For Bacterial Vaginosis "For the last 6 months, I've been fighting BV that would not go away. I've been on 2 lots of antibiotics in pill form, metronidazole, that were disgusting to take and swallow, and that didn't do anything. I felt horrible when being on these, they seemed to make my symptoms worse. I had tests done and would always come back positive for BV. Finally, I went to a Gyno that listened, he prescribed me Metrogel instead of pill form, and I would always ask them for a Diflucan pill to take at the end of the course to stop a yeast infection, which it did. So, I've been on the Metrogel now for 4 days, which I was told to use twice a day for 5 days, and my symptoms of burning and itching went away on the second day. I've also had no bad side effects. By using this gel, you do get a white clumpy discharge, but that should go away when the course is finished. This is the best I've felt in 6 months and would definitely use again if needed."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I used Metronidazole vaginal cream 10% for bacterial vaginosis caused by washing too much. My only symptom was a yellow discharge. I was very worried to start the treatment because of the reviews, I was scared of the side effects, and I waited for a month before starting. I’m on my last day of treatment, and the only symptom I had was a bit of a headache at the beginning and, today, mild cramping. Symptoms are very minimal. I have no more discharge."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I started getting BV when my partner, unbeknownst to me, started cheating. We were together for a couple of years, during which I took the pills - they were hard to swallow and irritated my stomach, even though they worked, but it would come back. We broke up, and I had other lovers, having protected and unprotected sex, and didn't develop BV with those partners. I got back with my old boyfriend, and BV started up again; even though it's not classified as an STD, it seems through my research on different boards that men can spread it. Anyway, I started using the gel, and despite the clumps of discharge, it worked fantastically. My boyfriend and I always use protection, and I do not allow him to perform oral on me either, since I've found that if he does this, I will also get BV. The gel really does work though."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "After being treated for yeast for 8 months with little success, my doctor put me on MetroGel as kind of a last resort to soothe my itching, burning, abnormal discharge, tingling, even though my cultures keep coming back negative for everything. I've taken MetroGel before when I actually had a positive culture for BV and had no complaints. This time around, I'm on my second night and feel awful. Itching is still there, I have body aches, chills, feel nauseous. I'm going to continue using this medicine for the next 3 nights, and I'll check back in to finish the review. I also have a gross discharge, but I assume this is the gel coming out."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "This drug seems to work for me and get rid of the symptoms of BV, the smell and the itch, however, the BV itself seems to come back, so I think it clears the symptom but doesn't cure the problem in my body."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I've had BV off and on for almost 2 years now. I would use Cleocin gel when it would come back, but I think my body just got immune to it, so about two weeks ago I tried MetroGel. It went away but did give me a yeast infection. I used Monistat one day and boom, the BV came back. So I'm trying the MetroGel again, but just for a longer period of time in hopes it does the job this time. Doesn't give me any side effects, which is something I stressed before taking it."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Gave this 5 stars. I will say it helps for the moment. I have had an issue now for several months going back to the doctor because of BV and yeast infection. She gives me the Diflucan to take, then do the gel for 5 nights. Once I'm done, in a few days it is back. I'm sick of going to the doctor every month. Last visit, she had recommended fresh suppositories. Ordered them and could not do it. So, with that being said, I'm on my last night now of the gel. I got a probiotic vitamin that I will start, plus I started with the Activia yogurt and changed my soap. Fingers crossed. Side effects I agree with most: headache, cold-like symptoms, and yes, a little more tired than usual."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I've been getting bacterial infections on and off for about 10 years, have always taken the metronidazole pills, and they give me a bad taste in my mouth, so this time I wanted to try the vaginal gel! Did not work at all! Plus, it gave me a yeast infection! Now having to redo treatment with pills! FML!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Dealt with recurrent infection (BV and yeast) for two years. I am currently reading through comments on many people's negative experiences with Metro and also wondering if others are having the same issue. Randomly, in my early 20s, I started to have issues with recurrent infection. I am sexually active, but I cut every potential issue out to stop these infections, yet still had the same issue. The first time having BV, I was prescribed Metro (oral), which in turn gave me a yeast infection (because antibiotics do that). I have tried every possible cure for recurrent infection, and boric acid suppositories have been the only things that work for me. My doctor put me on long-term treatment after my sixth time getting BV in the past two years, where I took oral Metro, followed by 30 days of boric acid and six months of Metro gel (I am on my first month of the gel)."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I've struggled with BV for a couple of years now. I've taken so many meds for this thing that it became a way of life. Always it returns! I'm also always told I have an inflamed cervix. Now I'm 11 weeks pregnant and went for my check. My cervix was severely inflamed (it bled during the pap smear). Was initially given Gynotran vaginal inserts (that didn't work). Now I've been given MetroGel inserts for 5 days. It was my last dose last night, and I noticed on day 3 cramping, then day 4-5 persistent abdominal cramping like when you hold your pee too long (which I didn't). Plus, I'm urinating a lot. Saw tiny white clumpy discharge too. Really hope this works and that I don't get a yeast infection as I'm already worried about my baby and fear using more meds during this time."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I’m on MetroGel-Vaginal on day 3, and I’ve been absolutely fine. Only side effect was cramping and feeling sick on the first day, other than that, absolutely fine. I was scared at first because of reading reviews, but so happy I started this and took the chance. If you’re worried, don’t be, do it! Best thing."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "When I was diagnosed with BV, I was initially given a script for this medication in pill form for 7 days. I ended up back at the doctor a week later with persistent symptoms. Another swab was tested, and I was still positive for BV. I was then started on the gel. Symptoms of BV cleared within a few days, which was great. I had pelvic discomfort, felt pretty tired, and had a little bit of discharge with blood one day. I also now have a yeast infection, which is the most common side effect. Overall, I would say the gel works more effectively at treating BV symptoms than the pill, but the side effects aren’t the best."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I have been having BV problems for a couple of years after I had my babe. Took this for the first time this week. Looks like it helped with BV, but caused some pretty bad symptoms: headache, stomachache, nervousness, some discharge with blood, cramping, insomnia, and intestinal issues. Hopefully it does the job!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Tried this gel for 1 night thinking it would have fewer side effects than in pill form. But I had a very bad experience. Within half an hour of using, my legs felt as if they were on fire, mainly from my knees to feet. Got worse with aching, shooting pains up and down my legs. My head felt funny, but no headache. All night I barely slept because of the severity of the pain. The hotness did lessen, still had painful legs until mid-morning, but it had spread to the rest of my body - a dull ache as if I had the flu. Had a slight blocked nose till morning as well. Felt slightly nauseous. Was itchy too, all over. Felt spaced out. Suffered memory loss in the day before all went away. Will not take again as I am allergic to antibiotics, so it is probably just me. BV did feel a bit better though."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I have recurring BV, so the MetroGel used three times a week helps a lot for a few days but has not gotten rid of it altogether. It provides some relief from BV, but I do get some side effects like dizziness, bloating, upset stomach, and tiredness. I only insert less than half of an applicator full each time, get fewer side effects from it, and it still is effective."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Used a 5-day gel treatment for mild BV. Caused very mild cramping and moderate itching after the first dose. A day after completing treatment, I developed a bad yeast infection and extreme itching. Did help the BV, but I’m not sure which infection I’d rather have, to be honest. Some reviews say that the white clumpy discharge is just the gel coming out, which I think I also have, accompanied by yeast infection discharge."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I am on my fourth night of vaginal MetroGel. One more night to go after that. Honestly, I felt like my symptoms figured out by day two. Really good stuff and the only thing I’ve had is the thick white discharge, but it had no odor and it really wasn’t all that bad, just I noticed it when wiping. Other than that, I am very, very satisfied with it, and it seems to be working wonderfully."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I've been battling BV off and on for 3 years now. I've used the gel now at least 5 times (once a night for 5 days), and I honestly have no idea why I keep going back to it. It never works for long (BV comes back right after the period), and it always leaves a side effect worse than the BV. Right now I'm dealing with constipation and UTI side effects (but no UTI, was tested), and my last treatment was almost 2 months ago. Never again. I will try and maintain with probiotics and Rephresh from here on out. Stay away from MetroGel!!!!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I started taking the MetroGel a few days ago and have been hospitalized twice since for severe stomach pain and cramping, nausea and vomiting, sweating, and breast discharge. This drug is horrible. None of the ER doctors put two and two together to find that my symptoms were a result of the gel. My own GYN doesn’t believe that the symptoms are related side effects, but it says right on the package that these are ‘less common’ side effects. I just figured it out last night and now I’m trying to get it out of my system."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I was honestly scared to try this medication with all the reviews I’ve read. I had little to no side effects. My side effects were just a little bit of cramping and discharge with a little blood. Symptoms were noticeably better. Just stay away from alcohol."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I was around 20 weeks pregnant when I noticed a fishy smell in my urine along with itchiness. I’m prone to getting BV, so I was already familiar with the symptoms. I went to urgent care, and sure enough, I was diagnosed with a UTI and BV. Not a fun combo. I double-checked with my OB and pharmacist if this was safe to take during pregnancy since I was a bit hesitant. They reassured me that it is and that it is Category B, which is deemed safe during pregnancy. They also explained that you can have more severe consequences when leaving BV untreated during pregnancy. I have always hated Flagyl oral route since those make me feel very sick, and the pharmacist explained that it's better to treat it vaginally rather than taking the oral pills systemically. Don't let the negative reviews steer you away from trying this and curing your BV. Trust me, I get really bad panic attacks when taking new medications, but this WORKED! No side effects aside from mild cramping and thick white discharge."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Awful medication. I had absolutely 0 symptoms of BV, but it came up in my pap during my physical. My doctor started me on the pill and I could hardly make it 1.5 days. Wasn't able to focus, felt drunk, nausea, extreme fatigue, ear congestion, and so on. I quit taking it immediately. My doctor then prescribed the topical gel, which I believe was a huge mistake, as it caused extreme and intense burning on the outside of my vagina. Then onto the vaginal gel insertion. I had to do 2 awful rounds of this. Worst cramps, nausea, and fatigue I've ever experienced. Bloating was so uncomfortable, I could hardly wear some of my clothes. It's been 3 weeks since I've been off the medication now, and I've still had waves of side effects. My gut bacteria and vaginal pH are completely out of whack. All I want to do is sleep, my migraines have intensified, and bloating is still an issue. Do not take this medicine, especially if you didn't have symptoms of BV to begin with!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I used this gel after being scared about reviews. I have lots of anxiety about certain meds due to side effects. I finally decided to give it a try. I had some side effects like minor stomach pain, but I do have IBS. This was the only side effect I had. No nausea, no headaches, etc. I do have white clumpy discharge, which is a common side effect of this med. Other than that, I'm okay! I just finished the treatment yesterday. I will update once the white clumpy discharge clears. Give this a try, guys!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Garbage. It takes it away for a little while, and right back again it comes. I've been going through this for 15 years now. As far as I'm concerned, this medicine causes it to reoccur, which I feel like the government and pharmaceuticals purposely did to make MONEY."
