For Bacterial Vaginosis "I was lucky and got this for free as a sample from my Dr. So even if it didn't work, I wasn't out money. I took this early, 6 a.m. on a Friday (I also chose this day because I knew I wouldn't be having drinks in the evening). Mixed it in with some yogurt (put the yogurt in a bigger bowl to make sure I had room to really stir it all up). The taste was honestly not that bad. I just made sure to swallow the whole spoonful, and I had it gone in less than 10 minutes. Felt fine all day and noticed results later in the day. I believe I had a mild form of BV, but I could definitely tell a difference. Felt fine the entire day and also the next day. I did have two glasses of wine the following day in the evening (approximately 36 hours after taking the medication), and I did not experience any vomiting like previous reviewers had. It is now Monday, and all of my BV symptoms are gone, and I am finally comfortable again. Fingers crossed it works long-term and BV does not return."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I have chronic BV/yeast infections, and this is the only drug that works. Within the first 6 hours, I already can tell a difference in discharge/itchiness/smell, and within 24 hours, I have total relief. HOWEVER, I MUST warn anyone who is going to take this drug: DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL. The packaging says it's OK, but it is a horrible experience. I drank a glass of wine 6 hours after taking the medication, and I was violently ill - vomiting and nauseous for 10 hours. I was vomiting up chemicals and bile - it is NOT worth it."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I took the medicine 9/27/19. Whoever said that this medication doesn't change the taste of food needs to be fired. Well, I guess in a sense it doesn't. But the granules themselves taste horrific. Once I got past the initial urge to chew, swallowing about 6 tablespoons of yogurt, I made it through. I waited patiently for the nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, etc. Fortunately, I haven't experienced any of that as of yet. It's been 24 hours, and I already feel better. I will say that I didn't do what everyone else did and drink alcohol. Regardless of what the packet says, you should know better than to drink alcohol with an antibiotic. That being said, I'd much rather stomach this one-time nasty stuff than to take a pill twice a day for seven days."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I have heavily researched BV, which I have been plagued with for about 7 years now. No explanation from docs. Prescribed this, and the co-pay for Solosec was $100. But I was desperate. Mixed with a cup of applesauce, texture/taste was tolerable, took at 3 pm, by 6:30 pm the same night had a headache, also had 1.5 glasses of wine since trial studies showed no contraindication. By 9:30 pm I was nauseous. Then, 10:30 pm, puked. I felt fine afterward, was able to sleep all night and woke up fine. My symptoms have gone. I will update this review in a few months. I am hoping Solosec will cure my recurrent BV infections for good. Sick of living like this. Apparently, it is supposed to cure most drug-resistant BV cases. We’ll see. I can deal with a headache and puking for one night vs. having to take a 7-10 day antibiotic, get a yeast infection, can’t have a drink, all for BV to come back. Benefits outweigh risks in my opinion."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "As a diabetic, I get yeast infections often, however, this one was different. I didn't itch or get the whole cottage cheese combo, but it was more like a bladder leak. I had been off my diabetic meds during a time when I was laid off without insurance. So, when I started the medication again, it hit my privates: UTI, yeast infections, and finally the BV. You have not been embarrassed until your 3-year-old nephew asks, 'What's that smell?' So I made the appointment with my doctor, and she tells me about this wonder drug, Solosec. I dumped it in chocolate pudding, gave it a whirl with my spoon, and 3 bites later it was gone. Now, there was some deep breathing and prayers being sent up during each bite, but I made it. That was yesterday at 8:30 pm. And as of right now, no headache, nausea, or vomiting. My privates are not sweating today, and my inner thighs are not chafed. So, yes, I would take this medication again."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I took Solosec around 3 pm yesterday, and 24 hours later I have already seen a major improvement. I feel like people are being a little dramatic about the taste, I mixed it with a yogurt parfait from McDonald's, and I did not taste a thing. However, even though it says it’s okay to drink while on this medicine, I strongly do not recommend it. I drank around noon, it is currently 6 pm, and I have thrown up around 3 times today, plus I still feel incredibly nauseated. I’m able to eat, but it is not helping to reduce the nausea. But overall, had I not had anything to drink, this would have been a very positive experience."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Happy it was only one dose. I didn’t have any problem with taste even though it was a little bitter. I mixed it with yogurt as the doctor suggested. Took it at 4:30 pm, then drank a lot of water. By 8 pm, I had a light dinner, no problem. The next day, I had breakfast, all okay, then for lunch, I decided to have a light drink, Aperol spritz, and my husband had a refreshing drink with vodka. I had two sips, it was good. After 30 minutes, I felt like my brain was foggy. After 40 minutes, I started vomiting for 2 minutes, then I slept for 2 hours. I woke up and felt good and had dinner. Drinking alcohol with this medicine is a no-no, but they said in the instructions it's okay to have alcohol, which they are wrong."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "My lady part issues began when I was prescribed Levaquin (an awful antibiotic drug) before a surgery. That kicked off the nightmare journey I’ve been on for a year with nonstop yeast infections and BV. Solosec was prescribed to me since the cycle between getting rid of the BV would promote yeast and a never-ending cycle, and my body is becoming resistant to the antibiotics. I’m 24 hours into taking the Solosec prescription, and what others are saying is true. It tastes terrible, and you have these medication grains in your mouth that are bitter. It was a Friday, and I decided to have a cocktail, and since the instructions say it doesn’t cause issues with alcohol, I figured I was fine. Wrong. I spent hours throwing up (and it was one cocktail) and the entire next day in bed recovering from dehydration and the aftereffects of being so sick that the deepest bile and chemicals were coming out. I will NOT take this drug again."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Very bitter taste to it, took it with yogurt and had to swallow it down. Woke up with a metallic taste in my mouth. Made everything taste off, had a headache each day for 4 days, bloated, and nauseated. On day 3, I had 2 Coronas and we BBQ'd some hamburgers for dinner. 2 hours later, I was projectile vomiting my dinner. I felt better once I had vomited, but I was down the rest of the night. I thought maybe it was bad beef, but no one in my family got sick. I felt pregnant (which I'm not) or flu-like symptoms. I would not take this again as there are other Rx out there that can help with BV. Yes, the BV is gone, but feeling sick for 4-5 days was too much for me."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I took this at 11 am this morning to help cure my BV. It said there are no alcohol restrictions, however, here I am at 3:49 am and have been puking since 11 pm. I had 2 glasses of wine and, had the drug warned against it, would not have done so. I’m literally so sick I’ll have to call into work. Solosec is not worth the $75 I just paid out of pocket for. There are multiple reviews on here stating the same. I’m fuming!!!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "The taste of secnidazole is absolutely disgusting. I was gagging and dry heaving between bites, but I managed to keep it down. After a day or two, my BV was totally gone. It came back 2 months later, so I am giving it another try. This time, I’ll be doing boric acid suppositories and taking probiotics made for vaginal health. I’m hoping it works as well the second time!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "So my Dr. recommended I mix it with a drinkable yogurt, and it was fine. I added some honey to it just in case, but it went down effortlessly. I tasted nothing nasty, and all 4 ounces went down without a single gag. I've used this for my recurring BV, and it's the only thing that cures it. I usually need a Diflucan a few days later, so my ob/gyn just prescribes them both: Solosec, then 3 days later a Diflucan. A week after the Solosec, I'm back to normal. No odor or discharge to be found. And I'm a drinker who drank the day of taking it, immediately before and about 2 hours after. No nausea or vomiting, and it still cured my BV. After 2 years of back-and-forth treatments, it was a blessing to find something that actually ended the issue. Now I use 1 applicator of Metrogel weekly, and it's been 5 months of no BV. I'm trying for a baby, so it's important to be able to have sex and not deal with the odor afterwards."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I used this medicine last week, and the taste is horrible. The whole time taking this medication with yogurt, I was gagging!! But I was desperate to get rid of this recurring BV, so I finished it. Omg, it was the worst experience I had. I never had any allergic reaction towards any medication, but this was horrifying. I vomited all night for 6 hours with no stop until I was ready to go to the emergency room. It didn't work for me because I started throwing it up 5 hours after taking the medication."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "False advertising, you cannot drink on this without puking! I drink a little daily, so I asked my doctor about a medicine that would not interact with alcohol, and she said this was it. Yet after one single screwdriver, four hours later, I vomited violently... plus the granules were absolutely disgusting, even with cherry applesauce. Plus, it’s so expensive, and I am not even sure if I ingested all the medicine since I vomited four hours later! Argh!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Do NOT drink with this medicine. They need to stop marketing that it is acceptable. I took the medicine around 6:30. Had a few drinks around 8:30-10:30. Was then up from 12 to 5 a.m., projectile vomiting and using the restroom at the same time. Worst night of my life. Imagine throwing up tiny granules that get stuck in your throat/nose! Trust me. It’s not worth it. I haven’t tried the medicine before without drinking, so I cannot comment on its effectiveness or side effects. Just trust me, please, do not drink!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "So I took my Solosec packet last night around 10 o'clock in some applesauce, it honestly looked like so many little beads, so I mixed in another applesauce (big mistake). The taste was disgusting, but I sat there and chugged water after every spoonful. I felt okay. Nobody told me not to drink, I guess, because I’m only 19, but I decided to have ONE mixed drink, those usually don’t get me anywhere, but listen, I was heavily buzzed. So I go to lay down, say about 12 a.m. I wake up at 2 a.m. with immense stomach pains and start vomiting in the closest trash can for a good 20 minutes. Now definitely all the alcohol and everything is out of my system, I go back to bed. Nope, I wake up at 3:30 a.m. and do it all over, and then again at 5 a.m. Now there is absolutely nothing in my system, not even the water I tried to sip on at 3. I’m scared to eat or drink anything until this is out of my system. I DO NOT RECOMMEND."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I have struggled with recurring BV for the last 5 or more years. I've used every medication under the sun and was excited about a new one-day treatment. Insurance didn't cover it, so I spent $200 and had to wait 3 days for the pharmacy to get it in stock. I mixed it with vanilla yogurt, and the taste was pretty intolerable, but I got it down quick and hoped for the best. The next day I had two beers and vomited. I had headaches, extreme nausea, dizziness, and hot flashes for the entire three days following. I don't tolerate oral metronidazole well either, so I would have dealt with the side effects if it had actually worked 100%. I'm on day four since taking it now, and the BV has improved, but I can tell it isn't gone completely. Rather than waiting for it to come back with a vengeance, I had to start with the gel, which I don't like, but at least it works. I wouldn't take this medication again because of the high cost, lack of availability, taste, and I suffered for days and still got stuck with the gel."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "This was an absolute nightmare. It says you can drink with it, so after 12 hours, I had one drink and threw up for 30 hours straight. Could not eat at all, had to take off work, and wasn’t keeping any fluid, so I had to get an emergency IV. I missed my flight and hotel I paid for that was for the day after. It feels like pure poison. They only give everyone that $25 card because it costs 60 cents to make, and we’re all human guinea pigs for this company. Absolutely despicable. Do not take this!! It will screw you up for a whole weekend. Also, keep in mind that the people rating this above a 4, even said they just took it and will see what happens!! Didn’t even get the bad end of the stick because my symptoms started 12 hours after."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "OMG, I took this medication at 2 pm with yogurt, read up on whether I’d be able to drink on it, and what I read said there were no issues with drinking alcohol. So, later that evening, at around 6 pm, I had some champagne and a sandwich... about 4 drinks total. I went to bed at 10 pm, and by 12 am, I woke up with a strong desire to throw up-tried to breathe it away and no success, so I had to run to the bathroom because it went from a maybe I’m going to throw up... to a, I’m going to throw up right now! After vomiting, I thought all was over-BOY, was I wrong! I continued to vomit about every 30 mins to every hour until 4 am!!!! It was a nightmare! I continued to vomit even when I had nothing left inside of me-just dry heaving, it was so awful! I hate this medication-not sure if it worked as I just took it two days ago... but I’ve been feeling weak (like when you get the flu) since then-and I’m very physically active and healthy."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "The taste wasn't great, but definitely manageable. I don't know why it's marketed that one can drink while taking it, because my experience and other reviews (which I should have read ahead of time) say otherwise. Took it on Christmas Eve, had a few glasses of wine and spent the entire night and next day vomiting profusely. After about 2 days, the nausea went away. However, about a week later, I'm now feeling some itching and discomfort down there. Apparently, another possible side effect is a yeast infection, but I'm praying the vaginal infection gods will take pity on me and spare me..."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Okay, so I’ve taken this twice. I work in OB/GYN, and this medication is a great alternative for many people. The first time, I don’t remember any side effects. Yes, horrible taste. I’ve mixed it with applesauce both times, and you definitely want to shove it in and swallow ASAP until it’s gone. I had one patient who opened the packet too quickly, and the granules spilled all over, so be careful! The second time I took this... yikes. I took it on a Thursday night. Friday night I had a work event where I consumed two White Claw drinks and a shot of Fireball over a 3-hour time span. I ended up the rest of the night vomiting about 5 times in a 3-4 hour span. Nothing else was wrong with me, which is why I’m positive it has to be the medication. I was finally okay the next morning. This medication is not supposed to interact with alcohol like metronidazole does, but I don’t necessarily believe that after my experience, so just be careful!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I just took this packet about 20 minutes ago, and I will say the taste is NOT pleasant! I took it with applesauce but HIGHLY recommend chocolate pudding to best mask the taste. As soon as I finished my bowl of applesauce, I felt nauseous and had a headache. 10 mins later, it's all gone, it really is a mind-over-matter type of situation. Also, DO NOT DRINK!! I am 99% sure you will vomit. I read all the reviews, and everyone who drank (even a little) threw up for hours. Yes, it says you can drink, but why even risk it since you're on an antibiotic??? ALSOOOOO, this drug is EXPENSIVE, like $350 expensive, my insurance brought it down to $113. Thennnnnn I found a coupon on the Solosec website that brought it down to $45!! I wish you all the luck with these meds. Also praying I don't get sick, cause vomit is NOT my thing!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Around 2 pm, I sprinkled this on top of some jello, wrong call! But then I mixed in some yogurt and was good. I know that normally you’re not supposed to drink while taking antibiotics, but there was no warning against this, and since I’d never had medicine like this, I thought maybe it was a new thing. Went out for daiquiris around 4 pm. Came home, slept off that daiquiri, and then around 11 pm started feeling very nauseous. Then began vomiting everywhere. After my stomach was empty, it started out the other end. It’s now 10 am the next day, and the smell of food is making me semi-nauseous. But I’m taking very small bites of toast, hoping that will absorb any leftover alcohol and calm my stomach."
