Reviews for Tamsulosin

Flomax (tamsulosin): “This medication helped with the symptoms from an enlarge prostate. After several years My Dr. had to increase the dosage to .08mg which again relieve the problems. I’ve been on it for over 10 years with very little side effects. It was well worth the relief.”

“I am 72 years old and still sexually active. My doctor determined I had a slightly enlarged prostrate and put me on Tamsulosin; I was also urinating 3-4 times a night which was very annoying. After being on this drug for a week I found I could not longer ejaculate, but it did cut my urinating at night. The other side effects were I felt weak and tired all the time and I had this blurred vision. I decided the side effects were too great to continue to use this drug. After stopping use, my sex life returned and bathroom visits at most once a night. Doctor is putting me on Finasteride; hope that works.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Just started taking this over almost a week. 1st thing I noticed was weak orgasm, little to no semen. Penis is largely flaccid. Flow has improved hope the dribble improves within the next week. Semen and orgasm my be an issue for me though.”

“Been on tamsulosin for years was in denial for years there no mental or physical side effects from this stuff - while it does help as opposed to another urinary surgery this time a TURP. I simple cannot take anymore of these pills and I get distressed, depressed, dizzy and depending what other meds you must take they combine and make it worse; I take them twice a day morning and night - in between dutestaride wow another gem whilst I have had 11 surgeries and am a cancer survivor and though I get benefit from this cocktail med list I am exploring global uroligists to find another - the bra surgery is non invasive and no blood I am seriously researching that. The meds work don't get me wrong but anguish and mental price you pay daily takes a toll on you year after year”

“I have been on tamsulosin since my TURBT. I typically take it night so I have not noticed any dizziness or lightheadedness. It has definitely improved flow of urination and bladder emptying and has not in any way gotten in the way sexual activity. So I am sold on this drug and will probably stay on it going forward.”

“I am 88 and my urinary symptoms (frequency, urgency and burning) were wearing me to a frazzle. Two nurse practitioners, my primary physician and a urologist were unable to diagnosis the cause of my symptoms. The urologist prescribed Tamsulosin which I have been taking about a week. Frequency and urgency have lessen and burning is practically gone. My penis size is considerably larger (I am really big!) and it stays that way all the time. I can get a good erection with direct stimulation, but I have no semen whatsoever. Orgasm is good so, frankly, I don't miss the mess and don't want any more kids!”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Initially, I took the low dosage and flow improved for about a week. Then the condition worsened. My doctor then upped my dosage to two pill per day. Same thing happened initially - flow improved and then reverted back to the prior condition. But as I continued to use the drug (2 times a day) the improved condition returned. Sometimes the flow is better than other times - like when my bladder is more full. Trips to the bathroom at night were reduced to 0 to 1 time. Side effects. Initially, I experienced many side effects - runny noise, minor headache, aches and weakness in my back and shoulder, and retrograde ejaculation. Retrograde ejaculation is the only side effect that seems to persist.”

“Urinating well, but took several months for full effect. Still going twice a night. But flow is good. I would say this is the best thing since sliced bread if it weren't for the sexual side effects. My orgasms before taking Flomax were very intense. Now after four months it is like I even don't want to have sex. There is build up, but no release whatsoever.”

“Only moderately effective however the sexual dysfunction side affects are rampant. This drug has caused erectile dysfunction, ejaculatory dysfunction, and reduced libido and semen volume. In short, it makes having sex difficult and sometimes impossible, and it drastically reduces the pleasure. I cant imagine why mainstream medicine could possibly consider these side effects as acceptable to the average male with a healthy sexual appetite.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Took Flomax for 1 1/2 years for an enlarged prostate. On the positive side, it did help ease the flow of urine, though not significantly on the frequency. However, my blood pressure kept dropping and on my daily walks I noticed I would often feel like I'm going to pass out or faint. This was happening 4 or 5 times per hour, so I asked my doctor if I could withdraw the medication to see if these attacks or syncope would go away. After 3 days I noticed that the symptoms had gone. It's about 1 month now without an attack. So my personal diagnosis, for what it is worth, is that Flomax can reduce blood pressure enough to cause symptoms akin to syncope.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “After a few days Flomax did work and increased my stream. I was unable to orgasm or ejaculate on this drug. If you have no interest in sex it does work. I took lowest dosage. I believe it was .04 MG I stopped taking the drug. Going to Dr. to try another.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Before Flomax for 6 weeks I had experienced urgency to urinate, dribbling, reduced flow. Within one day of starting Flomax, it was like magic - I noticed increased flow, no dribbling, no urgency to urinate, less frequent urination. Also, I noticed that the muscles in my groin area seemed more relaxed. I did notice an undesirable side effect though; dry mouth. I have to speak a lot at work, and a couple of times my mouth dried up and I had difficult speaking.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “About a week ago, my urologist started me on Flomax for urinary problems. I have muscular dystrophy and have to use my muscles maximally to do normal activities of daily living. Several days after starting Flomax I couldn't do many things I need to do every day. Flomax weakens ALL muscles, not just those near the prostate. DO NOT TAKE FLOMAX if you have muscular dystrophy. ”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “I had difficulty urinating due to enlarged prostate. And also had urinary retention. Flomax solved my problem and I now have very strong stream and am easily able to void. Very relieved. The only downside is retrograde ejaculation. No semen comes out at all. But I'm not in any relationship and nor am I trying to get anyone pregnant so it isn't an issue for me”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “I don't know if this medicine would have worked or not because after three days I was so weak and dizzy from low blood pressure that I stopped taking it. Better to get up 1-2 x a night to pee than pass out from walking across the house. If you have low-to-normal blood pressure, watch out. Also tried doxazosin/Cardura before this with similar results.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Been taking Flomax for about 4 years. Works great for me. Still go 4 or 5 times during the day, 0 to 2 at night. It's great to not have pain and difficulty when starting to pee. Thanks to those who took up the cause and found this medicine.”

“I have trouble urinating with weak stream dr said my prostate was normal but put me on Tamsulosin with a slight improvement but still up 3 times a night & find I have to urinate often during the day & I keep fluids to a minimum, & forget about sexual enjoyment no problem with erection but no ejaculation so why bother. So I tried to stop taking & then couldn’t pee at all. I wish my doc. Told me about this”

“For some unknown reason, I suddenly had real difficulties urinating......it could have been a reaction to a shingles vaccine or CBD oil but I thought I would need a trip to the ER. Doctor gave me a ton of tests and a tamsulosin script and after three weeks things were back to normal. The tamsulosin seems to be working although it took a while.. Side effects aren't bad.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Taking a 0.4 mg capsule resulted in side effects that made me want to stop taking Flomax. I now open a capsule and pour out half of the contents, resulting in a 0.2mg dose in the re-sealed capsule and another 0.2mg dose that I put into a tiny piece of dough. I am 62 yrs, had 2 types of radiation treatment for prostate cancer 7 yrs ago; am taking Flomax to counter the feeling of urgency to urinate frequent urinations (due to the bladder not fully emptying during urination). Flomax side effects = headaches, insomnia, stuffy sinus; however I need to stay on Flomax longer (than 1 week) to make a definite conclusion. 7 yrs ago I had no bad side effects but stopped due to price of Flomax.”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Just started Flomax 4 days ago and I can attest for the dizziness after standing or turning too fast, as well as cottonmouth, or in extreme cottonmouth I refer to it as Elmer's glue mouth. At 53 years old, a diabetic and have neuropathy, sex is a distant memory anyway, but I would never share such a private and intimate bond between husband and wife!!”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Helped somewhat with ruination, however sexual ejaculation got crazy and erection was short lived, even with Viagra. Dizziness is a very big problem, especially when golfing. Had a rash this morning just under my pectoral muscles, itching. I have been taking this med about 4-5 weeks. Call in to the Doc now, waiting.....”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “Didn't work for me & bad side effects after cyberknife. No libido and painful or no ejaculation at all. Stopped & was ok. 16 months later developed a UTI BPH & bladder issues.Urgent Urination day & night started coming back about 8 weeks ago and Dr put me on Cialis 5 mg samples daily (insurance would not cover) for BPH & 500 mg of Cypro for UTI was ok then 1 week ago conditions worsened after running out of cialis for just a few days & started remaining Flomax again for 4 -5 days and went down hill really fast. I am now urinating 20 + times if not more.I Cant leave house literally. Can hit in 3 seconds My urine culture just came back negative and on 500 mg of cefuroxime. Started back on Cialis yesterday Brutal waiting for Doc to call”

Flomax (tamsulosin): “I was experiencing severe back pain, in which I was barely able to turn my head to the right or the left. I did an extensive research and found out that the probable cause was my prostate. I consulted with my Doctor who confirmed that it was my prostate. I asked my Doctor to explain the connection between my back and neck pain, but she got irritated. She prescribed Flomax, which has been a nightmare for me. After taking the Flomax I was able to pee more freely, which has been a problem for me. Now I cannot hold my urine for long when I want to pee. Secondly, I do have a dry orgasm. did some research and found out that Flomax will do this. It is irreversible. Based on reviews here, it confirms my fears.”

“Worked extremely well after taking effect within one week. Immediate relief from compulsion to urinate and I had fewer trips to the bathroom during the night. But the best aspect, aside from its medical use, was the vivid dreaming--both pleasant and nightmarish. GREAT!!! The dreams were like watching great movies every night for free. Can't emphasize enough how great these vivid dreams, deep REM, made me feel rested and entertained.”
