glad when Calan became available again. I would not like to be without it."

Verapamil for Cluster Headaches "Calan SR worked miracles for me. It doesn't stop the headaches; over a short period of time, the drug builds up in your system, and then you can feel an attack coming on (the eye starting to droop and some nasal congestion). Then, voila, the headache is aborted!"

For Cluster Headaches "I'm 41 years old and suffer from episodic cluster headaches for the last 3 years. First, I thought I had migraines, but the pain was so severe, and it returns every year, same day, same time for the last 3 years. I was devastated and did my own research. I'm now on 3 x 80 mg verapamil a day, and I'm cluster headache free. I do live in Mexico, and verapamil or verapimilo is available over the counter for 15.00 pesos (1.00 US $) for 10 pills (80 mg) without prescription. It's amazing! I tried the lowest dose first. Thank you, verapamil."

Verapamil for Nocturnal Leg Cramps "For several years, I had SEVERE nighttime leg cramps. They got so bad that the veins in my legs would bulge out of my skin from my toes to my groin area. I would be unable to walk, so my husband would help me to the tub, where he would have it filled with the hottest water I could tolerate, which really helped a lot, and I would take 2 OTC leg cramp pills. But the veins popping out got so severe my husband took me to the Dr. (again!), and we explained about the veins popping out. He sat there for a moment, and then, like a light bulb came on, he said, 'Let's try something. I'm going to put you on a channel blocker, and let's see if that helps.' That was 2 years ago, and I no longer get leg cramps where the veins are popping out!"

For Cluster Headaches "This medicine is very effective. It did stop my cluster headaches the day after initially taken. However, the side effects (unusual weight gain, sinus pain, constipation, bloating, shortness of breath) have outweighed the benefits. Going to the Dr. tomorrow for alternative therapy."

For Cluster Headaches "I'm on my 3rd recurrence of cluster headaches, and this time I managed to get to the doctor and renew my verapamil prescription right away after my first attack, and it's worked immediately. I'm a solid week in now and have not gotten another attack. I'm on 80 mg 3x per day. It's worked well for me during past episodes, but I was really surprised that it controlled this recurrence so immediately."

For High Blood Pressure "I took verapamil 240mg for three weeks, which did lower my BP nicely, but my feet swelled up and got red. I also had extreme back pain. The doctor reduced the dosage to 120mg, but I am still experiencing issues with feet swelling and back pain. It's worth noting that when I stopped taking verapamil, the swelling and back pain went away."

For Cluster Headaches "I was prescribed Verapamil a few years ago. I was suffering from uncontrollable cluster headaches, and no other medication seemed effective. Once started on Verapamil, using it as a prophylactic medicine against the onset of cluster headaches, I didn't get any more cluster headaches. This is a wonder medicine to me!"

For Cluster Headaches "Been having cluster headaches for twelve years. I'm on my fourth cycle now. My cycles come about every three years. I tell everybody I know cluster headaches are so painful. I'm so blessed to have been prescribed verapamil by the first doctor that I was seen by. Verapamil usually takes 10-14 days to fully work. I'm so thankful for all the advice, and it's good to hear from people who understand my pain."
