Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "My daughter is 8 years old and has been taking medicine since she was almost 4. She has been on a lot of different medicines. I am just wondering if her sudden outburst of happy, sad, violent behavior is due to the doctors increasing her Vyvanse from 20 mg to start with 1 year ago to 70 mg, which is what she is taking today."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I'm 19 and had taken Concerta successfully since I was 14, but being in college, I needed a medication that would last longer than Concerta did. My symptoms have never been very bad, but definitely affected my work. My psychiatrist suggested Vyvanse, but it was hell. It worked about the same as Concerta, but it would wear off after about 6 hours, and I would collapse on the floor sobbing. Every night, I would become extremely suicidal and angry, and after just two weeks, my relationships with everyone were at a breaking point. I went back to Concerta, and now take a small dose of Ritalin when it wears off. So much better."

For ADHD "My 16-year-old son has been taking this for a number of years. If I had known then what I know now, he would never have gone on them. They have changed his personality. He doesn't interact with anyone, he gets extremely angry and aggressive. He was once a happy little boy. I would not recommend this medication, it leads to more diagnoses and problems. It has ruined my last few years."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "I don't like this drug, yes, it’s like meth. I lost a childhood best friend of 36 years to this poison. For 5 years she’s been on it. She went to 90 mg a day, then crashing at noon, so an Adderall booster was prescribed to her in the afternoons, all within a year. She developed antisocial behavior, agoraphobia, apathy, rabbit hole syndrome, spending addiction, drank alcohol like a fish, lost a ton of weight, and much more. Slowly she stopped calling, texting, and literally dropped me and everyone but immediate family. It’s been almost a year since we’ve spoken. I had drug addict parents and a sibling, and I know the signs. I miss her deeply, and my hope and prayer is that she finds a way to rid herself of this drug before it destroys her life completely. She’s tried to stop but gains so much weight, and the withdrawals are horrible she said, and so she starts it again. I don’t recognize my friend anymore, I’m very sad. Stimulants should be only for true ADHD/ADD-not weight loss or grades."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "This drug ruins lives. It causes moodiness, angry outbursts, and paranoia. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the beast, the individuals don't see themselves as moody, unhappy, or angry. Despite the claims, it is not non-addictive, and it does cause addiction in some individuals. I've seen it in kids and adults. If you are using it for your kids, I don't judge you (because medication can be life-changing and necessary for functioning), just monitor emotional/social side effects. I hope it works well for some people, but I've seen it cause so much turmoil."

Lisdexamfetamine for ADHD "My 7-year-old son started Vyvanse about 3 weeks ago. The first day he took a 30 mg dose, which made him like a zombie all day and absolutely manic all night. He literally stayed up all night and ran up and down the hall and talked incessantly. At the end of my rope at 7 am, I paged his doctor. We lowered the dose to 15 mg. He seemed initially to do better on the 15 mg and was doing well in school. He became more aggressive and started having OCD behaviors of constantly washing his hands (I counted 30 times in an hour) and crying and staying up all night. Last night he stayed up until 4:30 am, and I was at my wits' end. So today his doctor is switching him to another medication, but we may try it in a combination."
