Metoclopramide for GERD "Took it for 3 days and had a severe anxiety attack. Went from being so sleepy to extremely anxious. Acted so strange my kids asked if I had been drinking! Felt much better within 24 hours of stopping. If you suffer from depression/anxiety, don't take this."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Reglan pre-surgery last month. My daughter was with me and warned me that she had a bad experience with the drug; made her anxious and weird feeling. The nurse said that the chances of me experiencing any symptoms were very low, so I went ahead and let her administer it to me. Bad decision! The side effects were horrifying. I felt the need to leave the hospital and felt super anxious. Luckily, they were able to rinse out with saline, and the effects subsided. If my daughter wasn't with me to explain, I would have thought I was losing my mind! Never again!"

Metoclopramide for Migraine "So just last night, I went to the hospital for a virus accompanied by a migraine. The doctor decides to give me a Benadryl and a shot of Reglan. 3 to 5 minutes after the Reglan has set in (I know it was the Reglan because I take Benadryl no problem), I go into a full-blown panic attack. I have this complete sense of dread. I felt as though if I didn't get out of my own skin, or just that hospital, I felt I was going to die then and there. I honestly don't think actually dying will be as bad a feeling as this. I ripped out my IV, there was blood flinging everywhere along with the fluids that were dripping in. The doctor runs in, yells at me, then goes out and slams the door behind him, which totally intensified my panic, and I ran out of the hospital. The whole way home, I just kept thinking I wouldn't survive to see my kids again. It felt like an hour drive, and it was literally 5 minutes. Never again."

For Gastroparesis "This instantly cleared up my issues with my stomach not emptying and associated diarrhea with undigested food. I still take it occasionally when I feel food sitting heavily and have not had any side effects at all."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "I shared the same feeling of panic after receiving an IV push of Reglan. I never had panic disorder before, but now I can’t get rid of it. I really want to get the COVID vaccine, but this experience is really making me nervous. Has anyone else who had this reaction received it?"

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I’m shocked to see so many people had bad reactions! I have severe vomiting at the beginning of my pregnancy with my twins. I had lost 20 pounds in a matter of weeks and was totally unable to keep anything down. Eventually, I was taken to the ER because I lost consciousness due to dehydration. They first gave me Reglan at the emergency room, and it worked wonders. I was on it until about 16 weeks and was able to start eating and drinking and have had a healthy pregnancy since. I had no side effects other than it making me a little sleepy."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER because I was extremely dehydrated due to vomiting in my pregnancy. I was given Reglan through an IV. Within minutes, I felt jittery, and despite how sick I was, I couldn't sit down. They then gave me Benadryl through my IV, which knocked me out. The ER doc released me with a script for Reglan and told me I wouldn't have the 'jittery' side effects with the pill like I did through the IV. I took Reglan 4 times a day as prescribed for 5 days. In those 5 days, I have never in my life felt so miserable. I was sweating, had a fever, became jaundiced, hallucinated, and quit my job. I never felt so sick in all my life. Today is day one without Reglan, and it is a night and day difference in how I feel off the medicine. I don't recommend this drug!"

Metoclopramide for Gastroparesis "I'm on Reglan right now for gastroparesis, and it's working great for my stomach. I am shaking a lot more and have restlessness, especially in my legs. Also feeling a little more tense sometimes, but it's really helping with my stomach. Guess you have to weigh the effects vs. what it's helping."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I have ulcers, and I have a lot of nausea associated with them. I take a 10 mg pill, and in most cases, break it in half, and the nausea is gone. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to kick in, but it works."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I can't express enough how distressing this drug was for me. About 2 hours later, I experienced what I thought was restless legs. I felt really anxious and hot and had heart palpitations. This then turned into severe akathisia, which is the most distressing thing I have ever gone through. It felt like every part of me was having a panic attack, but my legs, buttocks, and pelvis were the worst. Could not sit down, had to keep pacing around. As soon as I tried to stand still and sit, it felt like absolute torture because the only relief I got was having to constantly move my body and strain my muscles. I was so scared and felt like I was going crazy. This happened to me twice, the second time was with a different medicine, which apparently had the same ingredients, but it was under a different name. I was given 2 Valiums just to settle what felt like an absolute nightmare. I’m sure for most it’s probably fine, unfortunately for me, it was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "I was given this in an IV (along with Benadryl) in the ER when I had a horrible migraine. The nurse said it would make me tired when she gave it to me at 4 pm. Well, I was tired for about 3 min., then the 'fun' began. Like the other poster, I started to feel extremely anxious. I kept tossing and turning in the bed because I felt like I wanted to crawl out of my skin. I had to wait for 2 IV bags to finish before they would let me leave. When I got home, I was exhausted but at the same time could not sit still to save my life. I had that 'wanting to crawl out of my skin' feeling all night as I paced the house exhausted. I was finally able to fall asleep at 5 am. The next day I was really shaky and still a little bit anxious."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "11/2/21 I had a terrible migraine, went to ER, they gave me a cocktail for migraines. I wasn’t told the side effects. As soon as the Reglan, Benadryl, Toradol was put in my IV… It was the worst anxiety I’ve ever felt. I instantly wanted it out of my system. A day later and still anxious. I would rather have a terrible headache than those meds any day."

Metoclopramide for Gastroparesis "I use metoclopramide for mild gastroparesis flare-ups, as I've had type 1 diabetes for 27 years. It works wonders on moving food through my stomach! The only side effect I've had is tiredness after taking it, but it doesn't hit me all the time. When I take it before I eat, I don't vomit or experience nausea. This is especially great since I love salad, and I can't eat it without metoclopramide. Great drug! :-)"

Metoclopramide for Migraine "I went to the ER for extreme neck and head pain. They said they were going to treat me with a headache cocktail. The nurse shot 3 medicines in me quickly. The first was Reglan. Immediately after she put this in my IV, I felt an intense pressure in my chest and I could barely breathe. I began to feel so restless and jittery. I wanted to jump up and rip the IV out and run. I tried to lay there and calm down, but I felt terrible intense anxiety and worried I was going to die. I felt panic like never before. I thought something was wrong with me, I'm so glad I'm not alone. I'll never agree to this medicine again, and my head still hurt when I left!"

Metoclopramide for Gastroparesis "I live with a Type 1 diabetic who developed gastroparesis 3 years ago. Our GI put him on Reglan, he was highly anxious, angry, suffered from restless leg, and was still throwing up. On the Reglan, he puked a lot, or more, and here's the kicker: it made him throw up after taking him off of the drug. The primary care we had explained how Reglan can only be used for short periods of time, and although she took him off Reglan, also be aware that he was still gonna puke till he was weaned off of it. The erythromycin he was given only gave him diarrhea, and he was still puking. They need way more research for this because the 2 options you give to these people are garbage. He didn't want surgery, but he is not gonna have a choice, this disease can't be controlled yet, and watching him suffer is out of the question."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I got prescribed Reglan for my nausea and gastroparesis, and I only need to take two or three days' worth and not the full month's worth. It works great, except for one of the minor side effects that I get every time I take it. I would recommend it to anybody who has nausea, gastroparesis, GERD."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "Due to chronic pain, I take a lot of meds to begin with. I ended up in the hospital with a severe migraine that I'd already had for a few days (among other things). Morphine wasn't helping, not even Dilaudid helped. I don't know who made the switch, but finally at the end of the second day, a nurse came in to give me the Reglan, Toradol, Benadryl combo. Oh, how I loved her after that. It burned slightly going into my IV (but Potassium burned a hell of a lot more), but that was really it. I didn't feel jittery, but it's the usual initial feeling of light-headedness and warmth. It didn't last long, and within a few minutes, my head was starting to feel better. I was surprised this worked so well."

Metoclopramide for GERD "I was supposed to take it 3x a day, after two doses, I began to experience severe side effects. My heart was racing, I couldn't sit still, I couldn't control my eyes. They were rolling around, I couldn't focus on anything. I only took two doses of the medication before I stopped, not even a full day's worth. The side effects (inability to focus my eyes) remained for over a week after I stopped taking it."

Metoclopramide for Migraine "I went to the ER for a migraine I had for three days. I was given this medicine with Benadryl. What I noticed was the nurse gave me the Benadryl first through IV, then Reglan. It worked really fast. No extra side effects. I also was given Toradol, it worked as well."

Metoclopramide for Gastroparesis "For me, Reglan was a blessing as it ended my nausea, pain, and vomiting caused by gastroparesis. I know that for some people it comes with severe side effects. I was put on it for long-term use. After reading up on it, I learned that it is recommended to be used for no longer than 12 weeks, as that is often long enough to control symptoms for the time without the risk of long-term use. If symptoms reoccur, a person can go back on it. This happened to me. I was off it and went back on it for a month, and my symptoms again improved. Also, reading the reviews, I see that some of you have been diagnosed with gastroparesis by doctors suspecting it. There are tests that can give a definitive diagnosis, so another problem is not missed."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I've been taking metoclopramide on and off for years for nausea and vomiting. Do they space you out? Sort of like a light head rush. I've still driven a car just fine on them, gone shopping, cooked dinner, etc. Some people are very dramatic, but I also understand some people may have different effects. I'd say take half and see how you get on. I don't mind the slightly spaced feeling, I've experienced a lot worse on other anti-sickness. Does it get rid of sickness? YES. What's the worst thing to ever experience? SICKNESS. So therefore, if it does the job, then thank God, eh!"

Metoclopramide for Migraine "This is not good. I thought I was leaving this world. I'm still experiencing side effects. I took it yesterday through the IV, and I got really paranoid. It was the worst feeling. It might not cause this feeling for some, but I can relate to anyone who has had a side effect from this med. If I have a headache next time, I know what not to do when I go to the ER. I thought I was the only one, but thanks to the internet, we can share our experience. I would think they were using us as lab rats. That med has weird side effects. I'm still feeling it. I took it on 9/6/2015, and today I feel jittery and can't relax. I gotta move around a lot, and I feel like taking off running. It's just the worst feeling."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "Let me tell you, these folks on here aren’t lying!!! It’s been 20 years ago, and I remember it like it was yesterday…. Didn’t even know they still allow this horrible medication! I was given this in an IV for nausea during pregnancy…. The only way I can describe this pain is like they wired my body up, plugged me into a socket, and I was getting electrocuted from the inside out! I cannot believe they give this medication out still to pregnant moms and their babies who can’t let them know how this feels. It’s truly chemical torture!"

Metoclopramide for Migraine "This is a 21-month update about my experience with Reglan IV, a one-time dose given as a 'migraine cocktail' in the ER for a migraine. Yep, in just 3 months, it will be two years since I have gotten this awful medication. I STILL have issues from what Reglan did to me. It is not uncommon for people to have tardive dyskinesia or akathisia from Reglan. I got akathisia. For many, the symptoms of akathisia go away in an hour or a few days. (Tardive dyskinesia, on the other hand, can be permanent. In fact, like I said, I got akathisia, not tardive dyskinesia.) Anyway, in many cases, the akathisia subsides. But, it can hang on for some. I was one of those unfortunate people. There is a support group on Facebook called the Reglan Support Group for people who have had a harder time recovering from the injury of this drug. I had acute symptoms for 4 months. It was as bad as people describe akathisia on here. The next several months, the symptoms were moderate. This drug had destroyed my life."

Metoclopramide for Nausea/Vomiting "I was in the emergency room for a kidney stone and was given a couple of medications in my IV. I told the nurse that I was becoming very nauseous and needed something to prevent myself from vomiting. She came back with a syringe and thought it was Zofran. The nurse began pushing the medication and said that she was administering Reglan. About 2 minutes later, my chest felt extremely tight, I couldn't stop moving my legs or hold still. I had an extreme urge to rip my IV out and run... and run... and run... I had a feeling of anxiety unlike anything I have ever felt before. It wasn't your typical 'butterflies', this was like I wanted to escape my skin or just end it all right there. I would much rather be dead than to feel the way Reglan felt."
