For Pain "I have been on pain medicines for over 10 years. I've tried it all. I was taking oxycodone 2 x 80 mg plus 2 x 40 mg plus 6 roxicodone 30 mg a day. My pain doctor switched me to 2 x 40 plus 2 x 20 Opana plus with the same roxicodone a day. This helped some. I had built up a tolerance to oxycodone. Last month she changed the roxicodone to 4 x 10 mg Opana for breakthrough pain. Now I have my life back. This is the first time in years I have been able to get up and get around. I have had a pain pump before and was going to get another one, but after this switch as of now I don't need it. If Opana is not working, you may need a higher dose if you are able to take it. Don't give up."

For Pain "I recently started on Opana ER 20 mg, every 12 hours, with Opana 5 mg as needed (up to two) for breakthrough pain. Opana is amazing. I have very little breakthrough pain, and it's not bad at all. I have no side effects from the Opana and was taking a total of 60 mg of Norco (per 24 hours) prior to this. The best thing is no more horrible pain like when the Norco was wearing off. I feel human again and can shop and do things I did before I got hurt. I would like to note that I have read a lot of things on various websites that seem as though people are looking to get high from pain medicines as opposed to live pain-free from them. After I had my surgery a year ago, I had that horrible feeling of being 'stoned' from simple hydrocodone, and I hated it."

For Pain "I have been on pain medicines since 1993 for back pain. I have been taking OxyContin 40 mg 3x per day. Last month, my pain management doctor said that he was no longer writing for OxyContin because of it showing up on the streets of our community. He said I had the choices of morphine, methadone, or Opana ER. I chose Opana, so now I am on 30 mg twice a day. The only benefit that I am experiencing is that it takes away the withdrawal symptoms, and they don't drop you like when an OxyContin wears off, but for me, the pain is still there."

For Pain "I switched to Opana ER this year, as the Morphine ER I had been forced to take since last summer made me very nauseated (even with nausea meds), caused terrible headaches, and didn't cover my pain adequately so I could live some sort of life. I have loved the Opana ER. I take 40 mg twice a day, and after the first month in which the switchover was difficult, there have only been a few occasions where, after I took the drug, I started going through withdrawal. I'm not sure what was wrong with the pills, as I set an alarm to take them and confirmed I took them. Now I am in the donut hole. Endo Pharm won't help because there is a generic which costs more than the Opana. Don't know what to do."

For Pain "This prescription is extremely expensive, with my insurance it's $291.00. My doc gave me a discount card, and the pharmacist still said the cost would be $291.00. What's the purpose of the discount card? Can anyone help me with any information on how I can reduce the cost of this prescription?"

For Pain "I had a failed surgery nine years ago on my back at L4-5 and have taken a lot of medicines to get through the day. My doctor has had me on Opana ER 20 mg only for about a year now, or close to it. As far as the pain, it works well with little breakthrough. But the side effects for me just get worse: nausea, sweats, cold, hot, very uneasy feeling. At first, they were mild but seem to be getting worse with time. I feel so sick at times it's getting to be as bad as the pain level was and just makes me as mean. My doctor has talked me out of stopping once, but I just made an appointment this morning and I'm getting off Opana. This stuff is very strong and works well, just a lot of side effects."

For Pain "I was on three 10 mg ERs per day, and it was wonderful. Low side effects, did not need to increase dose even after years. Now that they've pulled it, I've tried OxyContin (20 mg twice/day) and then Exalgo (8 mg once/day), and neither works as well as the Opana. I have lupus and OA (need joint replacement)."

For Pain "My insurance company would not fill a prescription for OxyContin until I have tried Opana and a couple of others I've never heard of. I was in a near-fatal auto accident younger, I need a knee and hip replacement, breast cancer at the end of 2013, and have had a terrible time with infections, causing more surgeries. I lay in bed usually 16 hours a day (including sleep) because I hurt all over and even more with house or yard chores. I'm allergic to morphine, codeine, Dilaudid, fentanyl, CT scan dye - I can take only Demerol after surgery. At home, the only medication that I am not allergic to is OxyContin and Ultram. I am now trying Opana because of my insurance company. I'm supposed to take 1 - 20 mg 2x/day. I am very disappointed. What little relief it gave me was only for about 2 hours."

For Pain "Opana ER was the absolute best pain medication for long-term use that I have ever used. I was on the medication for approximately 2 1/2 to 3 years until I developed a severe itching problem (head to soles of feet) from its use. If that had not happened, I would still be using it and be virtually pain-free 24/7."

For Pain "Been on almost everything for over 4 years. I feel Opana ER and Opana IR take away the pain 25% - 50% more than any other medicine I have taken, which means I am feeling good again. I am again able to work, clean, and do a lot of the fun stuff I had to stop when I got sick (even mountain biking again!)."

For Pain "I used to take methadone 10 mg 5× a day, worked perfectly, $50 for 150. Although every medical care provider looks at you like you are a heroin addict. The government told my doctor no more methadone prescriptions or lose your license, what? Now on Opana 30 ER (oxymorphone) works great for me, but $1,400 a script, why? Thanks, Uncle Sam."

For Pain "Opana ER is the 1st ER medication that I've tried that actually works for an extended period of time. And I've had to try many for my severe back and neck injuries. One 20 mg pill will last at least 8 hrs, and I work long 16 hr days, so that's a very good thing. I highly recommend it for people with severe problems/injuries. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for just mild to moderate pain problems or acute problems. Most ideal for people with chronic severe injuries who also work a lot."

For Pain "I just began this drug yesterday, and considering that I have been under pain management for well over 10 years with oxycodone and OxyContin? I am having a very difficult time with the side effects of this medication. I will be reporting this to my Dr. immediately today, when his office opens. I have been unable to sleep the entire night, and have only had 2 pills 12 hours apart! I am going to the ER as I cannot continue feeling this way..."

For Pain "I cannot believe the cost of Opana ER! After my wife and I pay our deductible for the Opana ER, we still get the shaft! I take four a day, and after insurance, I pay $250.00 for 30 days, and my wife takes six a day for 30 days, and hers is $350.00 after insurance pays! This is ludicrous. When I was given this medicine last year, I decided that I was not going to take any more tests or take any more medicine unless it is generic and cheap, and that the tests were paid 100%."

For Pain "After many trials of pain medication, oxymorphone was prescribed. Finally, relief. Now, after years of being on this, the pharmacist called me to tell me just two days before my refill it's being taken off the market. This was a huge branch pharmacy. I called another large chain store and was told the same thing. I have a message into my pain clinic, but not looking forward to this change."

For Pain "I have ankylosing spondylitis and have been on 3 or 4 pain relievers since 2008. I am now on 10 mg IR x 3 daily and 30 mg ER x 3 daily. I am getting very little relief; however, I have read many reviews where people taking Opana praise the medication. On the pain scale level, I am generally at 7-8 w/o the medicine and 5 or 6 with the Opana. I guess I need to talk to my provider and see if there are some different options..."

For Pain "After a motorcycle wreck 2 years ago, I was on Hydrocodone 10mg, then 2x 7.5mg per dose, then 3x 10mg, then 20mg OxyCodone, then Roxicodone (30mg oxy), then OxyContin 30mg with 10mg oxycodone for breakthrough. Finally, 2 months ago, I was put on 10mg ER (twice daily) with 5mg for breakthrough pain (up to 4 times a day), and I feel fantastic! The oxycodone made me forget about the pain but did nothing for the pain, the Opana actually relieves the pain. I don't hurt anymore! I love being pain-free and not high. Though I do miss being high sometimes, and you really CAN NOT drink on this. It does hit the respiratory system harder than many others."

For Pain "I have been in back pain since 2001 after a truck accident. I have been on many different pain medicines. I just recently got on Opana ER 20 mg every 12 hours. My pain level has gone down. I also have had a nerve block that didn't help very much at all. My L1-L2-L3-L4-L5 and S1 are bulging, and my spine is deteriorating. I also have to take Percocet 5/325 twice a day. Not totally pain-free yet, but better."

For Pain "I find this medication very difficult to rate due to the fact that effectiveness is not able to be judged until you have established a therapeutic level, which can ultimately take as long as a week or so! I am not sure if I am being titrated properly or not. I suffer from an extremely severe case of rheumatoid arthritis, and with that said, anyone who shares the same diagnosis will agree that 'no medication, no matter in what amount, can bring you even 75% relief.' I am taking 1 10 mg Opana ER 3 times a day! It is my understanding that 2 per day is the normal dosage, however, through a mix-up at an appointment with my pain management clinic, I saw a different practitioner, and she messed up my original regiment of 2 30 mg. I am on the fence with this drug!"

For Pain "I just started with Opana ER 5 mg every 12 hours. The first time I used it, it did help with the pain, not much, but a little. Then, after a few days, I started suffering from some of the side effects. Anxiety attacks that verged on the near-panic-attack stage, difficulty breathing, and a few others. I told my doctor that I have heart problems, asthma, and a history of seizures, but he decided that he would give it to me anyway. I am glad that Opana ER works for some, but it is not the one for me."

For Pain "Was very disappointed with the Opana 10E round peach pill. They did not help my pain at all. I have taken a 40 mg before, and they worked wonders. I took over my doctor's dosage instructions after a while because it was not helping, and I was in so much pain after my surgery. I ended up taking 5 within an hour and was still in pain and sick as a dog. So I just stopped taking them altogether as they are very addictive and did NOT want any addictions, especially since they were useless. Very DISAPPOINTED!"

For Pain "This medication has given me no pain relief. All it has done is give me about every side effect listed in the warnings and a few more. After a utility pole fell over 15 years ago, I was doing just fine on Flexeril until I had a drug interaction, and my doctor has been searching ever since for another drug. I have tried 3 different ones at this point and am getting frustrated."

For Pain "For years, I have had L1-L2 pain from a compression fracture and moderate disc degeneration. The pain relief from this is so much better than anything else I have taken, and I can go about my normal life without feeling drugged up like OxyContin or other narcotic pain killers. Not 100% relief yet, though. I've only had it for a few weeks, and my doctor and I are still working to find the right dosage. I'm on 15 mg every 8 hours at the moment and will probably move up to 20 mg soon. It's very promising, though."
