"I have about 15 migraines/month with status migraine at least once per season. This is actually an improvement from daily incapacitating migraines. There are a lot of empty promises/side effects with migraine drugs and often not a lot of relief. Reglan for me was OK. I did not get a ton of side effects, but I found that it does help me break status migraine at home after I found it effective with the Migraine Cocktail in the ER. It's not the immediate 'out of migraine now' feeling. I find that after I take 3 or 4 doses my migraines taper off out of status within a few (2-3) days. I hate the ER, but I like to incorporate successes in my at-home routine after discussing it with my neuro. I know that feeling of wanting to rip out the IV. I'd check to see if it was being pushed with a steroid. If you had a rough time in the ER but it broke your migraine cycle, I'd talk to your doc about incorporating this in your migraine relief toolbox. It's not perfect but worth a shot."

"I was diagnosed with a migraine. Given Reglan pill and ibuprofen. Didn't really take my headache away until after I got home and time passed. I was able to take my Excedrin Migraine. Not sure Reglan worked as well as the good old standby... so no need for me to fill the prescription he also gave me. One was enough."

"Like everyone else mentions, DO NOT accept for migraine treatment! They will tell you they're giving you a migraine cocktail (Benadryl, Reglan, Toradol). I have anxiety and am prone to anxiety/panic attacks, it induced the worst anxiety attack I have ever had. Sharing this because I started shaking uncontrollably. I almost pulled the needle out of my arm. I couldn't walk when they asked me to get up for my brain scan. When I told the staff I was starting to feel anxious, they said, 'Yeah, you'll feel funny,' which is quite the understatement. I wanted to scream. I couldn't hold my arms out in front of me for the neuro exam (I had been having migraines for a week straight, so I expressed my neuro concerns). Thankfully, I survived, but I am genuinely traumatized."

"CAUTION: HORRIBLE REACTION. I was hospitalized for severe migraine. They gave me the 'migraine cocktail' which included Reglan. Wow! Where to begin? 15 or 20 minutes later, maybe, I started sweating, ripped my sweater off in front of my fiancé and the doctor, then I immediately had to go to the restroom and got diarrhea. I wanted to jump out of my skin, I felt so anxious, irritated, it was absolutely terrifying! I forgot what to say to the doctor about my symptoms and cried to my fiancé that I wanted to leave immediately but couldn't. I will NEVER take Reglan again. I am so bewildered that this happened to me and other patients. DO NOT TAKE!"

"Same as the other bad reviews. Impulse to rip out IV and run. Restless but had to stay in the hospital bed. Flighty, uncomfortable. Worse than the migraine. I am bipolar and on meds, and they gave it to me anyway. After getting it, I remembered that I had that experience before once. I put it on my list of allergies now. NEVER AGAIN. Luckily, only lasted about an hour. Worst hour of my life."

"Dr. ordered me IV with Reglan and Benadryl last night at ER. After over 48 hours of misery, I immediately got relief. I don't understand people who are saying they felt like they were coming out of their skin - I passed out almost immediately (which was great because I have only been able to sleep about 3 hours over the 48-hour period before ER). Guess we are all different. I will say that I got a solid 8 hours of pain relief and finally sleep, but now it's back :( We are having lots of winter storms here, so maybe something to do with the air pressure or something? IDK, but this sucks."

"The urgent care center gave me a shot of Reglan and Toradol in my backside and Benadryl. The meds burned going in, but within 20 minutes, my migraine had subsided. Went home, slept. Next morning, woke up, got ready, feeling groggy, my chest was tight. I went to work and felt jittery, nauseous, dizzy, then later I got very hot, cold, and sweaty. Then I turned white as a sheet and got full body tremors. I had to be picked up from work and brought back to urgent care. Got to urgent care and they gave me Ativan and said I had an anxiety attack. The only thing that was different in my body/life was the fact that my migraine was now gone and was treated with those drugs. I'm not totally discounting the fact that I had an anxiety attack. In fact, it makes total sense the way I was feeling, but I definitely believe this drug triggered something unholy and terrifying to happen in my body. It did get rid of my migraine (which was the reason I needed it), I am grateful for that, but I was not aware of any adverse effects."

"Yesterday, I went to the ER because of a migraine and blurred vision. The doctor ordered Morphine, Toradol, and Reglan through my IV. The nurse pushed the Reglan really slow, but I still felt restless. It's like a feeling of being trapped in your body with it trying to jump out. As soon as I told the nurse what I was feeling, she told the doctor, and he treated me with Benadryl through my IV, and it stopped the feeling. After that, I was drowsy, and my body started to relax, and I was able to fall asleep. I will say that the migraine went away and my vision got better. I hope this helps someone."

"They gave me a migraine cocktail as well in the ER with Reglan and Benadryl, and I was fine at first. Then when I went home, it started, my jaw felt like it was swollen, and I bled for days when I used the bathroom and lost weight. It does feel like something is so wrong with me, and they need to take this medicine off the market for sure. I had to warm up some Pedialyte and drink it just to get some electrolytes back, and my throat feels like it's on fire. Next time, I will search the side effects and read how people respond to the medicine."

"Went to the ER like everyone who posted and experienced the same panic attack. I even felt like I had icy hot on my chest and belly. Luckily for me, I had a great nurse who immediately knew what I was going through and stayed by my side. It did help my headache, but I will never do it again."

"Man, do I wish I looked it up on here before the doctor just gave it to me for a terrible migraine. I also got the migraine cocktail, but the doctor never mentioned to me that it could cause the feeling I was about to have. One of the worst feelings in the world, like your skin is crawling and a terrible anxiety attack with it. Wanted to rip the IV out and run out of the hospital type feeling. I definitely do not recommend Reglan!! Worst experience at the hospital I’ve ever had."

"Horrible. Two days after I hit my head on a chair after rising from fixing a printer cable, ice, pain, radiating, vision affected, so I went to the ER where they did a head CT scan, blood, etc. They decided probably a migraine. Nurse asks if I want something for a headache. Reglan. 'Yes' without me asking about the side effects! She also insisted on a full bag of saline. I tried but then tore off the finger thing, couldn't tear out the IV. Nurse turns out my lights, closes the door, and goes away while I complain of severe stomach distress, in the most uncomfortable position ever without a way of calling for help. Twenty minutes later she peeks in, I scream to take my IV out! I leave without my reports. The next seven hours like a living nightmare! Waves of intestinal spasms all night long, like a bacterial infection from traveling to a third world country. I wanted to go to the ER but couldn't even drive. Never again."

"Was given IV of Reglan/Benadryl. Immediately started to feel anxious and wanted to rip out the IV to run out of the hospital. It has been 3 hours, and I have calmed down. Hoping I don’t have any long-lasting problems like many have reported. Will report back in a few days."

"I have had a migraine for a week and went to the ER. They gave me IV Benadryl and Reglan. After about an hour, they came in to check on me. I don't remember this, but they said I said the headache was gone. Now, 5 weeks later, I still have the headache and I'm afraid to go back. Do not let them give you this cocktail, as I don't remember anything. Who knows what could have been done to me while I was out of it? I will never let them give me this medication again."

"PLEASE do NOT take Reglan. I am posting this experience from over 4 years ago from my reaction to Reglan. That’s how impactful my reaction was to me. I suffer from migraines, and I go to the ER whenever it’s really bad. I happened to go to a new hospital one night because I was out of town when a migraine hit me. They gave me some sort of migraine cocktail but with Reglan (which I’ve never had before). As soon as it was pushed through the IV, I IMMEDIATELY started coughing uncontrollably, felt a cold rush going down my throat, and extreme weight on my chest. I then began to hallucinate while looking around the room, I felt like I was going insane. When I looked at the door in front of me, all I could see were swirls just everywhere, I can’t even explain what I was seeing. My whole body started to shake uncontrollably, only letting up for a few seconds before starting again. I then had extreme memory loss when asked simple questions from the techs!! I am scarred for life."

"Given in IV emergency room for headache. Not aware of the medicine nor explained to me, I was left in a hallway awaiting imaging. My body's immediate response to Reglan was something moving in my veins and a crazy urge to get out! My head and thoughts were no longer mine. This was not the worst part. The worst part is that they didn't tell me what medicine I was given nor explained that this was a 'normal' thing that this med does. The most horrible thing is that this has been years ago, and I still live with panic and anxiety since. No longer trusting my mind or body, afraid to drive, can't be left alone, some days are okay, but I'm not the same person anymore."

"I was in the ER for severe migraine/vertigo, and I was scared to take any sedatives because I am so sensitive, including to Benadryl. Unluckily, I got the doctor who treated me like garbage and was so impatient; he wouldn't even let me explain myself. He was just asking what I wanted... So he suggested Reglan instead of Benadryl. Two minutes after, I was becoming frantic; I had to pee and was ready to rip the IV out. Then the nurse tells me the doc wants me to do a urine test. Haha. I started tripping out, worst hallucinations/panic attack. I felt like I was coming in and out of reality/blackout every two seconds. I finally fell asleep and overheard the doctor wanted to wake me up to do a psychiatric evaluation due to my reaction."

"After about a week of headaches and migraines with no relief despite taking every treatment I had available, I went to the ER. The doctor mentioned Reglan as a treatment option, and I accepted. I got Reglan in an IV, and a few minutes later, I just started to feel very anxious. Everything just felt very urgent, and I felt very restless. My face also started to feel hot. I also was alone during this visit, which I'm sure didn't help. I also suffer from anxiety, so it just increased my usual symptoms. My migraine relief was only so-so; it came back the next day. Reglan might be a good option for you if your migraine is really bad, but be careful because it can make you really anxious."

"I went in for a migraine and nausea. Long story short, I was given fluids and was doing okay until the nurse put Reglan in. I used to drink and know what a buzz feels like, which is what I would describe as the first feeling, and then from there until it finally started gradually wearing off (which I could not tell when it started wearing off), the only way I can describe my physical/mental state was as if I was being hit with a bunch of G's at once, heart rate skyrocketed, panicky feeling, and a lot of ticklish feeling in my chest area and body, and it was all I could do to get myself through however long it lasted. The nurses/doctor said some have good reactions and some people, not so much. I definitely did not react well and will be putting that on my chart to NEVER GIVE ME AGAIN. It was like trying a street drug and then waiting it out. My mom said it scared her seeing me like that. I do not know how this drug is EVEN AVAILABLE to give people."

"Entered ER with a severe, debilitating headache. Presented doctor with headache journal and list of medications prescribed over the past 1-1/2 years. I was offered Benadryl/Renga cocktail. Never heard of this combination before, and since my BP was high, I had a CT without contrast. Point is, it did NOT work, and after 4+ hours, I knew the medical staff was not interested in compassionate care that is effective, and we agreed I would leave. It would have been helpful to have an explanation of this cocktail in greater detail so I could have found this forum and reviewed similar posts prior to acceptance."

"I ended up going to the ER because of a several-day migraine and was given this plus Benadryl and a steroid. I've been to the ER once before for a week-long migraine, and the nurse asked what I was given. I told them the last time I was given something that made me shiver and shake uncontrollably for 20-30 minutes. He said that's the Reglan, but at this particular hospital, they like to put it through the IV as a drip slowly; not fast, as pushing it through a syringe into the patient's system can cause the reaction I had before. I did not shake or shiver like before; with the cocktail of meds, I became very sleepy and my muscles felt loose and dozed for a little while. Much better reaction than before!!!"

"I had the most horrendous experience with Reglan for migraine. I’ve never had a migraine bad enough to go to the ER, but I couldn’t kick this one. I wish I was well enough to look up each ingredient before I let them administer the drugs to me. The second I received the Reglan dose, I immediately felt a crushing, awful, crawling-out-of-my-skin weird feeling. I had to pull my mask down and started having a panic attack. Reality felt completely warped. I wanted to pull the IV out, I couldn’t hold still, even though they told me that holding still would make it go away faster: umm, not true. No one told me the potential side effects of this medication. I felt like I was dying, my legs were shaking, I was so restless and hopeless. The nurses kept saying it would go away after a few minutes, of course, it didn’t. After 30 minutes of this nightmare, they finally gave me Ativan for anxiety, and it helped. Stay away from Reglan!"

"Went to the ER for a horrible migraine that would not go away. Doctor gave me a 'migraine cocktail,' and Reglan was part of it. THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! I honestly feel like I have some PTSD symptoms from this experience. Gave me through IV and instantly started to have a panic attack. I felt so restless, like my bones wanted to jump out of my skin, couldn’t get comfortable, had to repeatedly get out of my bed and pace the room, this combined with dizziness was horrible. My heart rate also skyrocketed to 140 and stayed in that range all night according to my Fitbit. Two weeks after the ER visit, every time I stood up or did any type of activity, my heart would go to 160-180. I ended up back in the ER 4 times after this experience because of my heart. I’ve never had heart problems before taking this medication! It took around 2 months for me to start to feel normal again."

"Went to urgent care last night after having a migraine for 4 days, they immediately gave me a migraine cocktail including Reglan. I will say the cocktail knocked out the migraine very quickly, but almost as quickly, I got a horrible feeling of anxiety, doom, like I HAD to get out of there NOW. I wanted to crawl out of my own skin. I probably should have said something to the doctor, but I just wanted to leave so badly that I didn't say anything. Exactly like others have described, I was incredibly anxious, felt like I needed to get up and run, couldn't hold still. I'm here at home the next day, and the side effects still haven't worn off. I'm hoping they will soon because this is miserable. However, I will say the migraine cocktail worked like a charm on the headache itself, and I'm incredibly grateful for that."

"How do they give this out without asking about mental health? I am bipolar, and after 5 minutes of having a Reglan IV in my arm, my mood changed, and it felt like I was in some depressive manic episode. I wanted to leave the hospital, and I was tweaking in the bed. I couldn’t stop crying and begged the nurse to help me. More Benadryl put me to sleep, but for 10 minutes, I was in a nightmare."
