For Bowel Preparation "I wanted to prove to myself that I could take it, so I just gulped the stuff down as quickly as possible. Tastes like salty sour lemon candy and a little like bitter lemon. Now I have to wait 5 years to have this much fun again. Not a pleasant experience, but I can tolerate it every 5 years."

For Bowel Preparation "Got this MoviPrep with no instructions from the hospital. Great... What a good start. Took the first liquid between 8-9 pm and for me, it was a bit of a struggle to drink that much (unless it's wine!) About an hour later, I was on the loo continuously, so it was working, but by 12, I was still running to the loo..... No sleep because of a bit of a painful tummy and gurgling.... The worst part is the ring sting.... Ring of fire is an understatement as I think my behind is a volcano now. Took my second lot and am now waiting. Use Vaseline as it does help relieve the burning inferno that is now my backside."

For Bowel Preparation "Very difficult to get down. Could not finish all of the second dose, left about 2 ounces. It worked very quickly. Just some hints that might help you. Drink it very cold. If hard to sip, just gulp it down. Suck on hard candy in between each glass. Use moistened wipes to alleviate burning rectum, also used Preparation H. Glad it's all over, and I hope everyone's results will be as good as mine. Can't wait 3 years for the next one. Hopefully, by then they will have something more palatable."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my first colonoscopy prep. MoviPrep tastes like a salty, lemon-flavored drink. I chilled mine beforehand, and I think that made it go down easier. My doctor's orders were to follow a clear fluids diet in the morning and then start a liter of MoviPrep at 5 pm and at 10 pm. It started to work before I finished the last of the first one. After about an hour and a half on and off the pot, it all settled, and I rested until the next dose at 10 pm. I did some research and decided to follow a soft diet the day before I started MoviPrep, so maybe that helped the whole process. It really wasn't that bad."

For Bowel Preparation "MoviPrep was absolutely vile! However, I was able to get the liter and a half down without throwing up. Try putting fruit juice, such as orange, and put it in the fridge once made up. MoviPrep was not as bad as I thought. I began going to the toilet after 45 minutes of drinking this. I had no pain at all and used wipes and Vaseline to avoid getting sore. Although the drink was the worst thing I have ever tasted, it isn’t as bad as everyone says for the overall experience. This is my first time using MoviPrep, and I was able to keep most of it down and did not feel unwell throughout this process."

For Bowel Preparation "I'm 18 years old and having a colonoscopy. I have trouble drinking things that taste gross, and salt water, even in the ocean, makes me gag. Weeks of being terrified and hearing all the horror stories associated with this bowel prep, I finally got to the day before my appointment. I purchased the MoviPrep and poured the first packet into a 1L bottle and mixed in 4 Crystal Light lemon-lime packets and shook it all up and put it in the fridge. When the time came to drink it, it went down easy, unlike many of the other people I have read, and it just tasted overly sweet. It did have a slight aftertaste of salt, so keep a glass of 7UP beside you to wash it away."

For Bowel Preparation "I have no idea where some folk get their MoviPrep from, but I'm in the UK and got it free through the NHS to use in preparation for an endoscopy to check my bowels. First off, the taste was fine - just like a powdered lemon juice - absolutely no problems drinking it - in fact, I enjoyed watching TV whilst sipping it! It took about 1.5 hours before I had my first toilet visit, but at no time was I concerned that I might lose control. My stools became watery after the second visit and continued that way for about 10 or more visits. To my surprise, I went to bed about 2 hours after my last drink, I didn't have to get up in the night. In the morning, slight watery movement and then went to the hospital. The surgeon said that my bowel was clear."

For Bowel Preparation "I had really freaked myself out reading other people's experiences. I retch with bad smells, never mind bad tastes. I have taken the orange-flavored one about 1 hour ago, a lot of gurgling going on as I type. I decided to mix in a big dose of sugar-free, double concentrate, orange squash, and it made the MoviPrep taste okay, slight aftertaste, but a quick chew of sugar-free gum and that's gone. The only issue I have and will have again in 4 hours is the volume, it's a lot to drink. But definitely not too bad with a big dose of squash."

For Bowel Preparation "After 2 days on a low-fiber diet, on the 3rd day I mixed this with a small amount of orange squash in the afternoon and kept it in the fridge to chill. I began to drink it at 5 pm through a straw, the taste is okay. Around 7:20 pm, after drinking water, it began to work and boy, what a result. It felt like a flush of water coming out the other end. This lasted until 10:30 pm and I went to bed at 11 pm, no problems, slept all night. I had the colonoscopy with gas and air, at times it did hurt, but keep puffing the gas and air and in no time it was over. Bowel normal, thankfully. You will not be allowed to eat after 9 am the day before the morning procedure, but drink Lucozade, it fills you up so you don't feel hungry. MoviPrep fills you up too, it was quite a struggle to keep drinking it all."

For Bowel Preparation "My appointment was at 9:00 this morning. I took 1 dose of MoviPrep at 5:00 last night and, thereafter, 1.5 liters of water over the course of the evening. The taste is not great, but I divided the solution into 3 glasses and committed to finish each glass in one session. To my surprise, I finished all of it in 10 minutes. It took about 1 hour to get things moving, and after 4 hours, it stopped taking effect. The next dose was taken at 5:00 on the day of the appointment (today). Same level of commitment saw it consumed rapidly, and it seemed to take effect almost immediately. Two hours later, my bowel was emitting a clear yellow, odorless liquid, and within 3 hours, I had dried up. The consultant commented on how clean my bowel was!!"

For Bowel Preparation "Totally a breeze, started at 4 with the first liter of fluid, finished the second liter at 6:30. Added Crystal Light to the mix, and the taste wasn't all that bad. Discharge very watery and clear after the first bottle, but did the second anyway to be sure. Also drank Gatorade and chicken soup broth when finished with each bottle. Started the day with a liquid diet, black coffee, and a chicken in a pot to make the broth. The whole experience was much less than all the bad reviews report."

For Bowel Preparation "The first taste of the orange MoviPrep hit my lips at 4 pm sharp, finished the liter in approx 50 mins... 10 mins later... 'action stations'! Exactly 1 hour to start doing its thing. A few slight cramps, but all in all pretty good. Not looking forward to the next session, though... I feel empty already. Wondering if I really need the second dose. Anyhow, best to be safe, as I really don't want to do this again for another 5 years minimum! 1 liter of salty-sweet-thick-watery stuff. I can do this, especially if washing down with a nice cold beer (or 4). Got to be happy with that."

For Bowel Preparation "can I just say, these horror stories got me so worked up I was dreading this prep, the reality is it's NOT THAT BAD!!! Ok, so the drink isn't great, like a salty lemonade (I find the cranberry powder things disgusting too, but if I've got a water infection, I drink it!). I found the 1st liter easier to drink than the 2nd. With the 1st one, I used a whiskey-sized tumbler and drank it through a straw at room temperature. I drank it all within half an hour, and it started working within the hour. The 2nd liter took longer, I used a bigger glass and filled it with ice. I found it harder to drink cold, and the larger glass never seemed to empty, so you feel like you're going forever! Don't be put off by the scary stories!"

For Bowel Preparation "It doesn’t have a nice taste - the first couple of glasses, it’s okay, then it becomes disgusting. I’m not sure exactly what it is that makes it so, but I found it tolerable if I quickly sipped some Lucozade after chugging a couple of mouthfuls. After the first dose, I felt bloated with water, some mild cramping, and a tummy ache. Started the first dose at 5 pm and finished by 7 pm. So I had an hour's rest in between and drank some apple juice. Lots of bubbles in my tummy. Started the second dose at 8 pm, started pooping at 08:41 pm. It’s so gross, water coming out your butthole is just not right, but needs must. It’s now 23:35, and a bowel movement still occurs now and then. I was really worried about this prep, but all in all, it’s not too bad at all. Is it pleasant? No. But I don’t feel sick, cramps were mild and short, and the bowel movements are not explosive. It’s been gentle on my system. I put Vaseline outside and inside my posterior, and I’m not sore. Good luck!"

For Bowel Preparation "Well... I am a very anxious person who can’t deal with anything without going into panic mode, but in all honesty, apart from it being unpleasant and spending five hours on the toilet, it wasn’t that bad! I don’t think it tasted that bad either, not something I’d buy for a regular drink, ha ha, but overall, I didn’t find drinking it difficult. Bowel movements didn’t start till about 2 hours after drinking it, but when they did start, it wasn’t the explosive experience I thought it would have been. And apart from causing me to get piles, I didn’t feel unwell or get bad cramps or anything. I did a lot of worrying for nothing. Now for the colonoscopy!"

For Bowel Preparation "I had a colonoscopy yesterday and was so afraid. I was very anxious over taking MoviPrep as I had read all the horror stories. It was nowhere near as bad as expected. Sure, the taste is vile, but I used a straw, drank it chilled, and paced myself and followed each mouthful with apple juice. The bowel prep was effective, and despite horror stories, I found that the loose stools were urgent and frequent but not uncontrollable. I stayed near the bathroom and read a lot or watched TV. Colonoscopy and prep, although not pleasant, not quite the ordeal I expected."

For Bowel Preparation "Procedure scheduled for 6:30 a.m. Clear liquids only for prior 36 hours, nothing by mouth except for bowel prep after midnight. Started at 6 p.m. as prescribed and took the first half of the prep at 15-minute intervals over one hour. The taste is vile, sweet-salty with a chemical feel, and the consistency thick, almost like vegetable oil. I was able to take it fairly easily, followed by water as prescribed. Four hours later, the bowel motions began. Second round began at midnight, had to gag it down but was able to finish the dose. Results good, clear pale yellow at the end. Severe hunger, headache, and malaise throughout. 12 hours after the procedure, still have rumbling bowels."

For Bowel Preparation "Maybe TMI, but sitting on the can writing this. Mixed up the powders as directed, added about half a packet of Emergen-C powder, guzzled 8 fl oz every 15 minutes as directed. I don't know if I had a newer formulation or something, but I had no problems with the taste - tasted like Gatorade or some electrolyte drink to me. Started working within 40 mins. And so here I sit..."

For Bowel Preparation "So I've taken MoviPrep Orange, and at first it's not too bad, sort of a salty orange flavor. But then you start to notice the thick, gloopy texture and honestly couldn't stop gagging, absolutely foul taste. Took my first liter at 4 pm, and at 5:30 pm, the movements started. Attempted to take the second liter at 8:30 pm but only managed to get half down. Currently 11:55 pm and still making trips to the bathroom every 15-20 minutes... I'm only a tiny 18-year-old girl. Feel so bad. Definitely don't need the full 2-liter dose, but we'll see tomorrow. This is my third bowel prep, and I will not be doing it again."

For Bowel Preparation "Pros: Cleans out colon well without pain, cramping. Cons: Cost, taste. Best colonoscopy prep I've ever taken. The taste isn't great, but then what prep is? Follow the tips others have posted, and drinking the MoviPrep will be easier. I'd use this again."

For Bowel Preparation "Medicine is disgusting, though it definitely works. Be prepared to stay at home very close to the toilet. It worked for me within 40 minutes. Have sudocrem to hand, as your derrière will get sore and very red and tender. Good luck if you need to take this medication. My sympathy is with you. God bless."

For Bowel Preparation "I took this medication, MoviPrep, the day before my colonoscopy. I dreaded taking the solution, but it is really not that bad, or it was not for me. The prepared liquid tasted a lot like Alka-Seltzer Cold Plus lemon to me. I did not have a hard time with the taste of MoviPrep at all. I felt really bloated after that first bottle, but that subsided quick. I went to the bathroom fast, and I went a lot. In fact, I am still going, but the bloat seems to have gone away. This is my first colonoscopy, and of course I am nervous about it. I think it is good I am going, 'cause it is very important to be screened."

For Bowel Preparation "Prep for colonoscopy: 1st attempt was in May 2014 and was an epic fail, volume of liquid was too much, gave me horrible heartburn, threw up 75% of the stuff. However, what did get through worked, but 25% not nearly enough for a complete cleaning. Attempt 2. Dr. switched to a 2-day prep using MoviPrep. MoviPrep, to me, has a horrible taste. Thankfully, the volume is a bit less. I just completed my first 32 oz. (first 16 oz. completed in 20 mins, 2nd 16 oz., 90 mins...ugh). Next dose 6 p.m. Use a Lipton tea bag in prep and it helps to cut the bad taste. Heating pad on abdomen helps too. No movement yet 3.5 hrs in."

For Bowel Preparation "I'm 29, and this is my second time in less than two months having to take MoviPrep. They couldn't complete the colonoscopy the first time around. Everyone has different side effects, but for me, it makes me so sick. I have to get a colonoscopy every two years, and this terrifies me. I'm very petite, and my stomach just doesn't hold out to 2L of it. I took the first batch at 5 pm, and it took me 2 hours. The second batch is not so easy. I started at 9 pm, and it's now 10:30 pm, and I can't stop vomiting. I've drunk half of the second batch, and my bowel is clear, so I'm hoping that will be enough for my colonoscopy tomorrow. The no eating and sitting on the toilet doesn't bother me at all, I wish there was something less nauseating!"
