For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I just started three weeks ago, so it's too early to report results, but I wanted to post that the whole taste thing did not happen to me. And there are other meds, such as certain antibiotics, that mess up my taste, so it's not like I'm immune or not sensitive to it. I'm sure the people that are posting about it do have this issue, but my advice is to not think about the taste issue."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "This medicine does work. I took it for about a month before I had a really bad reaction, though. I had an itchy hive-looking rash, and it turned into welts all over my body, including my face. My eyes swelled up and were really puffy, too. I wish I could've stayed on the medicine for the 3-month period because it does work. I have a clean toenail growing in, but I had to stop the medicine, so hopefully it stays that way. If you develop a reaction or an allergy to this, it really sucks, but it does work. I recommend not missing a day and always taking it at the same time every day. I took it every day when I woke up, but I got sick and stopped taking it for a couple of days. Coincidentally, when I started taking it again, the reaction happened."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "It took me 1.5 months to work up the courage to take Lamisil because of all the horrendous side effects I read about. I finally took it for 90 days with no horrible side effects. If I took it too close to drinking coffee or eating my beloved chocolate, it made me nauseous. So I took it right before bed. Near the end of the second month, I started itching in various places really bad. I finished treatment wondering why I was so scared. Now just waiting for slow toenails to grow out."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "My comments will be in 2 parts. Part 1) I've had fungus on my big toenails for the last 20+ years and have tried everything. In 2012, my primary doctor prescribed generic Lamisil (Terbinafine), which I took for about a month without issue. At refill time, the pharmacy changed to a different Terbinafine provider and told me not to be surprised by the difference in the appearance of the pills. After a week, I developed a rash on my upper body accompanied by fevers and chills. My doctor ordered me to discontinue the Terbinafine pills, and the symptoms ended. At the time, it wasn't clear if I had simply had an allergic reaction to a new ingredient in the second batch of Terbinafine pills. Regardless, I discontinued the pills, and my fungus never cleared."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I found the pill very effective. Took it every day for 3 months and by the time I had completed the treatment, a new healthy nail had completely grown out. However, within weeks, the fungus returned and the nail became yellow and brittle again. Huge disappointment. At least I didn't have any bad side effects."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I have been taking Lamisil for about 2 months. I have had toenail fungus for about 4 years. The fungus has been very slow-growing, which is why I think that I haven't seen any physical change yet. The fungus is on 4 of my 10 toes. I think that it is spreading to the other ones. I am hoping that I will see some change in the next months. I have heard it takes longer for the worse cases to heal. Oh, and I have had no side effects besides after I take it the first time after a break (I am on pulse dosage), I have a little upset stomach. Nothing too bad though."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I have had a toenail fungus for 10 years on 1 big toenail. I finally decided to try the generic Lamisil after refusing to take it from hearing about possible liver damage. After taking it for 2 weeks, I developed an itchy, red, bumpy rash on my back, chest, and neck. I am now using a prescription steroid cream on my skin for the next 2 weeks to help with this rash! I guess there's no hope in getting rid of this fungus. My dermatologist said to try Vick's Vaporub every day, 2x a day to see if that helps..."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I have been using this medication for roughly 3 weeks now. I haven't lost taste yet, but I won't be surprised if I do. I am experiencing terrible headaches (all day long), loss of appetite, and I am not sleeping (which I have never had a problem with before). Just wondering if anyone else has had these same effects while taking this medication. I am a 33-year-old female, and I got an infected toenail while I was pregnant...10 years ago. I tried every over-the-counter medicine invented...only to waste my money. So, I am going to stick it out. I will write back to let you know how it turned out. Thanks!"

For Tinea Capitis "I've been taking the terbinafine 250 mg tab once daily for just over a month now and haven't had any noticeable side effects. My toenails have cleared up considerably, and I still have 60 more days of treatment. I think if you take this medication as directed, with a full glass of water and do not drink alcohol excessively, you'll probably stand a better chance of complete success. This is the first treatment I have tried since they took the Lamisil cream off the market that has worked."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I have had toenail fungus for about 8 years and managed to get it out of one nail only to have it spread to another. I found it incredibly distressing when it spread to be on three of my nails, so I started the pills. The first week I felt fine, with maybe a little loose stool. By the second week, I’ve had terrible headaches, diarrhea, cramps, fatigue, and depression. I don’t think I can continue with this medication."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I previously took fluconazole for toenail fungus, but it did not work, and it actually spread to my other big toe. Frustrated, I asked my doctor to prescribe me terbinafine. I took it for 3 months, and it appears that my nails are getting better. The side effects are horrible. I had an almost daily headache, felt dizzy at times, nauseous once in a while, and the worst symptom was the accompanying depression that came with the drug. I'm glad the course is over. Don't want to do that again. Here's to hoping the fungus is gone."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I was prescribed Lamisil for 3 months as an oral tablet to treat fingernail and toenail fungus. Topical medications did nothing. The fungus is basically cleared up on my toes, but of the 5 fingernails that had it, only 3 responded. I had blood draws for liver function frequently and had no side effects from the medication. I do not drink alcohol, so my liver was not under much stress. Since not all the fingernails have improved, I'm hoping I can start another 3-month treatment."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "My husband suffered from toenail fungus since I met him for years. One day he was given free samples of Lamisil for a three-month period. He took it and his toenails miraculously cured! From super yellow nails that were impossible to cut to natural healthy nails. He worked in construction, so wearing steel-toe shoes did not help. He got some back but after ten years, due to his job. It was not contagious, though. I worked at Home Depot for a year and wore steel-toe boots for protection and noticed a bit of fungus growing on my big toe! I requested Lamisil and the doctor was reluctant to prescribe it for the possible side effects, all bodies are different, so let's see what happens. I don't believe in topical antifungal."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "Three months ago today, my big toenail was white, and the nail continued to get thick even though I attempted to file it down. The fungus spread to another toenail, and that one turned white too. I’ve been taking Lamisil for 3 months, and my toenails are both almost completely clear again. Just in time for summer. Thank goodness for this med."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I started taking the generic of Lamisil several weeks ago for the awful fungus on all of my toes. I had previously taken this drug years ago with no side effects, however, this time after two weeks I had stomach cramps and everything tasted weird. I continued to take it, minimal symptoms, until I had two pills left. I started having stomach pain again and a terrible backache. I went to the doctor and had blood tested again and kidney and liver tested okay. I was diagnosed with a UTI and told to discontinue the terbinafine. I took an antibiotic (ciprofloxacin) but didn't feel any better. Now taking Amoxicillin, however, my back still aches constantly. I am a 65-year-old female."

For Onychomycosis, Fingernail "Not worth the risk! The fungus is definitely clearing up, but I've lost my taste, so I'm losing weight (the wrong way) because everything I eat or drink is nasty tasting. I get hungry, but eat a few bites, and it tastes like mush. I lose my appetite and stop eating. My skin is itchy, and I have a thick, coated tongue that's sensitive and achy with a constant feeling of something stuck in the back of my throat. Now I read that my taste buds may not ever wake up again! That's going to seriously lower my quality of life! If I'd known these side effects before taking Lamisil, I wouldn't have taken the risk! Using a topical twice a day of tea tree oil, Vick's VapoRub, or FungiNail for the rest of my life would be worth it to have my taste back!"

For Onychomycosis, Fingernail "I've been suffering from onychomycosis on my fingernails for a good 4 years. Sadly, in the first 3 years, we tried alternative medications, creams, etc., which didn't help. Finally, I went to another doctor, and she prescribed me Lamisil after running blood tests. My nails have massively improved since early this year. My fingernail, which was 90% covered in dead tissue, is now only at about 20%, and it actually makes me feel better about myself because it's gotten so much better I don't have to hide my fingers anymore. Before using Lamisil, I've been using Loceryl for about a few months, and even now, whilst using Lamisil, I use Loceryl from time to time. Side effect: loss of appetite in the last few weeks. Food isn't as appealing to me anymore."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "Prescribed Lamisil tablets by Dr. for fungal nail in one big toe. Told I would be tested once a month to ensure my liver is okay and would be on tablets for 6 to 9 months. First month okay, my liver is okay. Nail was getting better. Week 5 I started itching bad 24/7 all over, worst itch of my life. I would wake needing to itch dozens of times a night. I cried so much due to discomfort. I also got a bad rash from my chest down all over. Nothing was easing me. I stopped Lamisil tablets after 3 days of itch and rash. Then 4 days later, I went to Dr. as the itch was still bad. Dr. said I must be allergic to Lamisil. I was told to have a shower daily with Nizoral shampoo to help my rash and itch, but it didn’t help. Got Betnovate cream, told to use sparingly long-term. It helped rash a little. I was given 4 different allergy tablets. The only one that helped was Piriton. It took 9 weeks before my symptoms eased. The Lamisil was covered by my medical card in Ireland. But the Piriton was not. On the first day of Piriton use, it makes me sleepy."

For Tinea Capitis "I have used Lamisil before and was very pleased with the results. After the full course of medication, my toenails looked much better. I had no side effects, and I also have a seizure disorder, it worked great for me. My brother took it for the same reason, and he had no side effects either. It worked for him as well. It was pricey but worth the results."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "The doctor put me on Lamisil back in March. I had to see another doctor about a different problem. He looked at my feet and told me to stop taking Lamisil (a big mistake). He felt that the medication had cleared up my foot problem. He put me on a cream for the foot infection that did not work to improve the infection when he realized that the cream wasn't working. The doctor told me to see a dermatologist, which I did, and he did not help-more creams that did not stop the infection. So now, I'm back on Lamisil, my first time on it was one month, and the foot infection was worse back in March. I do hope that it will clear up the foot infection completely this time. Also, I'm seeing a PA, not an MD."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "I've used Lamisil for 3 months now, and I haven't seen ANY change at all. On the contrary, now I have it in another toenail. I'm very disappointed after taking it for so long and spending so much money. I didn't have side effects, just a few that were not so bad."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "Started Lamisil 3 weeks ago and am now experiencing ringing in my ears, diarrhea, no appetite, and weight loss. Which I really don't mind the weight loss so much;). It's the taste of food also that doesn't appeal to me. My vision has gotten cloudy. However, I've read so many good reviews and bad reviews. I'm hoping that I go through a little discomfort to be able to finally have good-looking feet. Cause in CA, it's all about the teeth, tits, and toes! I'm currently on 250 mg 1X day. I hope that the side effects go away after I finish the prescription. Good liver tests so far. I just want the ringing noise to go away. Also, to note I've been depressed. Don't know if that's a part of the side effects because I am normally a very happy, outgoing kind of gal. I've been stuck in bed for two days now, barely eating anything. I'll let you know what the results are after."

For Onychomycosis, Fingernail "Took for 41 days - stopped because of diarrhea, which I have had for 2 weeks now. Tried taking Imodium, but it doesn’t help. Ate the BRAT diet (banana, rice, apple, toast) for several days - didn’t help. Not worth the side effect, and can’t get a decent answer as to when the diarrhea will stop."

For Onychomycosis, Toenail "Took the medication for 35 days, was onto my second script when I got loss of taste, my mouth tasted like sour milk 24/7. When eating sweet food, I couldn't taste the sweet, and anything sweet made the sour milk taste in my mouth worse. Also, eating dairy gave the same effect. Eating salted food was tasteless. Great diet pill, as everything tastes so foul, including water. Went to the doctor, says stop taking it, and the foul taste could last for several weeks. Return if still no good in six weeks. My toenail was starting to look better, but needed to complete the course. Will have to revert to natural method, tea tree oil. Also got headaches with this medication, although that could be due to lack of water as drinking water tastes sour."
