"About 20 years ago, a room started spinning and I couldn't even stand up by holding onto something. Two people had to almost carry me home; but I felt fine, just dizzy. I'd also start to get nauseous suddenly, like people do in planes or car rides. Only because my father had the same thing, did I finally realize I had Meniere's Disease, so I'd take meclizine and be fine within an hour, but before I realized what I had, I was eating lots of salty things that increase inner ear pressure. For hours, I could only crawl around: too dizzy. More wisdom: I'd suddenly black out for one second, and fall: there are many drugs you cannot take with (more than the essential) meclizine! I could have died ten times before I learned that; but otherwise, neither my father nor I had any trouble. I never even went to a doctor and had no idea how much one can learn online! I rarely need it now, and when I do, it gives sound sleep and good dreams!"

"I am a 40-year-plus veteran of bilateral Meniere's. Meclizine is one of the tools I use to manage it during active periods. I also use restricted sodium intake, staying well hydrated, and when necessary, trips to the doctor for intratympanic steroid injections in whichever ear is currently acting up. The main positive attribute of meclizine for me is that it solely addresses my symptoms. Most of the other treatments are based upon someone's theory of what causes Meniere's. All these theories are speculative at best and hence hit and miss because there is no clear consensus as to what causes Meniere's. Some things work for a while and then they don't. But with meclizine, it doesn't matter because its value is purely symptomatic. This makes it probably the most reliable tool in my Meniere's arsenal. The only other thing I would add is that it is critical for me to take it as soon as the first hint of symptoms begin. This seems to improve meclizine's likely effectiveness."
