For Nausea/Vomiting "As most of the reviews listed here, this drug is awful. I had nausea and vomiting for several days and was given a Maxolon injection. Twenty minutes later, I had a panic attack. Never had one prior in my life. Eighteen months later, I’m still suffering from anxiety and depression and on medication to combat these conditions. Avoid this drug at all costs."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "I was in the ER for severe migraine/vertigo, and I was scared to take any sedatives because I am so sensitive, including to Benadryl. Unluckily, I got the doctor who treated me like garbage and was so impatient; he wouldn't even let me explain myself. He was just asking what I wanted... So he suggested Reglan instead of Benadryl. Two minutes after, I was becoming frantic; I had to pee and was ready to rip the IV out. Then the nurse tells me the doc wants me to do a urine test. Haha. I started tripping out, worst hallucinations/panic attack. I felt like I was coming in and out of reality/blackout every two seconds. I finally fell asleep and overheard the doctor wanted to wake me up to do a psychiatric evaluation due to my reaction."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed this in the hospital for extreme nausea at 10 weeks pregnant. Took for a few days. Had panic attacks, restlessness, started punching walls, body constantly shaking, felt like I was going crazy. I would prefer to be sick than to ever go through this again. It is horrifying."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this medication while I was in the ER with food poisoning. It made me feel like I was crawling out of my skin with anxiety. It was like having the worst panic attack ever that I couldn't escape. My heart was racing, and I felt like I was going to die. The nurse came in and gave me some Benadryl, saying that reaction sometimes occurs with that medication. It made me go to sleep, and it was such a relief."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "Given in IV emergency room for headache. Not aware of the medicine nor explained to me, I was left in a hallway awaiting imaging. My body's immediate response to Reglan was something moving in my veins and a crazy urge to get out! My head and thoughts were no longer mine. This was not the worst part. The worst part is that they didn't tell me what medicine I was given nor explained that this was a 'normal' thing that this med does. The most horrible thing is that this has been years ago, and I still live with panic and anxiety since. No longer trusting my mind or body, afraid to drive, can't be left alone, some days are okay, but I'm not the same person anymore."

For Migraine "I've been hospitalized for migraines many times, even extreme vomiting during pregnancy, and given Reglan + Benadryl through IV. Every time I've been given this combo through an IV, it triggered a panic attack to the point I wanted to rip my IV out myself and run out of the hospital. It made my heart rate increase, and I needed an EKG to ensure I wasn't experiencing a heart attack during my pregnancy at about 22 weeks. I suffer from anxiety and quickly learned I do not react well to this combo. Thankfully, explaining my experience, my nurse decided to do Benadryl first and slowly release the Reglan as a slow drip every 10 mins. Didn't have as severe of a panic attack this time around. If you suffer from anxiety or panic, please let them know and ask for it slowly - as given too quick may cause severe panic."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this drug in the ER because I was puking and having pain in my stomach, it was the scariest experience of my life. As soon as the medicine was injected into me, I felt like I was in another world. I genuinely thought I was going to die. I had an extreme panic attack. They gave me morphine too, so a few minutes later I fell asleep, and when I woke up, I was okay. But I’ll never take this again, I made them put it on my allergy list."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "I had the most horrendous experience with Reglan for migraine. I’ve never had a migraine bad enough to go to the ER, but I couldn’t kick this one. I wish I was well enough to look up each ingredient before I let them administer the drugs to me. The second I received the Reglan dose, I immediately felt a crushing, awful, crawling-out-of-my-skin weird feeling. I had to pull my mask down and started having a panic attack. Reality felt completely warped. I wanted to pull the IV out, I couldn’t hold still, even though they told me that holding still would make it go away faster: umm, not true. No one told me the potential side effects of this medication. I felt like I was dying, my legs were shaking, I was so restless and hopeless. The nurses kept saying it would go away after a few minutes, of course, it didn’t. After 30 minutes of this nightmare, they finally gave me Ativan for anxiety, and it helped. Stay away from Reglan!"

Metoclopramide for Migraine "Went to the ER for a horrible migraine that would not go away. Doctor gave me a 'migraine cocktail,' and Reglan was part of it. THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! I honestly feel like I have some PTSD symptoms from this experience. Gave me through IV and instantly started to have a panic attack. I felt so restless, like my bones wanted to jump out of my skin, couldn’t get comfortable, had to repeatedly get out of my bed and pace the room, this combined with dizziness was horrible. My heart rate also skyrocketed to 140 and stayed in that range all night according to my Fitbit. Two weeks after the ER visit, every time I stood up or did any type of activity, my heart would go to 160-180. I ended up back in the ER 4 times after this experience because of my heart. I’ve never had heart problems before taking this medication! It took around 2 months for me to start to feel normal again."

For Nausea/Vomiting "My daughter had a horrible panic/anxiety attack after she took her Prozac with metoclopramide. The interaction between this drug and the antidepressant caused it. She had mentioned she is taking Prozac, but the nurse and doctor did not know this could result in the most horrific panic attack. The drug by itself might be good, but combined is horrible."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have taken Maxolon for morning sickness. On the two occasions I have taken this medication, I had an extreme reaction within 10 minutes. Racing heart, extreme anxiety, restlessness - I have experienced a panic attack that day, and I am still struggling with the aftereffects. I immediately threw this medication in the bin. I began experiencing panic attacks in the third trimester of my last pregnancy. At the time, I was using Maxolon, but I had put it down to hormones. I now feel that based on how I feel now, it is more than likely that Maxolon triggered this. I now have lasting effects of panic attacks for no reason. It’s been a horrendous experience, to say the least."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "When I went to Myrtle Beach in July 2021, I had constant vomiting after eating an edible gummy and freaking out. I went to the hospital and continued to vomit and act funny, so the nurses gave me some water, then hooked me to an IV and gave me Reglan. It stopped my vomiting/queasiness, but I had the worst panic attack I ever had in my life. My heart began racing super fast, and my legs and arms and torso became insanely restless, like I needed to run around the world while throwing out my arms repeatedly. I screamed and cried hysterically. I ripped out my IV before I did that and even ripped my shirt. They injected me with Ativan, and I calmed down."

For Migraine "Having suffered a pretty rough migraine in December 2020, I took it upon myself to visit the ER in hopes of finding relief. Once triaged, I was administered an IV dose of Reglan to hopefully ease my pain. Within a minute, I told the tech still in the room that something was terribly wrong and that I needed the doctor immediately. I could feel my chest tightening and breathing becoming labored, but I didn’t understand that it was the most crippling panic attack I had ever experienced in my life. Within another minute, I was writhing in the chair they had me in (pandemic times call for fewer beds, I get it), and I could do nothing else but sob uncontrollably. The doctor came in quickly and looked distraught, telling me that she hasn’t seen that reaction personally but knew it was a potential side effect. Quote, “this is going to suck for the next half hour.” She was absolutely right. Never again."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Reglan in the E.R. via I.V. for nausea/vomiting. It caused extreme panic and agitation! I was given Benadryl to reverse the horrible reaction."
