For Urinary Frequency "I was terrified to do it but couldn't stand running to the bathroom twice per hour anymore. My injections were worst case scenario as I owed out the lidocaine. Out of 20 injections, I didn't feel 10 at all. The other 10 hurt, but it was fast, and 48 hours later, my life had changed. I highly recommend this, but do research on your urologist. How many does he/she do? What's the rate of needing a straight cath post-procedure? What's his/her failure rate? Find someone good and then do it if nothing else worked. Life changing!"

For Urinary Frequency "I've had bladder problems since the age of 13, got worse around 15 but could still go out even though I was using the toilet every couple of hours. Then at 18, I stopped leaving the house as it got so bad. I'm now 23. I had Botox in June and I can't wait for it to wear off. So ill all the time, feels as if I constantly need the toilet more than ever, pains in my bladder and sides, had to use a cath but can pee a little tiny bit. Was at the doctor's on Thursday and he said I've got a bad infection that I've had for a while as there's blood in it. This Friday I go back to the hospital where I had Botox done for a check. I'm at my wit's end, have no clue what to do anymore and I feel like I'm never going to get better."

For Urinary Frequency "Worst experience I have ever had. It's been bad since day one. First of all, the procedure hurt. Then I could not pee at all. I went to the doctor and was informed this was a side effect, and now I should be able to pee on my own. Well, I still could not. The spasms almost drove me crazy. She prescribed me some meds, and they stopped. I am still unable to urinate on my own, just a few drops come out, and I know my bladder is full. I hope this stops soon. I hope I don't have to self-catheter until this wears off... never again...."

For Cervical Dystonia "I received injections in my neck, shoulders, and calf. Serious side effects of feeling like I have been poisoned for 1-2 weeks after the injections. I still have incredible pain and muscle weakness. My calf muscle still cramped and knotted. Difficulty swallowing at times. I really don't know if it worked at all for me. It's been a year, and I still am wondering what benefits I am receiving."

For Urinary Incontinence "This is my second time having Botox. They gave me 100 first, and that didn't help, so they doubled the dose to 200. I have gotten a little control during the day but am still very incontinent at night. Still wear Depends and pads. Very disappointed. I feel lots of pain around my private area when I have the urge to pee. Also, I experience a severe tingling sensation from my shoulder down my arms to the tips of my fingers, and as I pee, the severity lessens and stops as soon as I'm finished peeing. Apparently, my doctor has never heard about this. Am I alone here? Very frustrated."

For Urinary Frequency "I just had my third Botox treatment. The first was great. It was painful but worth it. I did not retain urine or have an infection. What a relief. The second one was 7 months later, and I had good results. This third one was nine months later, and after 6 weeks, I have not had any positive results. I have an appointment with my urologist to see what we can do, but it is very disappointing to go through this with no results. I thought I could control this urge incontinence for life."

For Urinary Frequency "Had my second set of Botox today for overactive bladder problems, the first one lasted 8 months. Could have gone longer, but going on a trip in June and wanted to make sure I did not have to pack a suitcase full of pads. Best decision I ever made. After five years of wetting all the time, not getting any sleep, and quality of life awful, this has been a miracle. Yes, it is a little painful during the injections, but well worth the pain."

For Urinary Frequency "I had a Botox injection in my bladder in December, and I had trouble peeing. My bladder was in a lot of pain before I had this done too. The severe pain did stop, but still had some pain with my bladder. By February, I was having severe pain again and infections again. So that Botox injection doesn't really work. It causes problems. It is not good that you can't pee, and that is what it does. I much rather run to the bathroom several times than not be able to pee at all. And my pain issue with my bladder is back so soon. So I wouldn't recommend it to anyone."

For Cervical Dystonia "I've received Botox injections for 2 years, once every 3 months, it's for the neck muscles that are spasming and also cause severe jaw pain. Long story short, I did receive some relief in my jaw. But with 3 exceptions, I've had a significant head tilt that is just as painful as what was being treated. The back of my neck hurts so much, and I can't hold my head up. It's been almost 1 month since the procedure, and this is a 24/7 occurrence. I'm so desperate for pain relief (it's due to a car accident 20 yrs ago) that I keep going back, hoping that the next round will be the one to work. I wouldn't do this unless you've exhausted all other options. The risk is too great."

For Urinary Frequency "Had Botox done on March 19 under local anesthetic. Told this was the all-singing and dancing cure, total rubbish. Not only was it extremely painful (according to clinicians, only going to feel a slight scratch), it didn't work. I was worse off than when I started after this useless treatment. I would never have this treatment again, and it is extremely painful under local."

For Migraine Prevention "Very painful on my forehead (most painful of my migraine spots due to a MVA TBI), but relieving overall. My shoulders don't do well with the shots, but I believe it's due to my multiple conditions. I'm now having terrible charlie horses on my legs, arm pain, and the worst is major hair loss!"

For Urinary Frequency "I had Botox for the second time on 23rd Jan, and a week later I had to go to A&E as I couldn’t wee. They tried to put a catheter in, but I was screaming and crying as it was so painful. They eventually got it in, and I had retained 518 mls. I don’t use catheters now, but the sensation I get when I need to go is painful, and I’m finding I have to squeeze the last drop out. I also get a shivering/shuddering sensation as I start to wee. The first time I had Botox was brilliant, no problems at all, that’s why I agreed to a second treatment. I’m never having it done again. All I think about is my bladder. I’d rather wet myself than go through that again. Can’t wait for it to wear off."

For Urinary Frequency "I just recently had my 4th Botox injection. For the first time, other than needing to use catheters due to retention (just 1 1/2 weeks now), I feel normal. Every 4 hours, and my bladder is actually full! Over the next couple of weeks that will get better, but I still might have to cath. (knowledge from past experience) after intercourse and 1st thing in the AM. I'm okay with that. Forgot what that was like since my hysterectomy 10 years ago. For those who are frustrated after two weeks: patience...give it time. It takes a few times for things to begin to be better, and each Botox brings better relief. The pain during the injections, although quite powerful, is well worth the results! At least for me."

For Migraine Prevention "Bad experience from botulinum toxin. Diffuse muscle weakness and cervical/shoulder pain. No effect on migraine intensity. Please, do not forget: Botox is the most powerful neurotoxin ever discovered. It has a modest effect in migraine relief. When you read Preempt study I and II, you’ll discover that Botox adds just 1.9 fewer days of migraine relief when compared to placebo. Too many side effects, too few beneficial effects. Botulinum toxin causes denervation of the muscles, and this may be irreversible. If you feel muscle weakness after Botox injection, ask your physician for an electroneuromyographic study. This will show the real effect of Botox in our body. Try to search the web using words like botulinum toxin - muscle weakness, botulinum toxin - muscle atrophy. You’ll find many cases of severe related side effects. It’s disgusting to see cases like those described here, so sorry to read about this."

For Migraine Prevention "I have new daily persistent headaches and have tried every med imaginable. 15 months ago, I gave Botox a try. Severe migraines for a week following, with the most debilitating neck/shoulder pain/weakness of my life. I really struggled, it was tremendous. Headaches did not improve, and I continue to experience neck pain. Just leaning over to tie my kids' shoes... I can only tolerate bending over for a minute now. This has become a neck chronic problem. My neurologist doesn’t take this side effect seriously either."

For Cervical Dystonia "It's been 15 days since my first treatment, and so far I would have to say my movement and tremor symptoms are the same, and the pain and headaches are worse! I know it's early still, but if I had to make a decision today, I would NOT get this treatment again."

For Cervical Dystonia "I have been diagnosed with cervical dystonia. I did not have any real pain. I just had the head shaking, which made it difficult to sleep with my head bouncing on the pillow. I got Botox shots about a month ago. The head shaking is much worse, and the pain on that side of my head, neck, and shoulders is intense. My doctor used the machine someone mentioned and knows what she is doing. It is just not working for me for cervical dystonia. I have had it for wrinkles, and it works great for that. I am waiting for a call back from her to see if there is anything they can do to help the pain and shaking this has caused. Do y'all (yes, I'm from the south) know of anything that will help? I'm really hurting."

For Cervical Dystonia "I had Botox injections almost 2 weeks ago for my diagnosis of cervical dystonia. So far, no improvement. Does anyone have pain that radiates into your face? This drives me crazy. Radiates from the jaw area over cheeks toward my eyes, and I still have tremor."

For Urinary Frequency "My mom had the Botox injection done two months ago, the worst decision she’d ever made. She was in a lot of pain when she had it done and still experiences pain here and there to this day, along with other side effects. People should read up on common and rare side effects from this procedure, weigh out pros and cons. Please think carefully before you decide to go for it. It’s awful to see my mom going through this whole ordeal and unable to help her."

For Migraine Prevention "I’ve been receiving Botox for migraines for almost 4 years now. My first neurologist was horrible, and it hurt so bad. My second neurologist was AMAZING at doing Botox, and though it still hurt, it was over quickly, and she was wonderful at distracting me. Before Botox, I was having 2-4 migraines a week, and oftentimes they’d put me in the ER. Twice I’ve had seizures from a migraine. I’d say the Botox has cut my migraines down by about 70%. It takes about a week or two to take effect and wears off usually around week 10. But those 8-9 weeks are totally worth it. It had been a huge change for my life."

For Migraine Prevention "Botox was my last resort after everything else failed me. A week after my first treatment, I'm having nonstop headaches, shooting pains in my head, my neck and shoulders hurt more than ever, I have no energy, and I had nausea, dizziness, and stomach cramps. I wish I had never gotten this."

For Migraine "I’ve had migraines since I was a kid of about 11. I am now 59 and also have chronic daily headaches. I have tried just about everything. I got my first injections of Botox on April 1st. I was in so much pain, a few days later, my neck hurt so bad, and my shoulders, and then pounding headaches. I really wasn’t sure if I wanted any more, but everything I read said it really doesn’t work until the second or third time, and you will notice a difference. I have since found another doctor and went in on July 9th and had the second round, and I’m so happy I did this. It’s the first time in my life I haven’t had a headache every day. I’ve noticed a few trying to start, and they go away. Too bad I couldn’t have had this done years ago. I feel I have missed so much of my life from headaches."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been a chronic migraine sufferer since a child. I have tried everything and still maintain my daily medication. However, my specialist decided to refer me to another neurologist who performed Botox, and I thought, why not! I was scared, and it was painful, yes, but the results for me are amazing: no more stints in the hospital, no daily headaches, but yes, still migraines, however, they no longer last 3-4 days, and that is awesome. I can handle and maintain a migraine that lasts 24 hours and only occurs twice a week, yay. That's a bonus. Going back tonight for my second round, hoping for a better outcome this time around :)"
