"I started this med after 8 yrs of methadone for chronic widespread pain. Was originally started out with a very low dose of 10mg 2X daily and it didn't seem to help at all. Was raised to 40 mg and for some strange reason after not feeling as though it was helping and going to 3X a day I was given the name brand instead of the genetic and within 24 hrs I noticed a measurable difference. Now my insurance won't pay for the name brand and although in the same dose, 40 mg 3X daily I feel like I've been given a placebo. The name brand works wonderfully as long as I take an instant release med with it but if I don't it is not effective enough to let me sleep without tossing and turning. I am taking a total of 120 mg per day."

"I've had one back surgery so far, a L5 S1 fusion which didn't work and I'm in alot of pain. I have tried many other pain medications, narcotic and non-narcotic to try to manage my pain, along with acupuncture and physical therapy. Finally my doctor gave me Opana (extended and immediate release) and I get such wonderful much needed pain relief from them. I still get some breakthrough pain but these work so much better than anything else I have tried, including oxycontin, and I'm so thrilled."

"I was prescribed OxyContin 30 mg 4 X daily and eventually it didn't work so well as when I first started taking it. I took my left over OxyContin pills to my physician who then prescribed me 40 mg Opana ER (yellow octagonal shape). It works so much better than OxyContin and the pain relief lasts longer. There is no "high" associated with Opana ER. I have several painful medical conditions after being injured at work and some years later was involved in a near fatal car wreck. Opana ER is a wonderful medication. The only drawback is that is does take about an hour to start working well. The pain relief lasts about 8 hours. I highly recommend speaking to your physician about Opana ER if continuous pain relief is needed."

"I have suffered for over 30 years. Was going to the VA and then my family DR gave me this, it was a life change and then the medicine went off for a short time I thought it would never come back. When it did my Dr slowly moved my medicine up. I am getting better, I have a lot of pain, was hurt in the army."

"I was in an accident. Doctors words...I had to learn how too do everything again walk, talk, stand, brush teeth etc. Oxycodone and Oxycontin neather worked much. I was switched to Opana ER. What a difference this made. Pain was reduced by 50% more than the Oxycontin and almost no mental decrease. This was my biggest issue and now solved with Opana ER. Thank you Opana ER."

"After failed back fusion surgery L4 L5 S1 nothing would touch the pain until Opana ER. I was taking 20 mg three times daily and have cut back to 5 mg 3 times daily with significant pain increase because I thought I was losing my mind. I seem to have built up a tolerance and either need to increase again dramatically or find something else. Have heard that you can easily build tolerance to Opana. I am your proof. "

"I crashed a motorcycle almost ten years ago at 80 mph. I am lucky to be alive and walking. I have tons back problems now though. The doctors fed me high doses of every narco out there. I became addicted to the feeling of being painfree, no matter how many pills I had to take. Life got unmanagable and I was tired of it. After ten years of this I decided to start from scratch and clean up and get re-evaluated and try a different path. I was put on suboxone 8mg for about 8 months to treat the addiction. After that I had no desire to put a pill in my mouth. SUBOXONE WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE. Just taking Opana ER 30mg twice a day now."

"I have Trigeminal Neuralgia, which is the "most painful condition known to man", and Opana ER is the first medication that has ever actually helped with this type pain. It has worked better for me than any other pain medicine and it lasts FAR longer than any other extended release medications I've tried. Because this works better for me, I am able to take less/lower dose than other medicines- which means I can function at a much higher rate. Many patients with this condition do not take (narcotic) pain medication because Trigeminal Neuralgia does not usually respond well to them. However, for me, this is the 1st and only medicine that has actually helped with my level of pain and it has allowed me to have a much higher quality of life!"

"I started out with 10mg, but the side effects were too much! My doc then put me on 5mg, which did nothing at all, then bumped me to 7.5. I am starting back on the 10mg this week because 7.5mg is alright but not really working as well as the 10mg did. Now, although the side effects were horrible, the pain relief was great! I am having insurance issues, so unfortunately for the next couple days, until I can go pick it up, I have to use just my Oxycodone 2xdaily as needed for break through pain, and my muscle relaxant. I realized just in one day how much the 7.5 worked more than I realized when my shoulder and neck started throbbing. It is obvious that although it was not as good as the 10's were for pain relief, it worked more than I realized!"

"I suffer from neck and back issues with my spine and I have tried many different pain medications and procedures but the one where I got the most relief is Opana. Sometimes the pain is so bad that Opana or my breakthrough medication do not control it. Maybe 6 to 10 times a week."

"I've got scoliosis and disc herniation. I was taking Vicoprofen 7.5/200 four times a day. It worked great. My Dr refused to write for it anymore and insisted I take Opana ER 10mg 2X daily. I went from a $15 co-pay to a $180 co-pay. The medicine seems to do OK with the pain...but the constipation!! Also, I feel very sad and somber on it."

"I had 3 back operations and on the second one I had two implants put in my L5 disc. The second and 3rd operation was about 2 1/2 years ago. Since then I was taking one 30mg Oxycontin 3 times per day and two 10mg Percocet 3 times per day. Then the Oxycontin got reformulated and did not only quit helping with the pain but also made me sick. So after talking with my pain management doctor he suggested and prescribed 40mg Opana twice a day along with my Percocet. This medicine worked so much better then the Oxycontin. The pain is gone. "

"I take Opana ER 20mg twice a day along with Oxycodone 30mg 3 times a day for break through pain, I think it works wonderful. I have severe lower back pain all day and all night. If I don't have the Opana along with the Oxycodone then it just doesn't work well at all. I have tried many other medicine and this is the one that works for sure."

"I have spinal stenosis and compressed discs. They said I could not have surgery because of other health issues so medication was the only alternative. Taking Opana ER, I am able to do things I need to do. I can do so much more than I was able to do before. Before taking Opana I was in a wheelchair and cane. All I could do was lay on the bed or couch. I am now taking 20 mg every 12 hours. This is the only drug that has ever helped me."

"my bottom spinal disks are crooked and rest on my nerves between them. I was on 60mg of Morphine Sulfate Er. and took it for years and asked my Dr. for an increase and he switched me to Opana 20mg Er pills and they helped my back pain and seem to last a little longer between dosage. I am prescribed it twice a day. I seem to have less tiredness than the morphine and I am prescribed 5mg of oxycodone for morning breakthrough pain. Due to my liver condition he won't increase the oxycodone because it makes the liver turn it into morphine to filter it. when I need an increase of the Opana I'm sure he'll give me that because it's a form of morphine and my liver can process it okay. So I hope this helps other people with my condition or similar."

"I have severe leg and back pain. I have had back and leg pain for quite a few years. In 2008 I fell 25 ft out of a deer stand which tore both rotor cuffs and elbow problems. After 9 operations and physical therapy I still have pain which includes back and leg problems. I started on opana ER and take morphine sulfate for break through. Opana has been a wonderful help which has helped me be able to function through the day with some normality which at one point I couldn't do. And now I hear it's going to be pulled off shelves and done away with. Very Disturbing."

"I normally take generic opana (oxymorphone) 30mg and it works great for my pain. I can function good such as go to the store, light yard work, and enjoy family. But I recently got the Brand name opana (endo) and it is awful. I'm in so much pain and experiencing withdrawal symptoms. It's been 18 days and it is still like taking a Placebo. My breakthrough oxycodone 30mg is the only thing keeping me out of the hospital. I've been in bed 90% of the time since taking this Endo brand. I think it's the amount of additive in the medication. "

"I just began this drug yesterday, and considering that I have been under pain management for well over 10 years with oxycodone and oxycontin? I am having a VERY difficult time with the side effects of this medication. I will be reporting this to my Dr. IMMEDIATELY today, when his office opens. I have been unable to sleep the entire night, and have ONLY had 2 pills 12 hrs apart! I am going to ER as I cannot continue feeling this way..."

"This Opana is an excellent medication!! I was taken off of oxycontin 60mg and am now on Opana ER 30 mgs. They work so much better than the oxycontin for my pain, and the euphoric side effects aren't too bad to boot either. I would say that a twenty mg opana is equivalent to a forty mg oxy. The thirties are equivalent to about a sixty plus. A very good medicine for pain!!"

"I am fused from C3 to C7 and from L1 to S1. I have nerve damage because of a botched operation. I have taken this medicine for 3 years. It is the only drug I have been able to take for this length of time and not have to titrate it up. I would take it forever but my insurance company has decided that I only need two tablets a day. I currently take 2 x 40mg ER tabs 3 times a day. This was a great medicine for me and anyone on long term use should at least try it."

"When I first started taking this medicine, it was not working and I was upset that I switched from the Roxicontin 30s. I changed back to my original script but a new doctor convinced me to try the Opana once again. I took the doctor's advice and this time it worked-actually quite well. I am virtually pain free and able to play with my kids again."

"This prescription is extremely expensive, with my insurance its $291.00, my Doc gave me a discount card and the pharmacist still said the cost would be $291.00. What's the purpose of the discount card. Can anyone help me with any information on how I can reduce the cost of this prescription ?"

"I have had two lower back surgeries (L4-L5) and (L5-S1) which has left me with severe pain in both feet and severe sciatica in the left leg radiating down to my left foot. I have tried Oxycontin and oxycodone with limited success. Now I take Opana ER 20 mg twice daily with about level 1 to 2 pain instead of the constant level 4 to 5 pain reaching level 7-8 when the dose wore off."

"I have been on pain medicines for over 10 years. I've tried it all. I was taking oxycodone 2 x 80mg plus 2 x 40mg plus 6 roxicodone 30mg a day. My pain doctor switched me to 2x40 plus 2x20 Opana plus with the same roxicodone a day. This helped some. I had built up a tolerance to oxycodone. Last month she changed the roxicodoen to 4x10mg Opana for break through pain. Now I have my life back. This is the first time in years I have been able to get up and get around. I have had a pain pump before and was going to get another one but after this switch as of now I don't need it. If Opana is not working you may need a higher dose if you are able to take it. Don't give up. "

"Was very disappointed with the opana 10E round peach pill. They did not help my pain at all. I have taken a 40 mg. before and they worked wonders. I took over my doctors dosage instructions after a while because it was not helping and I was in so much pain after my surgery. I ended up taking 5 within an hour and was still in pain and sick as a dog. So I just stopped taking them all together as they are very addictive and did NOT wont any addictions especially sense they were useless. Very DISAPPOINTED!"
