For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking Mounjaro 2.5 mg on September 6th, weighing in at 128 kilos. I'm now on my 7th shot of 10 mg (as I stayed on 10 mg for another month over Christmas) and I weigh 106 kilos in January. This is without changing my lifestyle of exercise or food. I eat smaller portions and don't think about food half as much as I used to. It's been great up until my 6th shot of 10 mg. I would experience mild side effects of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sulfur burps. These tended to be spread across the board as well though, never all at the same time, and it was manageable. However, my 6th dose I felt instantly! I was nauseous for 3 days straight, vomiting, diarrhea, sulfur burps, tired, the list is endless. I was so worn out by the nausea, I couldn't sleep, eat, or drink. I took myself to the walk-in center at the hospital where they referred me straight to A&E for having a resting heart rate of 128 bpm. I was put on an IV drip, bloods taken. I felt awful and still do! Going to go back to 7.5 mg."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor recommended Mounjaro. I objected because of previous experience with side effects from Byetta, Victoza, and Trulicity. He said the side effects were mild. I agreed to try 2.5, that was a horrible decision! My heart rate elevated, pulse and blood pressure increased, couldn’t eat, diarrhea, vomiting, loss of sense of balance. Went to the doctor 2 days later, and I was so dehydrated I required 2 1/2 bags of IV solution to help me drive home. I can’t remember ever being so sick. I will never take it again or recommend it to anyone!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Horrible experience taking this drug. I do not recommend taking this medication unless you want to die. I started taking 2.5 mg 6 days ago. Day 2 and 3 had no appetite and ate very little because the thought of food made me sick. Day 4 and 5 developed nausea, severe abdominal pain, and indigestion unrelieved by antacids. I also have lost five lbs because I am unable to eat or drink anything. I do not have any energy or feel like doing anything. Day 6 and I still feel sick. My fasting blood sugar this morning was 224 even though I am not eating or drinking hardly anything at all. It is noon, and I haven’t eaten anything because I’m afraid I will throw up. My heart rate is 120 and normally runs in the eighties. My doctor is out of the office this week for holidays. Just hoping and praying I don’t wind up in the emergency room. I will never inject this toxic stuff into my body again. I also read that it can cause thyroid cancer."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I completely lost my appetite after being on a 2.5 mg dose with zero side effects. After one month, I increased to 5 mg and still had zero side effects and no appetite. I lost 20 pounds in 10 weeks. Now I’m on 7.5 mg, but my heart rate is 15-20 beats faster. Still losing weight. Not sure I’m going to increase my dose to mg. Want to stay at 7.5 mg and watch my heart rate. Still not hungry and asymptomatic with increased heart rate. I’ve lost 25 pounds in 11 weeks. I weigh 193, down from 220. I’m 5 foot nine. Not diabetic. I’d like to lose 15 to 20 pounds more and no more than that."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This medication works well for weight loss. I have been on it for 6 months and have lost 40 pounds, to where I am within 10 pounds of a normal weight. I’ve been on all of the doses. The gastro effects were very hard at first, but did go away. The more difficult and harder-to-tolerate side effects for me are increased heart rate and extreme fatigue, almost flu-like for 5 days after taking each shot. It makes me not want to get out of bed at all. It’s pretty close to depression. I’m trying to space out the medication to maintain my weight loss but not feel like I got run over by a truck all the time."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Type 2 - I had been on Ozempic. It made me vomit/diarrhea, had Charley horses and hand tremors, and I was belching acid. After 3 months, my Endo switched me to Mounjaro, stating it was stronger, but many people tolerate it better. Week one, I was sick six days. All the same symptoms I had on Ozempic, only more severe. Heart rate 15 beats higher per minute. Week two, I was sick five days. Week three, within 12 hours, all the same symptoms began, and more. The vomiting was severe (mouth and nose). The belching was rank smelling/tasting. Diarrhea. My appetite was definitely curbed. My belly sounded like a flood of water flowing through my innermost pipes but felt numb. Eyes were so dry. My watch alerted me that at night my respiration rate was dipping to 7.5. (Did not even know my watch tracked that!) My heart rate dipped to 45. My blood sugar went to 43. Felt like I was not going to breathe or control peeing. And more! Day five, I ended up in the hospital in AFIB with a high heart rate. ICU."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Slow weight loss, but a great A1C drop. Side effects, especially increased heart rate, are annoying. However, the lack of food noise is AWESOME. Hope it continues when I reach my goals and I can reduce my dosage."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I was able to lose 25 pounds in 4 months. Great... But I was nauseated 75% of the time and felt like I starved myself because of the GI upset. I had no energy. And when I increased to 7.5 mg, within 6 hours... My heart nor B/P could not tolerate it. Resting heart rate stayed over 90 bpm and blood pressure remained high for 3 days after injection. We shall see where we go from here... I'm 58 and made my very first ER visit (since I was 10)... Thinking I was having a heart attack. With the high heart rate and B/P... I was having shortness of breath and chest tightness. Scared me to death. Everything checked out fine at the hospital. Think I need to back down to 5 mg."

For Type 2 Diabetes "The drug is very effective at lowering my A1C and fasting glucose levels. All the normal or common side effects were mild or non-existent. They all passed except one, a 10 BPM increase in heart rate. That 10 BPM increase is not a functional or health issue at rest or doing everyday activities. However, I am a serious cyclist and do workouts of moderate to high intensity and, at times, to the point of reaching my maximum heart rate. So now, at any given workout pace, my heart is beating 10 BPM more than before for that same physical effort. As I increase the intensity, the extra 10 BPM becomes an issue. I now exceed my heart's lactic threshold sooner than before, riding slower than before I started Mounjaro."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "2.5 worked great, no side effects. When I moved to the 5.0, I started to have increased heart rate. I am going to talk to my doctor about going back to the 2.5. So far, lost 20 lbs in 3 months."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "It made me really panicky, anxious. Also, I had a fast heart rate, ended up in A&E with tachycardia. It was not a good experience."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I took Mounjaro for 10 weeks and lost 7 pounds. Each week I would have a day or so of mild nausea, but no other side effects. In the 10th week, I thought I had a stomach virus but was not throwing up or having diarrhea. After a night of no sleep, I was in severe pain, my heart rate was spiking, and I was very dizzy. I ended up in the ER. All tests were negative so they did an abdominal CAT scan which showed paralysis of the small intestines...(paralytic ileus). Nothing was moving through my bowels so everything backed up into the stomach. No wonder I could not eat. It was the worst 'stomach bug' I ever had. I am glad this works for some, but there are potentially serious side effects."
