Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I've posted before about this drug not really working well, with side effects making me question whether to continue. Recently, I was seriously considering that I'd have to have surgery and I'm only 58. But I discovered that eliminating coffee has cleared up almost all my symptoms! The doctor didn't suggest that. I was suffering from pelvic pain, a weak stream, incomplete emptying, inability to start, many nighttime trips, and having to pee in the shower to get relief. I've been on the drug for 90 days now, and the first 60 days were like that. Since stopping coffee and switching to one or two green teas a day instead, most of my condition has cleared up. I remain on the drug, and I've gotten used to the slight fatigue. Ejaculation is almost normal too. I'm also on 5mg of Cialis. I'm so happy I found a solution that I can control. If you haven't considered eliminating coffee, please try it before going any further with a second drug or procedure."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been on Flomax for approximately three years and did not have any real side effects until I realized that every other person was having ejaculation problems, lack of sexual desire, and erectile dysfunction. I personally thought it was the whole prostate brachytherapy procedure that has caused these problems. After brachytherapy for prostate cancer, they generally recommend Flomax. I stayed on Flomax without thinking of the side effects, thinking it was the other meds causing the effects. Anyway, I stopped Flomax 4 days ago and ever since I stopped, I have been feeling the severe side effects of fatigue, flu-like symptoms every day. Has anyone taking Flomax had the same withdrawals that I have experienced in coming off Flomax? Nowhere does it say that there are withdrawal effects when coming off Flomax. I have checked almost every site. All they say is if you stop Flomax, tell your doctor before starting again. I will be searching for anyone’s reply."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I was on Tamsulosin for moderate BPH symptoms for 3 1/2 weeks. The first week was moderate side effects - positional dizziness, stuffy nose, some fatigue after light exercise. Second week saw some improvements. Beginning of the third week I had increasingly severe fatigue and bodily weakness, constipation, stuffed sinuses. It got to the point where I was spending 12-14 hours per day in bed, and was too weak for most activities. I stopped the medication, and recovered fully in about 10 days. Lesson: At the onset of severe side effects, just stop."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Has way too many side effects: dizziness, fatigue, myalgia, and it made me constipated. It really seems like our doctors don’t know anything. I’ve been using natural supplements and I actually have a quality of life that is bearable. Going to China to be cured. Alpha blockers are designed to make you stay on a life treatment with horrible symptoms. No thank you, I’ll stick with my own recipes that I came up with that help more than anything any doctor has given me. All the doctors think I’m crazy, but they’re just programmed that way and very textbook. Think outside the box, people, if your treatments don’t work, it is time to do more research."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "After 1 week of Flomax, urine flow was slightly affected. I have started experiencing dizziness, extreme fatigue, weakness, nausea, diarrhea, headache, chills, body aches, and flu-like symptoms. Goodbye Flomax."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "This is my third comment. Last one I had found that eliminating coffee helped the drug work better. Well, it worked so well that coffee intake crept back in, and now, although it works, the side effects are off the charts: fatigue, no strength, sinus congestion, runny nose, shortness of breath, vision problems. Awful. So I am experimenting, taking it every other day. As soon as the side effects clear up, its effectiveness dwindles. If I can skip two days, I'll have a good night's sleep on the second night and no congestion on the third day. Last I took it was early Friday morning, and it's now Monday at noon. I'm a little nervous going to work, but I'm going to try and make it. If I get really stuck, dunking or spraying my penis with warm water can get things started (like a warm shower can do). I'm taking Cialis 5mg and a natural supplement. I'll have to quit coffee again. I hope to God to wean off this drug and not have to go with a procedure."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I am 52 years old and have been taking this drug for the last 2 years. I have finally come to the conclusion that the side effects of Flomax and what I am feeling are real. Mostly fatigue, body aches and pains, and headaches associated with back pain and sinus aches and pains. My libido is mostly okay, and sex is normal. Thinking seriously of stopping this med and seeing what happens."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Since being on Flomax, my bowels don't function properly. Constipation. Need laxative every 3 days. Stomach aches, cramps, low energy, dizziness. Just generally feel bad. Hardly ever leave home now. It's terrible. Been on it 90 days. Wasn't sick until I started taking this drug. I'll elect surgery early if necessary to get off this drug."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I was diagnosed with chronic urethritis, had issues with weak stream, failure to fully empty bladder, frequent peeing at night. My urologist prescribed me this medicine (tamsulosin). Initially, after a day, those symptoms seemed to relieve, but I notice the side effects of this medicine in my body so terribly, like dizziness, stuffy nose, severe fatigue, bodily weakness, gasping for air when sleeping, tooth sensitivity, and a difficult time falling asleep at night. I consider setting an appointment with my urologist to consult this matter."

Tamsulosin "I am 49 years old and had bladder surgery 5.5 weeks ago. I have been unable to urinate naturally since the surgery. Due to the use of catheters, I am on my second UTI. My doc put me on Flomax to see if it would help me begin urinating on my own. I have taken 3 doses and will not be taking any more. Congestion, fatigue, headache, dizziness, nausea/vomiting. I have never had so many negative experiences with a medication."

Tamsulosin for Urinary Tract Stones "It helped me pass a stone, but the side effects were terrible. I passed out 2-3 times, each time going from a lying to standing position (postural hypotension). Suffered from extreme fatigue, muscle aches, and sexual side effects like failed ejaculation."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "At age 76, was put on this drug some 3 months ago for elevated PSA levels and frequency of urination - particularly at night. It certainly reduced the frequency of nighttime urinations and dropped my PSA levels to the high end of normal. However, the side effects, noting that I still compete at state, national, and international levels in cycling with wins at both state and national levels. The first noted side effect was extreme lethargy first thing in the morning. On the bike, muscle soreness to the point it was affecting performance, finding it difficult to get an average power output above 170 watts. Heart rate would go to about 140-145, and to move it past there took a herculean effort. Would take at least 2-3 days to get over a session such as this. With reference to the doctor, went off them for 2 weeks. Toward the end of that 2-week period, could take HR to 160 and average power output of 214 watts. Would be over that within 36 hours. This drug certainly affects athletic performance."

For Urinary Tract Stones "Terrible drug. Took Tamsulosin CR for 7 days for possible kidney stones. The side effects are beyond belief. Severe dizziness, muscle weakness, flu-like symptoms, joint pain, insomnia, fatigue, and horrific back pain. Not exaggerating! 30 days off, and the effects still persist. Dizziness has improved a little, but back pain, muscle weakness, and stomach upset remain. There are documented cataract surgery complications if you have taken this pill. Can be serious changes to your iris (Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome). I have no idea how long until the effects wear off. Do your research."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I can honestly state that there is no medication that I have taken with as many negative side effects as generic Flomax. Severe dizziness, nasal congestion, my head felt like it was going to explode, the back of my eyes throbbed, similar to when you have a strong head cold, and I also had fatigue. These are just a few of the overwhelming side effects that this drug presented to me. These may occur especially when you stop and start the generic Flomax. I will never take this medication ever again in my entire life."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I took Flomax for 2-3 months for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It made me very fatigued and tired all the time. After the second month, my penis began to curve a little, then, literally overnight, I ended up with a severe curve and Peyronie's disease. I highly suggest leaving this medication alone."

Stops me getting up 3 plus times a night to once a night, but since taking it, I have had nothing but problems with severe lower back pain, dry ejaculations, headaches, and fatigue. Need to see if there may be an alternative."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Was taking tamsulosin to improve urine flow. The drug does improve the flow, and I was getting up fewer times at night. Sadly, the side effects became too much to bear. I had excessive sweating, a completely stuffed-up nose, weakness, a rapid heartbeat for no reason, and general fatigue. The drug also made me breathe heavy and rapidly, and I had a hard time catching my breath. I am going to stop tamsulosin and try afluzosin."

For Urinary Tract Stones "Female aged 59 in Europe. Kidney stone (5 mm) moved to ureter (just outside bladder) 6 weeks ago. Been on tamsulosin (Flomax in the US) for 5 weeks. Stone not moved. Ureteroscopy scheduled for next week. Horrible side effects (fatigue, dizzy, stuffy nose, headache/sinus pain, minor nosebleeds, minor breathlessness) but continue to use in hope it might move before surgery."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I was on this drug for some retention issues, and it seemed to be working. However, on day 6, I started getting a stuffy nose, and on day 7, my nose shut down completely, and I started producing mucus like never before. It was worse than any head cold I can remember. It also ran down into my lungs and caused chest congestion. I also had anxiety, fatigue, and an elevated heart rate. I felt so bad that I got a COVID test (negative) even though I'm vaccinated. I've been off the drug for 3 days, and my sinuses are just clearing up. I still have fatigue, and my lungs are still partly congested. It is going to take a few more days for my body to get rid of all that mucus. This drug is not for me."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I have been suffering with what started as gravel in the toilet. I was naive to think it was coming in from somewhere outside. Lol. I have also had two UTIs in one month and lots of blood in my urine. Antibiotics for both UTIs gave me C. diff, which I managed with probiotics, but man was I sick! Ended up at the ER twice again with lower severe flank pain and nausea. Well, this time they found gravel and blood in my urine. So, diagnosis of kidney stones! Was given Flomax and pain killers. Haven’t even needed the pain killers. Passed some gravel and a small stone after the second dose (12 hours later) with very minimal pain! I still feel like I have more stones to pass though, and I’m on it for 14 days with a renal scan scheduled for the 31st. Thank God I booked the week off work! I highly recommend this product. I’ve had a slight headache and fatigue, but nothing compared to the pain of a stone!"

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I had taken Flomax before when I had prostatitis (bacterial infection of prostate), and it worked well for urine flow and had few side effects, if any, normal course 30 days. But now that I am much older, I am on Flomax daily (0.4 mg) for the last 3 months, and for the last month, I have had a nonstop thudding headache, fatigue, reduced energy, focusing problems with dizziness out of the blue that lasts for a minute or so and goes away. While Flomax has increased my urine flow rate so that I only get up once a night instead of three times, I am going to curb my use of it as the side effects are becoming a problem. The drug works, no doubt about it, but at what cost?"

Since I started taking Flomax, I have experienced fatigue, tiredness, low energy, and basically I feel terrible. Feeling this way has had a negative effect on my vertigo. It has made it worse. My doctor is going to put me on another med. The Flomax was starting to work on my BPH."
