For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation "I’ve been taking this medicine for a month now (3mg). The first time I took it, I had a whale call from my insides and had explosive diarrhea for about an hour. I knew that it was a side effect and that it could go away with time. No. Three weeks later and still the same thing. I take the pill and within 20-60 minutes, I get the squirts normally around 10 times. I do feel clear and less bloated, but I am scared to take it on days I have a meeting, will be traveling, will be going outside, etc. Basically, I don’t want to squirt in my pants! This stuff I have no control when the urge hits. And the pain that comes with squirting pure stomach acid is so much to handle. It’s not always acid, but it is at least 1 out of 5 times. I have acid reflux but I would have that if I took the meds or not. Lord help us"

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I have dealt with chronic idiopathic constipation for years. The only thing that worked was Dulcolax, and that causes crazy diarrhea. I had awful stomach bloating to the point people thought I was pregnant. The instant I ate, I would feel swelling, my bra got tighter, my wedding ring would cut into me, etc. I was given a 4-week supply of Trulance by my doctor. The results are...I no longer bloat and have stomach pain and knots. I'm not scared to eat anymore. The bowel movements are here and there. Before, it was maybe once every 2 weeks. Now it's maybe 2 in one week. I am going to keep taking this just for the comfort of eating."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation "I've been on Linzess for years now for my IBS-C. My insurance decided to deny me and make me try Trulance. I'm on day 2, and I've never felt so sick from a medication in my life. The nausea, bloating, and nasty belly pains are so bad today. It's to the point that I'm running to the bathroom and not knowing which end it's coming out of. Dealing with this while working is not easy. Had explosive diarrhea, and now I have the shakes and feel so weak. By the way, nausea is at an all-time high as well. My stool is now pale in color. I'm all set with this drug! No thank you!"

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Those of you saying it caused stomach pain, bloating, and didn't produce a BM should probably make sure that 1. You don't have a blockage and 2. Be tested for pelvic floor dysfunction or possible anal stenosis."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I was taking Linzess for the better part of three years, it did the job but had major AEs. I experienced bloating, weight gain, and the biggest problem for me was stomach pains. My GI doc switched me over to Trulance about 30 days ago, and as of now, I'm not having any AEs. I hope it continues to work this well."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation "I struggle with severe constipation. (Maybe IBS-C, not sure). My doctor prescribed this since I have a bowel movement only every 3-4 weeks. I tried every OTC laxative you can buy, and nothing worked. Not even the enemas. So I gave Trulance a try. The first time I took it, it started to cause pretty painful stomach cramps 2.5 hours later for about 15 minutes, and then after I had several bowel movements. I do not take this daily because I am afraid of having the stomach cramps, etc., at work. So I’ll take it once or twice a week. I’d say definitely give this medication a try! One time I did take it, and I didn’t have a bowel motion, but 90% of the time I will get complete relief within 3 hours. It does cause a little stomach pain after going to the bathroom, but it goes away in about an hour. The first time I used it, I lost 5 pounds. I really hope it helps anyone struggling with severe constipation."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "This medication caused severe diarrhea. Took one pill and had constant diarrhea for 27 hours straight along with stomach pain. My bf is a gastroenterologist and hadn’t seen this reaction before. Go figure, but this medication doesn’t work for everyone."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation "My doctor provided a sample of Trulance to try. I experienced explosive diarrhea, bloating, and stomach pain. I was dehydrated, and the next day I felt low energy. I don't think this medication is for me."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I had diarrhea and stomach pain for the first week, and then nothing, but weight gain of 6 pounds by the end of the month. Going back to senna, as this is not for me."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I used this medication yesterday, and it made me extremely ill. I have chronic constipation, but Metamucil usually gives me good relief. My doctor recommended I try Trulance, and it was a big mistake. I had severe stomach cramps within two hours and then had severe diarrhea for at least four hours. I also became nauseated within this time. I thought that Trulance was advertised to work differently than a laxative, but it does not. Its effects were worse than the strongest laxative I have ever taken. The effects were most comparable to a stomach virus. Think hard and beware before you use this medication."
