Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Upon starting on Flomax, urination flow was 100% improved. After 1 month, urine flow somewhat diminished but was still much better than without taking Flomax. I am trying to work through side effects, including a mild headache, lightheadedness, diminished libido/sexual desire, diminished volume in bowel movements, and gas. I am in my 3rd month of Flomax and am not sure the benefits will outweigh the many side effects I am experiencing."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Within a week of beginning the medication, my energy plummeted. I also developed a tooth abscess, which I have come to find out is a possible side effect. As far as benefits, nothing is discernible. After walking down the flight of stairs in my gym, heading for the treadmill, I became so lightheaded and nauseous that I had to go and sit down, which is completely opposite of my normal conditioning."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I was put on tamsulosin after being diagnosed with kidney stones. It worked with getting rid of the kidney stones but left me with horrible side effects after stopping the pill, such as dizziness, muscle weakness, weakness, lightheadedness, chest pain, chest tightness, puffy red irritated eyes, side pain, lower back pain, insomnia, vertigo, abnormal heart rhythm, heart palpitations, sensation of spinning, fast pounding heart, difficult breathing, faintness, muscle and joint pain. I am a 21-year-old female. Yeah, trust me, I can barely walk right now out of fear of fainting. Use this medication with extreme caution!"

Tamsulosin for Urinary Tract Stones "Woke up in pain with a stone Friday. Asked my Dr. to prescribe Flomax and took my first dose at noon on Saturday. Passed the stone this morning (Sun.). I experienced a stuffy nose and felt lightheaded, but it was well worth it. One capsule did the trick."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "First dose gave me increased flow and great relief from that obnoxious 'never quite empty' feeling and frequency, urgency, and dribbling that I had lived with for the past 5 years or so. I just hope I can keep taking it, as I am experiencing side effects, including feeling very lightheaded - similar to being over the legal limit on alcohol! I have also had muscle weakness and a very lethargic feeling. Had some nausea, but I am not sure if that was from the medicine or from my diverticulitis. Interesting that the description says it is intended to relax the muscles of the bladder neck and prostate. I also gained about an inch when flaccid, and 'the boys' seem to be hanging lower, too. Time will tell if I can keep taking this."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "After using Flomax for over a year with excellent results, my insurance stopped paying for brand Flomax, and I was switched to generic tamsulosin. Immediately, I was unable to urinate. I had to double my dosage, causing more side effects: blurred vision, lightheadedness. Now the generic brand was switched again to another maker, and the symptoms are back fully despite my double dosing."

Tamsulosin for Urinary Frequency "After 4 years of taking Trospium, the doctor tried me on Flomax. Not only did it not work, I experienced terrible side effects including racing heart for 3 hours each day, sweating, heavy legs, stomach upset, lightheadedness, and shaking. Also went from not having to get up at all during the night to needing to get up and urinate 2-3 times each night. Now going back on the Trospium."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I had been having difficulty getting started for some months, then, 2 weeks ago, I started getting a burning sensation when urinating. My doctor tested for an infection but found nothing. I have been taking this medication for 1 week. 12 hours after taking the first dose, the effect was amazing: no difficulty, no burning. The first morning, I felt very slightly light-headed, but it passed within a minute or two. No other side effect."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been on tamsulosin since my TURBT. I typically take it at night, so I have not noticed any dizziness or lightheadedness. It has definitely improved the flow of urination and bladder emptying and has not, in any way, gotten in the way of sexual activity. So, I am sold on this drug and will probably stay on it going forward."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Initially, the drug tamsulosin was a godsend for BPD. Relieved my symptoms immediately. But the side effects are numerous: lightheaded, dizzy, tired, and lethargic. Sometimes, I am nauseated in the mornings. Retrograde ejaculation occurs, but not often - it seems I can control that issue. Generally, I feel pretty miserable most days. I also have congestion in my sinuses that also affects my ears. So, I will discuss this with my urologist and try to arrange for a button TURP. I am on no other meds, don't have BP issues - I felt very healthy until this regimen began."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "After years of taking Finasteride and my BPH getting worse lately, my Dr took me off Finasteride and started me on Tamsulosin. It was effective in increasing my urine stream and output, but I experienced bad nasal congestion, lightheadedness, and lowering of my blood pressure. My blood pressure became extremely low, and I was taken off the Tamsulosin. It also interacted with the Warfarin I take. The medicine itself was effective, but the side effects were bad."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "My husband took this every night, 0.4 mg, for about the last two years. He had said different times how lightheaded he felt on this. He got up at 6:00 a.m. on a Tuesday and was making coffee, and I heard a huge thud. I went out in the kitchen, and he was passed out on the floor for about 6 or 7 minutes. With the help of his brother, we got him to a chair. He was very dizzy and wasn't making much sense when he talked. Took him to the hospital, and they did a host of tests, which all came back good. So the conclusion the doctors came to was the tamsulosin lowered his blood pressure. My husband's blood pressure was low to begin with, so this just contributed more to his losing consciousness. So he will never take this stuff again."

Tamsulosin "Although my situation may be unusual, I wanted to share my experience as a 25-year-old female. A few months ago, I had a severe UTI, and the ER doctor recommended that I follow up with a urologist. During my recent cystoscopy, my urologist found urethral and bladder inflammation and prescribed a medication to help with inflammation and 'reset things' (his words). I've been taking it for three nights now, and so far, the only side effects I've experienced are a bit of lightheadedness and a very clogged nose last night. It was so blocked that I thought I was getting sick. Today, my nose has felt dry all day, but at least I can breathe now. I have 25 days left of taking it, so I'll update if any other side effects occur. I take it at night."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "This is a miracle cure for me. My doctor told me to give it a month before I see any effects, but it was after the very first tablet. Two years of struggling to urinate, and bang, the complete opposite after being on them. The only side effects I’ve had were a stuffy nose through the night a few times, a little lightheaded, but I’ll take that for urinating like a kid again. I’m back to my energetic ways, and my wife can’t believe the instant changes. Highly recommend this product. 10/10."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Very difficult to run. Muscles seem to not repair. I run 4 miles and feel like I ran a marathon the next day. Lots of lightheadedness. Skin tender; hurts - feels like the flu. My BPH must be severe because after 2 months I still have to self-cath. Would like to get TURP and get off this med ASAP."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Shortly after taking the first dose, the nerves in my right hand started twitching. Then the twitching moved up my right arm, into the shoulder, and then throughout my whole body. Heavy chills then followed. Total duration: 60 minutes. Then all chills and twitching ceased, and I became light-headed. Waking the next morning, my right hand, arm, and shoulder felt as if I had been swinging a hammer for several hours - this feeling lasted through 10:00 a.m."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Yes, there are side effects. The first couple of doses caused severe nausea (get Zofran from the doctor and take with Flomax for about 5 days), also tiredness and lightheadedness. I found improvement with taking the medication about an hour before bedtime. Symptoms were much more tolerable. I think the only real sexual side effect was reduced erection. If you can't pee, and I couldn't due to taking testosterone, which caused BPH. I took saw palmetto successfully for 3 years, then had to stop for surgery. Saw palmetto did not work once I resumed."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Flomax works great and quickly too, but it sure makes me feel bad. I find myself skipping days and those days I feel much better. When I take it, I feel tired, slow, and light-headed... like I'm in a bit of a fog. I also notice that my vision is very much blurred when I take this drug. It takes hours after waking for my vision to be somewhat clearer. I'm supposed to take it twice a day, but once a day is more than sufficient. There doesn't seem to be a lower dosage in a capsule, so I open them and dump some of it out. It's pretty inexpensive so that's not a problem."
