Pitavastatin for High Cholesterol "I’ve been on 2 mg Livalo for about 6 months. I take it at night and have had morning diarrhea for about 4 months. Also, neck pain and confusion. I’m going to stop taking it and have labs done to see LDL/HDL numbers. But if diarrhea stops, I’m off it."

Pitavastatin for High Cholesterol "I am a 59-year-old male, in good health, and began a life change in July of '20. I ride 30-40 miles on my bike each week and am down over 50 pounds. I eat sensibly and feel better than I ever have! I’ve tried every form of statin for years with frustration. All caused me muscle discomfort until Livalo. My cardiologist prescribed 2 mg each night in August, a month after beginning my exercise program. He also sent me to my PCP for labs. The results of those labs were good, with the exception of HDL, which was slightly low (38 for a recommendation of 39 or greater). My total cholesterol was 145, which was not bad, but since the cardiologist was insisting, I began the medication. Since then, I have been able to come off 2 blood pressure medications and now only take Livalo. I received the results of a lipids test and will no longer be taking Livalo. Although my HDL did go from 38 to 63, my total cholesterol increased from 145 to 246. It appears Livalo is detrimental to my levels! I’m done!"

Pitavastatin for Dyslipidemia "After experiencing a range of intolerable side effects while trying a sequence of traditional, inexpensive statins, Pitavastatin, aka Livalo, has worked well. Livalo was my last resort, albeit a significantly more expensive choice, costing more than 10 times the price of the old, more familiar statins. Fortunately, while on Livalo, I have had no GI upset, no muscle issues, and no memory problems. My LDL is down significantly (almost 20%), while my HDL seems to be unchanged. My triglycerides are down only slightly more than statistically noticeable, but my dietary restriction of carbohydrate intake being kept to a very low level has had the greatest effect on successfully managing a meaningful reduction of my triglyceride level."

Pitavastatin for High Cholesterol "I have been on Livalo for approximately 5 years. For the past 2 years, I have been having confusion, trouble finding words, and severe neuropathy in my feet. My feet burn and ache so badly I can't sleep at night. I never once attributed it to this medicine, I just thought it was something I would have to live with, the joys of getting older (60). I finally mentioned it to my doctor, and she suggested I go off of the Livalo for two weeks and see how I feel. Today is Friday, and I quit taking it on Wednesday. My feet have gone from a pain level of 10 to about a 2. I can't believe how much better I feel. I took Lipitor before Livalo and experienced severe leg pain."

Pitavastatin for High Cholesterol "I've been on this about a year, and it's worked fine with no side effects at all that I can see. I had Lipitor prior to this for about 3 months, which had all the usual side effects, and before that, Zetia, which nearly killed me after about 4 years on that (muscle weakness and degeneration was the worst side effect of Zetia). Livalo works with few side effects if you can afford it or if your insurance will cover it."

For High Cholesterol "I was on Zocor for approximately 20 years and then diagnosed with fatty liver. I was taken off Zocor, and my liver enzymes went down, then put on Crestor, liver enzymes went up again, then put on Livalo. Liver enzymes up again. LDL down to 110. I am thinking statins and liver enzymes need balancing."

Pitavastatin for High Cholesterol "I started Livalo in Feb 2022. Having bad muscle pain from previous stints taking statins, I was happy that the issue did not arise again… at first. It’s now mid-May 2022, and I’ve noticed really painful left heel pain and then started noticing right neck and shoulder pain and tingling in my right arm. I’ve decided to stop taking Livalo to see if the pain recedes, which I’m sure will be the case after stopping other statin meds. Good results, though, on the numbers-I just can’t tolerate the side effects."

Pitavastatin for High Cholesterol "I've been on Livalo for 3 weeks now. I went to put makeup on, and I had to hold my hands to stop them from shaking. Also, I'm having a lot of anxiety and confusion. Out of pocket is 60.00 for 30 pills, waiting to see my doctor for updated labs. I'll see results in a couple more months."

Pitavastatin for High Cholesterol "I had shoulder pain and lots of neck cramping. I take Livalo 2 mg at night and Losartan Potassium 25 mg in the morning. I'm not sure which medication is causing the pain issues, but I'm seriously considering stopping the Losartan first. I will know more once my six-month lab report is completed."

Pitavastatin for High Cholesterol "Livalo works for me after issues with other statins. Extremely high cost of Livalo is a budget killer. Zypitamag is not a generic for Livalo but uses the same active ingredient (pitavastatin). I’ve been using it for 5+ months and have observed absolutely no difference. The biggest problem I had was convincing my family doctor to write a prescription, even after providing him with supporting data. I ended up showing the same data to my cardiologist and had no problem getting the script."

For High Cholesterol "Have been taking 4 mg of generic pitavastatin for 11 months. Absolutely no side effects from it, and I did have side effects from rosuvastatin (tendon issues) and atorvastatin (gastro issues). It is not as strong in lowering LDL as the other drugs, but I do get around a 40% decrease from baseline, which I'll take!"

For High Cholesterol "I was on simvastatin for a few years. After a few years, my physician noticed changes in my blood work, and he switched me to Livalo or pitavastatin. My 'numbers' improved greatly. I have had no side effects with either drug. Unlike with other statins, you can have grapefruit and grapefruit juice with pitavastatin as the drug works differently in your system. At first, the drug would cost 50 dollars for a 30-day supply, but the manufacturer's coupon brought it down to 25, and later to 18 dollars. I am now on Medicare, and the price is 42 dollars, but my monthly health insurance costs went down by 100 dollars when I left employer coverage for Medicare."

Pitavastatin for High Cholesterol "Been on Livalo for approx 4 years. It has lowered my cholesterol, etc. nicely and have not had any of the typical muscle or joint pains. I have had a horrible, almost salty taste in my mouth. I am trying to narrow it down to which drug or supplement might be causing this. Anyone else had this side effect?"
