Tacrolimus topical for Atopic Dermatitis "I have AD on my eyelids and under the eyes and around my mouth. My dermatologist prescribed me this medication today, and I put it on 2 hours ago. After those two hours, the areas where I put on Protopic felt like they were on fire. I hopped into the shower to wash my face, and to my surprise, the burning didn't subside. As I am typing this, I'm sitting in front of my fan and patting my face with a wet washcloth when it feels like it's burning. I can't describe the amount of pain I feel at the moment, but I will stick with the cream because it is my only option at the moment. I'll check back if the burning subsides."

For Atopic Dermatitis "On day number 5 now of using 0.1% strength, and I am amazed! I have been suffering with severe facial atopic eczema for over 10 years now, and I am only 22. Having tried various light treatment courses, steroid tablets, creams, and ointments, and 'heavy' medicines such as Cyclosporin, Azathioprine, and other immune suppressants to no avail, my dermatologist suggested Protopic. It burned like hell for a good 2 days straight, and I didn't really sleep at all due to the pain, but I was told that could happen and so persevered. Now, after only 5 days, my face is starting to clear up. The skin feels healthier, and the burning is almost gone. My advice is to stick with it as it is the only thing that has worked for me!"

"My dermatologist prescribed Protopic for my vaginal lichen sclerosus. The first application resulted in severe itching and burning. The next day was pretty painful. It felt like my skin was burning and raw, and I was panicking! I called my dermatologist, and she said it happens often to feel a hot burning sensation when using the medication, and eventually, it dissipates. After a couple of days, the burning sensation disappeared slowly. I have been using the ointment since as needed for over 10 years, reducing how often I would apply it until my condition was under control. Today, I still use the ointment from time to time when I feel that I get a flare-up (probably once or twice a month). This medication saved my life! I am forever grateful to the dermatologist that recommended it! After trying many different treatments, this is the only medication that worked and treated my condition successfully!"

For Atopic Dermatitis "I have atopic blepharo-dermatitis and eczema. I used Protopic 0.1% cream for my eyelids swelling and redness. I first experienced dryness after a year of intermittent use. I only spent less than 30g in 1.5 years with Protopic. Yesterday I experienced tightness 5 on the scale from 0 to 10, and also pain. I took 500mg Tylenol, but the tightness remained the next day. I get temporary relief with warm water massage, but only for 10 minutes. I got a panic attack as the result."
