For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I am 21. I've had herpes since I was 15, and these pills have saved my life 100%. I am now engaged and live a normal life. I don't take them every day, just when I feel an outbreak coming, and it doesn't happen! I haven't had an outbreak in 2 years! Strongly recommend Valtrex :)"

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I contracted genital herpes when I was 16 years old, and I am now 36. I had few outbreaks until I turned 21. Then, I began getting an outbreak every 4-6 weeks. This was devastating for me, since my entire adult sexuality was practically defined by the stigma of herpes. I felt unlovable many times. I began taking Valtrex at 23 and it was life-changing for me. I had no outbreaks. After 7-8 years of taking the medication, I tried to get off of it, but sadly, I suffered chronic outbreaks again. I always thought that when I got older, and perhaps lived a more balanced lifestyle, that I would be able to get off of this medication with only 2-3 outbreaks a year, as that would be manageable to me. This has not been the case, hoping for a cure!"

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I am going to turn 70 years old in March. I have had HSV for 42 years. I take the 500mg dose as soon as I know it's going to start up, and if I neglect taking it for whatever reason, it flares up. One of the things that I noticed that is sure to get it going is Sunbathing. I have become a vegan and live a very healthy lifestyle, which really helps the immune system."

For Herpes Zoster "Be aware I am anti-big pharma on numerous levels. I fought using any kind of pharmaceutical for decades. I have chronic shingles that keeps occurring on my left back hip. A pinched nerve triggers when sitting for very long. I hate to say it, but Valtrex saved me. Taking one 500 mg about once every 3 days, and have not been plagued with any shingles since taking it 6 months ago. It also seemed to relieve about 50% of the pain associated with the outbreak area. Not sure what the connection is. I also have genital herpes that pops up every couple of months (before taking Valtrex). Nothing has appeared in over 6 months. This drug has been a godsend (okay, I'll give the manufacturer a high five for this one, as much as I hate to say it)."

For Cold Sores "I was one of those 'just live with your cold sore outbreaks' people until I was introduced to Valtrex. Stress triggers my cold sores and I tried everything over the counter. Abreva made my outbreaks worse and I became pretty hopeless at this point. Long story short, at college I had such a big outbreak I decided to see the Health Center & I was prescribed just 1 Valtrex tab about 2 days into the outbreak. The morning after I took the pill, I felt like days had gone by because it had healed so fast. If you get cold sores, you do not need to deal for 10 days. If you take a Valtrex at the first sign of symptoms, either your blister does not even form, or you're looking at a 2 day hassle as opposed to a day 10 disaster."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I've been taking Valtrex for almost 18 years for suppression of cold sores. I would get them all the time before Valtrex, probably like 7 a year. I started with a daily dose of 500mg and would get one every now and again. I upped it to 1 gram and haven't had an outbreak in more than 10 years! Now, I'm back down to 500mg and if I feel an outbreak coming on, I'll put a little Zovirax on it with some DMSO after, and the sore goes away within 30 minutes. The combination works well. Hope this helps."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I took 500 mg Valtrex daily for almost a year while I had insurance back in 2005. I've had herpes since 1980, and I'm almost 59 now... I experienced outbreaks almost monthly for most of my adult life, and often several of them. Right after I got my last tattoo, I got five at once. In any case, during the entire time I was taking Valtrex, I experienced zero lesions. I finally have insurance again, and I asked my doctor for a prescription, which she gave me, but is only to shorten episodes. I really want the daily doses so I can maybe even think about having a relationship with someone. In my book, Valtrex is a miracle drug."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I had eczema on the skin accompanied by fever and joint pain for the first time last year and was diagnosed HSV2 by IgG positive test. I took Valtrex for two and a half months, and the following IgG test was negative. I repeated the test three months later, still IgG negative. My doctor does not know why. I would suggest those that have been taking Valtrex for a longer time (at least some months) right from the first outbreak to take a new IgG test. Maybe the Valtrex period of some months assists in the body reducing the number of virus through repeated life cycles such that it does not cause IgG antibodies. I like to add that the HSV1, which I had since long, gave a positive IgG response in all three IgG tests."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I have had herpes since 10 years old or so. I didn't know then that there was a medicine for this. I have had outbreaks during the whole of my life until I was 26 and googled the medicine for herpes. My doctor prescribed Valtrex to me after this and it's the best medicine I have ever taken (except antibiotics). This was life-changing for me and the best option. I don't take it daily though. Whenever I feel that an outbreak is coming, I take 2x500 mg and the herpes disappears in a few hours. Thanking the chemists that found this. Happy New Year!"

For Cold Sores "Valtrex is amazing. I never knew this magical medication existed until I began working for a physician after college. She prescribed it to me, and I couldn’t believe how well and fast it worked. No more two weeks of embarrassment and isolation with these gross blisters on my lips and face! I always keep two doses on hand: 1G and 500mg. For best results, I suggest 2 grams twice daily on day 1 and then 500mg twice daily for a day or two after. I have an outbreak as we speak, took the high dose yesterday, and one 500mg this morning, and it’s dried out! I will take one more dose tonight and should be good! Highly recommend!"

For Cold Sores "Every time I tell someone about this miracle medicine, I am hoping that they are listening to me. If you get cold sores, this is ESSENTIAL. I never leave home without it. I use it in combination with L-Lysine to reduce symptoms. I am getting one right now and did not feel the tingle, so I am hoping it will still work. Sometimes there is just no getting rid of a nasty, tough one. I am 23 years old, and when I have a cold sore, I absolutely obsess over it and I try to hide my face as much as possible. I hope they someday find a CURE for this virus, but in the meantime Valtrex is amazing!"

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I take 500 mg Valtrex daily as a suppressant, and I have done so for the past 4 years. I still get the occasional small outbreak and apply wild oregano oil to the infected area. It stings but is absolutely amazing. It's antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal, and it clears up the herpes outbreak in rapid time."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I took Valtrex for about 3 years. I was having terrible side effects after about a year and a half, but I did not want an outbreak, so I kept taking it. I felt like total crap almost every day for months. One day, I realized I was out of my prescription and had to call the doctor for my yearly refill. I stopped taking it! I am a completely different person off of the pills. I no longer feel depressed. I was having all the side effects. I had a dull ache in the right side of my body that radiated from my hip to my breast. A week after stopping the pills, all my symptoms were gone, and the pain in my side was gone. I think back to a few weeks ago and never want to wake up every day feeling the way I did. I will deal with outbreaks. No more Valtrex."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "Since I started on a half-tablet-a-day dose of Valtrex, I've seen a 100% improvement in my outbreaks. I had had extremely painful outbreaks many times throughout last year, about 5-6. I was terribly reluctant to go on any kind of medication for my symptoms, as I always try to treat myself naturally. I tried every herbal remedy, including rubbing organic garlic on my blisters, which stung like hell but did help a little. Valtrex completely kept them away, and for the first time in almost 12 months, I regained the confidence to start dating again and even share my condition with my date. I was finally living my life again without the thought in the back of my mind. Until this week, when my 3-month prescription ran out. Today I am due for an appointment to see if I can get more. But 5 days after finishing my last dose, I already have one dreaded blister back, reminding me of how I suffered."

For Cold Sores "I'd suffered quite a few breakouts of cold sores before discovering Valtrex, so I know the pain and the lengthy healing process all too well. This literally stops cold sores in their tracks the moment you take it. Whatever condition the cold sore is in when you take the medicine, it will not get worse, only better, so the sooner the better. If you take it AFTER the cold sore has become blister(s), it will stop the blister from multiplying, BUT you would have to deal with the blisters bursting, exposing the ulcer and then the healing of the ulcer. If you take it at the tingling/itchy stage of the cold sore BEFORE any blister is formed, you should be able to get away with the breakout altogether. Good luck!"

For Cold Sores "I went to the doctor with a bottom lip full of cold sores. I was swollen beyond anything. The doctor prescribed Valtrex, 1 gram, 3 times a day (every 8 hours). Well, 24 hours have passed, my swelling is down to almost normal, and I'm already in the scab stage. AMAZING! I will be keeping this on hand all the time. By the way, I have been suffering with cold sores for 20 years, and have used everything from Abreva to L-Lysine to other homeopathic remedies. These are the quickest results EVER. Definitely worth the money."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "Such a great pill! I contracted HSV-2 when I was only 17 by my boyfriend who cheated on me, one week before my high school graduation. I started taking it only when having outbreaks until shortly after I was having 3-4 a month. I was beyond depressed. My doctor told me about suppressive medicine, taking it twice a day (500 mg), and ever since then I have been clear of any sign of an outbreak. I'm going on month 5 with no symptoms. Makes me feel myself again! Remember ALWAYS USE PROTECTION!"

For Cold Sores "51-year-old healthy male. In my 30s and 40s, I would get the worst cold sores. I was prescribed Valtrex about 10 years ago as needed for outbreaks. The outbreaks lessened in recent years, to maybe 1-2 a year, and shorter/less painful. However, in the last 6 months, I've started having recurrent outbreaks, about once every 4-6 weeks, age, stress most likely. My doctor started prescribing me Valtrex daily. Today, I got up from bed and had a very small cold sore on the corner of my mouth. Very frustrated and took an additional 1g tablet to help, and thankfully, it hasn't become worse. Will see over time if it works on frequency. I will say, Valtrex has helped shorten the duration (now just a few days compared to weeks before), lessen the severity and pain (now small, barely there ones). In rare occasions, I've been able to stop an outbreak before it occurs, but that's so hard to do. I am very empathetic to my fellow cold sore strugglers, and to me the best cold sore is no cold sore at all."

For Cold Sores "I used to get cold sores frequently and have become so anxious about getting them that I keep a script for Valtrex in my wallet. After three years of being cold sore free, I felt the burn and saw a patch of redness on my top lip. I immediately went to the pharmacy, filled the script, and took my first gram of Valtrex within an hour of the first tingling/burning. I went to bed and woke up perfectly fine and took the second dosage nonetheless. I have no cold sore, no redness, nothing. I can't begin to tell you how much of a relief it was to wake up without that horrible throbbing, swollen blister. I so highly recommend this. I can't imagine being without it now."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I'm 62 and have lived with it since June of 1978...almost 40 years! Just started Valtrex this summer because outbreaks were literally constant with 3 to 5 lesions at once! The itching...omg! Had to numb with an ice cube in a plastic bag and it worked, too! For some reason, this disease has become worse in the last few years, which my OB-GYN cannot understand. Back in the early 80s, Time magazine wrote a long article on it as it was newer and before the AIDS epidemic hit. In it was a line that said, 'this thing has a mind of its own,' and 'you won't kill it, but it won't kill you either!' So true!! Google the article as I found it online a few months ago. And...take care."

For Cold Sores "I take Valtrex for cold sores. Just taking 2, twice a day for one day, and the next day it is gone. It is really a lifesaver. Anyone who has ever had a cold sore should really talk to your doctor about keeping Valtrex on hand."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I got diagnosed with genital herpes in February 2016. I did 500 mg for 7 days when I was expecting an outbreak. But I kept getting them. They switched me to 1 g daily about 6 months ago, and I'm still non-stop getting them. I've had 3 that have been so bad, and they've left scars. I'm in extreme pain and don't know what to do. Why isn't my medication working?"

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I was diagnosed with herpes simplex type 1 in early 2016. Began taking valacyclovir every day once diagnosed. It has completely saved my life and my confidence. It's an easy pill to take, and I haven't had any outbreaks or symptoms since the initial outbreak. If you're suffering, this is the medication to take! Best wishes to all!"

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I take Valtrex for suppressive therapy. My daily life is so much more manageable emotionally and physically since taking Valtrex as a suppressive treatment. For those who suffer with this virus, you will understand how our lows are very low when experiencing regular outbreaks. Valtrex allows my condition to be a minor inconvenience and no longer a dark, lonely place. I now experience an outbreak twice yearly."
