"I am going to leave a sort of middle-of-the-road review, as there are pros and cons. I have Crohn's and have had a colonoscopy at least every three years since I was diagnosed at 17. I am 72 now, so that's a lot of preps. I have had trouble over the years getting the liquid prep down to stay; the golytely gallon jug type is kind of viscous like spit, and the others are horrible tasting. I would get about half down and then start throwing up. So when I was offered the pills I jumped at it. I followed the procedure and it worked. However, the process took much longer for me with many more trips to the bathroom. I got 2 hours of sleep last night at most. One caution: AFTER the procedure, don't forget to rehydrate. We had an hour drive home and I fell asleep. When we got home I ate lunch and forgot that the doctor said Sutab stays in your system for a while. I felt very lousy for a couple of hours with a return of purging. Not sure which prep I will choose next time."

"Took initial dose of the 12 tabs with 16 oz. water, which was the exact amount needed to swallow the pills. Pills went down fine, thought all was well until about 5 minutes later extreme nausea followed by violent vomiting (as in have no voice left from retching, was not prescribed any Zofran or other anti-nausea). Called on-call physician to see if I should even take the next 12 tabs and she recommended doing 5 capfuls of Miralax powder in place of the pills that were immediately rejected. The directions stated voiding could take 1 or 5-6 hours and at 5 hours still no movement. Will edit after full (hopefully successful prep)."

"Sutab was so much easier than drinking that horrible-tasting liquid. I planned for this about 4 days ahead, avoiding any hard-to-digest foods, no wheat, no beef, and no raw vegetables. I also drank more than usual. Started the prep at 6:30 PM. I was concerned about getting 12 tablets down, but that went easy and drinking water was a pleasure. I used a straw; not sure if that helped, but I got it all down easily. It started working about 1 1/2 hours later, gently at first. I was back and forth several times, then at about 9:15 PM, there was an explosive reaction. I barely made it the six feet to the bathroom. There were a few more episodes, not as violent as the first, so I stayed seated, afraid to get up. When the going stopped, I got a couple of hours of sleep before starting the next 12 tablets. The second set of tablets was as easy as the first. The next few episodes got clearer each time and finally yellow liquid. The doctor said I was clean. Success! And no puking. I HIGHLY recommend Sutab."

"I was given a choice of liquid or tablet. I chose the Sutab. The doctor said to eat my normal diet until noon the day before the colonoscopy and make sure I drink a lot of clear liquids. I panicked a bit when I saw the size of the tablets, but they went down easily. I spaced out the first 12 tablets in 15-20 minutes, followed by 32 oz of water. I felt a little queasy for about 10 minutes, but it passed. The second dose was just as easy. They worked in 2 hours after the first tablets. The doctor said the prep was perfect. I would do this prep again."

"I have lost track of how many bowel preps I’ve done at this point, but compared to the salty drink I had during my first colonoscopy when I was 16, I was excited when I was told they have pills for the prep for my surgery tomorrow. I literally just had to do this for a colonoscopy 2 months ago and had to drink one of the liquids, so I am unfortunately a frequent flyer when it comes to these. I don’t remember what time I took the doses - I honestly just estimated the times I was supposed to take them based on my check-in time in the early morning. Took me about 90 seconds to take all 12 pills each time. I love water, so drinking water all day (plus bone broth for protein) was also easy. No cramps, nausea, or any other adverse side effects. Been peeing out of my rear end and it’s now yellow (that’s the sign you’re ready)."

"I have issues with slow motility and was concerned that this wasn't going to work. I didn't do the 3-day diet prep because I forgot about it. I started the first dose at 6 pm and followed the directions. Nothing by 10 pm except a lot of bloating and some nausea, took two additional Dulcolax. Started watery elimination. I figured I should have started the second dose earlier, so I started at 1 am. Honestly, I will do the regular prep the next time. My co-pay was a little pricey, and I don't like the bloating and nausea."

"This was my fourth colonoscopy prep. All the others were awful because of the copious amounts of liquid I had to drink. 20 years ago, the prep barely worked, and I was up all night with cramps. The pills are great. I took the first dose at 4 pm. I swallowed all of them in 1 minute. I had one soft stool. Then, 2 hours after the pills, at 6 pm, pure liquid came out. No cramping. Lasted until about 8:30 pm. Was able to sleep without any problems. Started again at 4 am. I felt a little nauscious drinking my last 16 oz of water, but slowed down, burped, and was fine. Eruptions began at 5 am. But not that much left. I hope I will be done by 7:30 when I go to the doctor. I agree with using cream on your bottom and Tucks, which sting. I probably should have drank more during the day."

"This is my second time using this prep. Like others, I do believe it's about pre-prepping days ahead. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! I also took Zofran an hour before starting the 1st round at 6 pm and another Zofran at midnight to start the 2nd round. I did feel some bloating, but it wasn't horrible. For me, personally, the tablets are far better than the liquid. I had hiatal hernia surgery a few months back, and I'm unable to consume such large amounts of liquid at one time. Everyone's body is different, so if the liquid prep is a no-go for you, please give this a shot. To find cancer or any other serious medical issues is well worth the anxiety that goes along with the prep."

"Fasted the day prior to taking the prep. Followed directions for the 1st dose. Got a severe stomach ache after 1 hour of taking the 12th pill. Took 1 1/2 hours to start the bowel clearing. Stomach ache subsided after a couple of hours. No issues sleeping. Reduced 2nd dose to 8 pills. Worked perfectly, no stomach ache on 2nd dose. Final bowel movement was clear liquid. *** 2nd Colonoscopy: This is a much better choice than the liquid prep. Would certainly use again.***"

"Excellent outcome using Sutab for prep. Personal experience, results may vary. Day before, had eggs, toast, and bacon for breakfast at 8 am, fasting began after that. Prescribed Zofran to take with my prep. I chose not to take it unless necessary, and it was not. Later that day took round 1 of the pills at 5 pm. Round 2 started at 6 am the day of the colonoscopy, for an 11 am procedure. The pills were not hard to swallow (and I suck at taking pills). No major nausea, no bloating, no vomiting. Definitely felt off, but that is to be expected when you shock purge your digestive system from top to bottom. Prep took about an hour to start working, couple trips to the bathroom after each round. Nothing was urgent or uncontrollable. My blood pressure was elevated in recovery, and I was given IV fluids to resolve. I thought I drank enough extra fluid to stay hydrated, but I was wrong. The physician said the prep was very good and that my colon was free of any issues."

"Best colonoscopy prep I’ve ever used. No cramps, only mild nausea taking the 2nd dose. Did not have the urgency to run to the bathroom like other preps. 5 days before procedure on a low residue diet, then clear liquid diet the day before. Insurance didn’t cover it, but the doctor’s office gave me a coupon. The $50 was well worth it."

"Took Sutab to prepare for my colonoscopy on Friday. The good: VERY easy to take, no bigger than a multivitamin and has no flavor; just have to drink it with lots of water, which you should be having anyway. I was prescribed Zofran (anti-nausea) and took one tablet 1 1/2 hours before I started, didn't have any problem with nausea, vomiting, or cramps. Took about 2 1/2 hours to kick in; I was fully evacuated by about 8 hours later. The bad: It didn't clean me out as completely as the Miralax prep I did 10 years prior. Still had little bits of residue coming out right before my colonoscopy. Doctor noted that my prep was 'acceptable' but remarked that there was still fecal matter present. I followed the instructions to the letter, so that's on the Sutab, I guess. Bottom (ha ha) line: Sutab did well enough for me, but the Miralax prep cleaned me out better. If you use Sutab, start a low-residue diet starting 5 days before, get some anti-nausea meds and hydrate!!"

"It’s a colonoscopy prep. It’s no fun, but Sutab makes it a heck of a lot easier. 3rd colonoscopy, first with Sutab. Took the pills, drank the water, no cramping, no nausea, over by 10 pm. Slept well, had the colonoscopy, back to normal the same day. Way better than liquid preps. Highly recommend. Heard a lot of the people at the facility who were also having colonoscopies saying the same thing."

"I never cared for the prep drink. I can do it without fuss, but I don't like it in the least, and up until recently, wasn't aware of any other alternative. After getting the Sutab, I came online to read all the horrible reviews here, so I was questioning if I shouldn't have just gone with the drink again. So glad I didn't. Starting 3 days before the procedure, I started a low-fiber/residue diet and stayed well hydrated. Had absolutely zero issues with the first 12 Sutab pills, I even took them rather quickly (less than 5 min for all 12 and the water). Within an hour, they started to work and was 'cleansed out' about 4 hours after starting them. For the second dose, I had read that I wasn't supposed to take them so quickly, so I set a timer and took one every 2 min. The 16 oz of water was perfect for taking all 12, followed up with the additional 32 oz as directed, and had zero issues: no bloating, no cramping, no nausea. It's the most pleasant experience I can imagine for what it is."

"I’ve had 7 colonoscopies, starting when I was 27 (2 the first year, and then every 3 years). I always have tubal adenomas. I was going to stop doing colonoscopies due to how awful the preps are, about intolerable. For the most recent colonoscopy last week, I demanded Sutab, and after some back and forth was given the script. By far the “best” prep I’ve had with the best results. I wasn’t able to finish 3 of the first bottle tabs, and I couldn’t finish 1 of the second bottle tabs. I still had an excellent prep noted on my colonoscopy, and it was far better tolerated in the way that I didn’t have to drink slimy fluids. I felt less dehydrated than previous preps, and a weird side effect was it really flushed out my bladder/kidneys, and I have less urinary urgency since."

"One of the worst experiences I've ever had. The stomach cramps were debilitating and I expected to get sick. I was sick all night and the day of the colonoscopy. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone."

"Began to work almost immediately when you finish the 16 ounces of water with the pills, so be close to the bathroom. It gave me a slight nauseous feeling and some mild belching and minimal stomach cramps that passed quickly. It was so much better than prepping with Gatorade (gag me). The only drawback is my colonoscopy was scheduled for 7 am, so my second dose began at 1 am. I was so exhausted from no sleep. I would recommend Sutab."
