For Gastroparesis "It worked great on my gastroparesis that I had after a bout of pancreatitis within 10 days, but had a very annoying side effect of shakiness. I felt like I was a Parkinson's patient and now hope that I never have that condition for real."

Metoclopramide for GERD "I was recently prescribed by the surgeon the Maxolon tablets for GERD. After five days, I was super fine, but it was combined with Nectizole. I am still on medication for almost fifteen days, and now no more food gets stuck in my chest. Side effect is minor, there is a little tremor on my lower lip, but I still need to inform my doctor."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "PLEASE do NOT take Reglan. I am posting this experience from over 4 years ago from my reaction to Reglan. That’s how impactful my reaction was to me. I suffer from migraines, and I go to the ER whenever it’s really bad. I happened to go to a new hospital one night because I was out of town when a migraine hit me. They gave me some sort of migraine cocktail but with Reglan (which I’ve never had before). As soon as it was pushed through the IV, I IMMEDIATELY started coughing uncontrollably, felt a cold rush going down my throat, and extreme weight on my chest. I then began to hallucinate while looking around the room, I felt like I was going insane. When I looked at the door in front of me, all I could see were swirls just everywhere, I can’t even explain what I was seeing. My whole body started to shake uncontrollably, only letting up for a few seconds before starting again. I then had extreme memory loss when asked simple questions from the techs!! I am scarred for life."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed this in the hospital for extreme nausea at 10 weeks pregnant. Took for a few days. Had panic attacks, restlessness, started punching walls, body constantly shaking, felt like I was going crazy. I would prefer to be sick than to ever go through this again. It is horrifying."

For Migraine "I went to the ER for a three-day migraine after sumatriptan wouldn't work. I was given a cocktail of Benadryl, Reglan, and Toradol in an IV. After a few minutes, I became very restless and couldn't stop shaking. My pulse and blood pressure skyrocketed. I felt like my head was going to explode. I called the nurse and was given more Benadryl to counteract the Reglan. I slept great for almost 3 hours in the ER, and my migraine was gone when I left."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Worst medication I’ve ever taken. On the second day of 5 mg dosage, I ended up with uncontrollable crying, tremors, sweating excessively, etc. I could not figure out why I was crying. Went to the ER, and they gave me Ativan and Benadryl and said hopefully the effects stop within 24 hours. This drug is scary. I will never take it again."

For Migraine "This is terrible. I went to the ER last night for stabbing pain migraine, they gave me Reglan and Benadryl via IV. Immediately, my skin felt cold, then turned super hot and flushed. My mouth got extremely dry, and it felt like my throat was closing. I was gagging. I was extremely restless and irritable. My hands were shaking so bad. The nurses looked at me like I was crazy. I made them take out the saline IV, and I left the hospital. I was given this at 10:30 pm, and it took me 6 hours to finally relax to fall asleep. Never, ever again. I’m adding this to my allergy list. I feel like I was given this through a pill before, though, and this didn’t happen."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I was in the ER for hyperemesis gravidarum. I could not hold anything down. I was admitted into the hospital and was given 5 mg of Reglan every 6 hours through IV. It definitely helped with my nausea. However, it made me extremely restless and I could not sleep for 3 days while in the hospital, and I take Seroquel 200 mg also. I do think it was a combination of not being comfortable in the hospital and the Reglan because I slept at home once I’m out with the pill form. But, I’ve been spacing the Seroquel and Reglan hours apart and not at the same time because I do think it definitely contributes to the Seroquel not being as effective since Reglan is made to empty your stomach and to process things better. Taking them at the same time was not as effective for sleep. I have a history of mental illness but take medication that helps, so I think I didn’t have many mental side effects because of that. Reglan is known to cause tremors, shakes, etc. Especially with other certain meds."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "I ended up going to the ER because of a several-day migraine and was given this plus Benadryl and a steroid. I've been to the ER once before for a week-long migraine, and the nurse asked what I was given. I told them the last time I was given something that made me shiver and shake uncontrollably for 20-30 minutes. He said that's the Reglan, but at this particular hospital, they like to put it through the IV as a drip slowly; not fast, as pushing it through a syringe into the patient's system can cause the reaction I had before. I did not shake or shiver like before; with the cocktail of meds, I became very sleepy and my muscles felt loose and dozed for a little while. Much better reaction than before!!!"

Metoclopramide for Migraine "I had the most horrendous experience with Reglan for migraine. I’ve never had a migraine bad enough to go to the ER, but I couldn’t kick this one. I wish I was well enough to look up each ingredient before I let them administer the drugs to me. The second I received the Reglan dose, I immediately felt a crushing, awful, crawling-out-of-my-skin weird feeling. I had to pull my mask down and started having a panic attack. Reality felt completely warped. I wanted to pull the IV out, I couldn’t hold still, even though they told me that holding still would make it go away faster: umm, not true. No one told me the potential side effects of this medication. I felt like I was dying, my legs were shaking, I was so restless and hopeless. The nurses kept saying it would go away after a few minutes, of course, it didn’t. After 30 minutes of this nightmare, they finally gave me Ativan for anxiety, and it helped. Stay away from Reglan!"

For Migraine "I had a sudden onset migraine, and nothing was helping the pain go away-urgent care. Being a deaf person, the experience at urgent care was already stressful because they don’t use live interpreters. The first thing they gave me was Reglan. I felt a quick warm feeling, then my heart started racing. I passed out briefly twice and wanted to run out of the room. I could barely breathe. My jaws were shaking, and I kept wanting to get out of the bed. They gave me Benadryl, and I’m sensitive to it, so I argued my way for them to only administer 1/4 of it. They also gave me 800 mg of Tylenol. They did a CT scan, and I was still twitching. The reaction lasted almost 2 hours. I ended up falling asleep 4 hours later and slept all day the next day... Definitely an experience I never want to have again."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I’m pregnant and went to the ER for nausea. They gave me fluids and then gave me Reglan in the IV. I immediately felt an overwhelming feeling of anxiety. A few minutes later, I had them take the IV out. I felt antsy and couldn’t sit still. Didn’t click that it was from the Reglan since I have a history of anxiety and don’t like fluids going in me. But 6 hours later, I’m home, anxious, restless, shaking, foot, and irritated. So I googled the medicine and sure enough everyone here is having a similar experience. Don’t recommend, definite anxiety inducer. Hope it goes away. The reviews saying they still have it from one dose are scaring me."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I had a bad reaction, I was experiencing akathisia and other movement disorders. It stopped nausea at 10 mg 3x daily. It also made it so I could not sleep and was constantly moving or shaking. Shuffling around. Obvious movement disorders. Went to the hospital, was given 3 more drugs to help with side effects. Now it's out of my system. I can give it a 2 for nausea reduction. Other than that, it was counterproductive."
