Reviews for Tamsulosin

Marebear January 12, 2020

“I am using this for frequent nighttime trips to urinate, like 3-4 times a night. Sleep was interrupted and poor. Now I am able to get a good night's sleep with only having to get up once a night to void. I did not see GI symptoms listed as possible side effects. But, like Steve67, I too have the heartburn/gastric reflux. Been taking this for about 2 month now. And the med may have caused a wave of intense nausea I had to coach myself out of. Interesting to say the least.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Has made urination easier and less urgent. The only side effect has been retrograde ejaculation. Kind of an odd feeling and no semen in the condom. There is some cloudiness in the urine with the first urination after sexual intercourse. After getting used to the feeling, sex is as pleasurable as it has always been.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “I was prescribe Flomax due to kidney stones. Other than the pain I felt fine, then started taking this drug, long story short I hate it. I took it for about a week , I suppose it might have helped remove the stone but I felt like crap Insomnia ,weakness, coughing, hiccuping constantly. Loss of appetite, foods just didn't appeal at all ,muscle pain, diarrhea, Thurs was my last pain, today is Monday i stopped taking them last Saturday I could not take another one. How anyone can be on these for weeks and months is beyond me”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “I used Flomax for about 2 yrs. I woke up every hour to pee and could not wait, lack of sleep was making me tried and sleepy every morning. I lost the ability to hold back urine and wet my pants twice before quitting. I never saw any improvement with my symptoms %u2013 low flow, hard to start flow, stopped and started each time.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Was give flowmax on Monday to help with frequent trips to bathroom. On Tuesday my tooth started hurting so I went to the Dentist only to be sent home with hope that it will just go away. The pain got worse and so intense that Thursday I went back to the Dentist who said he could see no reason for the pain so sent me to a specialist dentist 100 miles from my house. I had xrays hot and cold treatments and was sent home with more pain pills. I ONLY TOOK TWO FLOMAX PILLS, ONE MONDAY AND ONE TUESDAY . ON THE DRIVE HOME MY PAIN STARTED TO GO AWAY . I CALLED THE DR THAT GAVE ME THE FLOMAX HE SAID STOP CAN CAUSE TOOTH PAIN.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Flow has improved, but I have the equivalent of a permanent head cold. After two months, I have trouble breathing through my nose, and sleep fully. It's not worth it. I will try Avodart, and if that doesn't work, I will have surgery.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “I am 81 years old and diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Started doing radiation and after 2nd week had trouble peeing and emptying bladder. Could not sleep because spent night trying to pee. My Dr put me on flomax and within hours from taking 1st pill I was able to pee and empty my bladder. No side effects at all and able to have sex again which I have not been able to prior. Great medicine thank God”

“Started working within a couple of hours. Reduced going for a pee from approx 3 times in 2 hours to once every 2 hours (and usually up to 4 hours more than once a day) so very successful results. Does not aid sleeping through the night but slight improvement in number of times getting up so far (only using for a week). Greatly reduced semen production is only side effect for me.”

“This drug was prescribed by my Dr. and I took it every night at bedtime for 3 months. I would wake up and feel short of breath almost every night ..quite alarming. In the morning I felt tired and no energy. My sex life was gone it did help some with urinating . After 3 months I had enough and quit taking it. The good news I no longer wake up out of breath and I feel like my old self in the morning and my sex life is back to normal ! This drug is not worth it. I take natural supplements now and I don't see any difference in urinating then I did before - but without the side effects.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “I just started this, and then read reviews here. I'm REALLY concerned. One guy said that he has good luck taking Flo Max every other day. If he reads this, do you get the side effects of sexual dysfunction, like every single other guy has mentioned here? I decided to try this and it seems to be working so far. Has anyone stopped this and had their sexual functioning return to normal? I wonder if this is just an effect of lowered blood pressure. Besides, I cannot afford this stuff. I've done a lot of research on natural alternatives. I'm going to try these, and at least right now am optimistic, as user reviews are very positive.”

“age 74 on flow max/tamsulosin for 8 years. I started .4 mg & later to ,8 mg. I never had a problem while on it. Pee strong stream, no stones yet. Dr. prescribed Finesteride 2 years ago because Flomax alone was not enough to keep stream adequate. No problems. Tamsulosin alone kept me urinating for 8 years. Life is Better when you are peeing normally.”

“I’ve been diagnosed so far with prostatitis/BPH and was prescribed tamsulosin after a 21 day course of antibiotics. I noticed improvement 1st dose and have been taking the low dose once a day for two weeks. I take a lot of other drugs that are listed as interacting but for me I haven’t had any of the complaints others have, and strangely my ejaculations are restored/increased on this drug unlike others. I’m 55 and have libido issues due to antidepressants anyway but it’s actually helped with both bathroom and bedroom... my issue though maybe prostate cancer though I’m still undergoing testing. All I can say for sure is at least give it a try if you have plumbing issues, I did and so far it’s great.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “I have been on Flomax and a catheter for 2 weeks. Had the catheter removed today. Only a few drops come out. Basically retaining all urine. Had to go back on a catheter the same day it was removed. The urologist only does the kind of surgery I want once a month. Looks like I may be on a catheter till March. No pain...just discomfort from catheter. Flomax seems to be causing me problems in the morning. It takes at least an hour or more just to get out of bed. When I rise to sit on the side of the bed my BP is good. But when I stand my BP goes to 9x/6x. I would pass out if I remained standing. I must lay down to regain a decent BP. Flomax plus aspirin are the only drugs I was taking. But I stopped the aspirin 2 days ago. Now only Flomax.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Used flomax for a long time and it worked great for me used to get up 5 times a night, then after using flomax maybe once or twice - then my company raised the price from 75. 00 to 495. 00 for 3 months. Then they said they had a generic for 30. 00 for 3 months. Am on the generic and it does not work.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “I took this for about three weeks for BPH. After nearly passing out the second time after standing up I decided it wasn't worth it. Also had nausea and lethargy. It did help somewhat with urine flow but the side effects caused me to stop.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “I have used Flomax for a year. It has reduced the urgency and improved flow. Initially, it inhibited sex drive, but I got used to it and am back to nearly normal. My doctor has recommended Rapaflo. One improvement may be sleeping better. I now have trouble getting back to sleep after my once per night pee trip.”

“I had severe urination problems at 64to 65 years of age. I couldn't hardly urinate when I wanted where I wanted. It was painful to urinate and could not empty out. I saw a urologist and had a camera stuck up my penis. My prostate is the size of battleship. I have been taking this tamsulosin for nine months and it has made it so I can urinate with out pain. It has been great. Side effects are not so. Retrograde ejaculation takes the fun out of orgasm. Sleepy and listless often. I think I am going to have surgery to ream out the prostate, and have been weighing the issues. You might as well try this stuff on and make your own decision. For now, it sure has helped. Before, I had to get up three or four times a night to pee a little.”

“I get up once or twice a night to pee and have a minorly reduced flow. I'm 50 and otherwise in good health. Recently I was having symptoms of prostatitis and mentioned the peeing and the doc put me on tamsulosin. I have a very active sex life and this wasn't affected - in fact my partner noted a 'wet patch' which didn't happen before. I took tamsulosin for a week and I might have had an increase in flow but it was minor at best. Didn't notice a huge reduction in needing to pee. I took myself off it because I was having dizzy spells, like when your ears are blocked and one equalises differently to the other. A week after stopping, I get occasional recurrence of this. I'm very wary of this drug.”

“I first took Flomax about 5 years ago: took the 0.4 dose pill and had a retrograde ejaculation. Went off the drug because of that. Several years later a doctor in Thailand told me to take half the dose. This year I acquired full medical insurance and began taking Flomax again. Since the minimum dose is 0.4, I break open the capsule and take only half at a time. This has worked wonders, as I feel like urination (and the flow during ejaculation) is back to where it was maybe 10 years ago, and I have absolutely no side effects (despite being very sensitive to medications in general) . I think some of the people who have negative side effects on this drug might benefit by reducing the dosage.”

“66 years old, now on Tamsulosin for about 8 months. Urologist had started me on Alfuzosin originally, which I took for 6 months with no effect. PCP changed me to Tamsulosin and I had improvement right away, stronger urine stream and only getting up twice a night instead of 3 or 4 times. I noticed the effect wears off about 6 hours before the next dose, in terms of the strength of the stream. I do have some nasal stuffiness and diminished ejaculation amount, but no erection or libido problems, so I am fairly well satisfied.”

“I took this drug for 4 months and lost my ability to lift my arms, had trouble waking I lost 90 % of my strength I could not put my coat on with out help, 2 trips to emergency, 2 trips to my GP many tests no results. I stopped this drug and now just starting to feel normal after 5 months. It almost killed me. Lucky a friend in the medical field pointed to the drug.”

“I used to get urine drops, went to the GP in England GP said may be your prostate enlarged even I had it checked by a different doctor and it wasn't but I Was told to take these for a month, I started taking these and after two weeks my right knee started feeling funny and started crackling and after few days it's gone worst every time I move it, it will do click, and ended up in very bad pain tried many exercises because I used to be a sports person but still same. So went back to GP they said its vitamin D, a dr gave me 4000 units tablets but it didn't help even my left knee started same thing intermittently. I stopped Contiflo xl immediately and now my both knees are in extreme pain, I know it's caused by these tablets, I don't where to go because GP in England don't give a damn either they will say its vitamin D or I have serious mental health issues, probably they get some commission from suppliers”
