For High Blood Pressure "I was switched from amlodipine to verapamil. While it maintained my BP, my heart rate was still high. The first day felt great, after that, I felt like I was dying. Memory loss, confusion, heart palpitations, high anxiety (never been anxious), scared to leave the house. I begged my cardiologist and GP to take me off this medication. I took it for 3 weeks, and it was the worst time of my life. It hurt my throat and esophagus, I had diarrhea, lost 15 lbs, and was in pain every day."

Verapamil for Arrhythmia "Not happy at all with this drug. 3 weeks on it and have extreme stomach pain, nausea, palpitations, very dry mouth, light-headedness. Would like to hold out to see if my body becomes adjusted, but can't function like this. My cardiologist is away, so I have to find a doctor who can help."

For Supraventricular Tachycardia "Recently been given these to try after issues taking Ivabradine. I have been taking 3 40 mg tablets a day to control tachycardia, heart palpitations, migraines, and cluster headaches. So far, they haven't helped at all."

Verapamil for High Blood Pressure "I have been on Verapamil 200 mg ER for two months. Recently, I started getting palpitations, feeling dizzy, skipped beats, and a fluttering and coughing sensation in my throat area and slow HB. I called my doctor and lowered my dose to 100 mg, and he scheduled me for a Holter monitor to see if it’s the medication. I am hoping it is, and maybe he can switch me back to Toprol XR."

For Arrhythmia "I’m taking 240 ER for over 10 years. I take it prior to bed. If I forget a pill, I get palpitations with chest pressure and SOB. The meds have been great, however, at one point, I stopped taking it for two weeks with a strong return of symptoms. Starting the meds takes a day or two to become effective. I don’t miss any more pills."
