Tamsulosin "I was prescribed Flomax several years ago and experienced only ejaculation problems. I'm 82 now, and several of the many side effects have surfaced. 1. Rapid heartbeat as high as 167. 2. Low blood pressure (causing fainting symptoms). It doesn't seem to have affected my libido, but the watery ejaculation is a nuisance. If you read the complete list of side effects, you'll undoubtedly find yourself in there somewhere. Then you can make an informed decision on what's best for you. Me? I'm stopping as of right now!"

Tamsulosin "Been taking Flomax for about 4 years. Works great for me. Still go 4 or 5 times during the day, 0 to 2 at night. It's great to not have pain and difficulty when starting to pee. Thanks to those who took up the cause and found this medicine."

Tamsulosin "Within a week of beginning the medication, my energy plummeted. I also developed a tooth abscess, which I have come to find out is a possible side effect. As far as benefits, nothing is discernible. After walking down the flight of stairs in my gym, heading for the treadmill, I became so lightheaded and nauseous that I had to go and sit down, which is completely opposite of my normal conditioning."

Tamsulosin ".4 mg! You’d figure nah that's nothing. But! After being on it for 4 months, I have never felt so crappy in my life. In March 22, I had COVID. Thought, “well must be having some long COVID stuff happening here.” So I started troubleshooting and talking to groups here in Canada, and I wasn't as “bad” as the others I spoke to. Then I started investigating. Coming here and reading the reviews, I realized that the symptoms started the same time I started Flomax. I stopped taking the med, and within 72 hours, ALL symptoms went away. ALL of them. My energy is back. I can breathe. I can maintain an erection and release an amount of semen that's in line with before. So I figured go natural and stay natural with supplements, and so far (for a mere 72 hours) has been an amazing difference!! Take a med to relieve ONE problem and get 9 or 10 other problems? Nope. Besides, if I need a little extra time to drain my bladder properly, the people waiting can do just that... wait!"

Tamsulosin "Wow! Took Flomax one time, and it greatly improved urine flow and got rid of urgency! The downside was a pounding headache and the complete elimination of ejaculate. It’s a shame... I had high hopes! Doctor recommended discontinuing use immediately, which I already had done. He recommended Saw Palmetto. We’ll see how that goes! Desperate for a solution!"

Tamsulosin "About a week ago, my urologist started me on Flomax for urinary problems. I have muscular dystrophy and have to use my muscles maximally to do normal activities of daily living. Several days after starting Flomax I couldn't do many things I need to do every day. Flomax weakens ALL muscles, not just those near the prostate. DO NOT TAKE FLOMAX if you have muscular dystrophy."

Tamsulosin "I had difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate. And I also had urinary retention. Flomax solved my problem, and I now have a very strong stream and am easily able to void. Very relieved. The only downside is retrograde ejaculation. No semen comes out at all. But I'm not in any relationship, and nor am I trying to get anyone pregnant, so it isn't an issue for me."

Tamsulosin "Took Flomax for 1 1/2 years for an enlarged prostate. On the positive side, it did help ease the flow of urine, though not significantly on the frequency. However, my blood pressure kept dropping and on my daily walks, I noticed I would often feel like I'm going to pass out or faint. This was happening 4 or 5 times per hour, so I asked my doctor if I could withdraw the medication to see if these attacks or syncope would go away. After 3 days, I noticed that the symptoms had gone. It's about 1 month now without an attack. So my personal diagnosis, for what it's worth, is that Flomax can reduce blood pressure enough to cause symptoms akin to syncope."

Tamsulosin "Taking a 0.4 mg capsule resulted in side effects that made me want to stop taking Flomax. I now open a capsule and pour out half of the contents, resulting in a 0.2 mg dose in the re-sealed capsule and another 0.2 mg dose that I put into a tiny piece of dough. I am 62 years old, had 2 types of radiation treatment for prostate cancer 7 years ago; I am taking Flomax to counter the feeling of urgency to urinate frequently (due to the bladder not fully emptying during urination). Flomax side effects include headaches, insomnia, and stuffy sinuses; however, I need to stay on Flomax longer (than 1 week) to make a definite conclusion. 7 years ago, I had no bad side effects but stopped due to the price of Flomax."

Tamsulosin "Started taking it 0.4, but first, retrograde ejaculation. Then, stuffed nose. Then, constipation. Then, flutter of heart. That was two weeks ago. It did change my counts to the bathroom from 6 to twice in one evening."

Tamsulosin "I used Flomax for about 2 years. I woke up every hour to pee and could not wait, lack of sleep was making me tired and sleepy every morning. I lost the ability to hold back urine and wet my pants twice before quitting. I never saw any improvement with my symptoms - low flow, hard to start flow, stopped and started each time."

Tamsulosin "Helped somewhat with urination, however, sexual ejaculation got crazy, and erection was short-lived, even with Viagra. Dizziness is a very big problem, especially when golfing. Had a rash this morning just under my pectoral muscles, itching. I have been taking this med for about 4-5 weeks. Call in to the Doc now, waiting....."

"Been taking tamsulosin for 3 years now. Diagnosed with BPH. Stopped the nighttime bathroom trips, and now I only urinate 2-3 times a day! Seem to have lost the feeling of needing to urinate until my bladder starts screaming I’m full! Then I have to go right then! Experience some side effects like shortness of breath and sensitivity of teeth, along with unstable balance and loss of eyesight! I’m 59 and was still sexually active till I started this medication!"

Tamsulosin "Acute pain in sides of back (kidney pain on both sides). Hurts when I cough! Hurts getting up from a seated position. Looked through reviews but cannot find others suffering from this particular side effect. I have been on Flomax for one week, and while frequent urination and urinary retention symptoms have greatly improved, this side effect is freaking me out! It's like I have been kicked in the kidneys... only started happening after taking Flomax."

Tamsulosin "Must be careful with Flomax side effects and check for interactions with other BP/heart meds. My conditions cleared with the first pill. BPH was induced by another infection and allowed antibiotics to work by restoring the urine flow. I stopped after the second pill. It should be made available at a much lower dose for induced BPH treatment."

Tamsulosin "Flow has improved, but I have the equivalent of a permanent head cold. After two months, I have trouble breathing through my nose, and sleep fully. It's not worth it. I will try Avodart, and if that doesn't work, I will have surgery."

Tamsulosin "I have been on Tamsulosin for about 6 months. I don't have any side effects. I did have retrograde ejaculation for about a week, but all has been well since. I do forget to take the 1 tablet occasionally. Actually forgot this weekend. I don't notice a marked difference with or without the drug, perhaps a slightly weaker stream and a slightly harder time passing urine, but I do wonder if it's actually worth taking? I will discuss this with my urologist. So give it a go if your Dr says so. It does help a bit."

Tamsulosin "After the invasive bladder exam, Wednesday I was prescribed Flomax. I went directly to the pharmacy, though I was offered a cheaper generic, I took Flomax. I took only 3 pills (the low dosage) over 3 days. I did not like it. I was provoked to urinate almost 30 times in 24 hours. It’s a gut punch-squeeze on your innards to get urine out, with forced straining, grimacing. It is hard to describe the discomfort/pain, and it lingers a little after. The genitals are sensitized by this drug. More sensitive than before, not good. Just no. After speaking to nurses and pharmacists (who went back and forth on this), I stopped after 3 doses. I used sleeping pills to sleep through most of the last 3 nights. I couldn’t leave the house until yesterday because I’d have to go. The effects of the drug aren’t out of my system since taking the last dose on Sunday-today is Thursday night."

"I am 88, and my urinary symptoms (frequency, urgency, and burning) were wearing me to a frazzle. Two nurse practitioners, my primary physician, and a urologist were unable to diagnose the cause of my symptoms. The urologist prescribed tamsulosin, which I have been taking for about a week. Frequency and urgency have lessened, and burning is practically gone. My penis size is considerably larger (I am really big!), and it stays that way all the time. I can get a good erection with direct stimulation, but I have no semen whatsoever. Orgasm is good, so, frankly, I don't miss the mess and don't want any more kids!"

"I first took Flomax about 5 years ago, took the 0.4 dose pill and had a retrograde ejaculation. Went off the drug because of that. Several years later, a doctor in Thailand told me to take half the dose. This year I acquired full medical insurance and began taking Flomax again. Since the minimum dose is 0.4, I break open the capsule and take only half at a time. This has worked wonders, as I feel like urination (and the flow during ejaculation) is back to where it was maybe 10 years ago, and I have absolutely no side effects (despite being very sensitive to medications in general). I think some of the people who have negative side effects on this drug might benefit by reducing the dosage."

"I was diagnosed with chronic urethritis, had issues with weak stream, failure to fully empty bladder, frequent peeing at night. My urologist prescribed me this medicine (tamsulosin). Initially, after a day, those symptoms seemed to relieve, but I notice the side effects of this medicine in my body so terribly, like dizziness, stuffy nose, severe fatigue, bodily weakness, gasping for air when sleeping, tooth sensitivity, and a difficult time falling asleep at night. I consider setting an appointment with my urologist to consult this matter."

"Started working within a couple of hours. Reduced going for a pee from approx. 3 times in 2 hours to once every 2 hours (and usually up to 4 hours, more than once a day), so very successful results. Does not aid sleeping through the night, but slight improvement in the number of times getting up so far (only using for a week). Greatly reduced semen production is the only side effect for me."

Tamsulosin "I was prescribed Flomax due to kidney stones. Other than the pain, I felt fine, then started taking this drug. Long story short, I hate it. I took it for about a week. I suppose it might have helped remove the stone, but I felt like crap. Insomnia, weakness, coughing, hiccuping constantly. Loss of appetite, foods just didn't appeal at all, muscle pain, diarrhea. Thursday was my last pain, today is Monday. I stopped taking them last Saturday. I could not take another one. How anyone can be on these for weeks and months is beyond me."

Tamsulosin "Didn't work for me and bad side effects after CyberKnife. No libido and painful or no ejaculation at all. Stopped and was okay. Sixteen months later developed a UTI, BPH, and bladder issues. Urgent urination day and night started coming back about eight weeks ago, and the doctor put me on Cialis 5 mg samples daily (insurance would not cover) for BPH and 500 mg of Cypro for UTI. Was okay, then one week ago conditions worsened after running out of Cialis for just a few days and started remaining on Flomax again for four to five days and went downhill really fast. I am now urinating 20+ times, if not more. I can't leave the house, literally. Can hit in three seconds. My urine culture just came back negative, and I'm on 500 mg of cefuroxime. Started back on Cialis yesterday. Brutal, waiting for the doctor to call."

"Tamsulosin very quickly improved the flow of urine, and meant my night wasn't constantly interrupted. Great! But it has reduced libido and intensity of sexual pleasure. Above all, it has left me feeling very tired - even though I take it in the early evening."
