For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Saxenda at the end of June 2017. My doctor started me at 0.6 mg, and every week I went up until I finally reached 3.0 mg. I still have episodes of extreme tiredness and lethargy, not to mention the nausea. But it is not consistent and therefore bearable. I have lost 25 pounds thus far with no exercise; I have plateaued now, but my doctor assured me if I introduce exercise, I will lose more. The weird thing for me is that I have no appetite or desire to eat animal protein - most days I have to force myself."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I waited 18 months to review. I started 09/2017. The first 6 months I lost 8 lbs, from 198 lbs to 190 lbs (5'8). 3 mg. The side effects were all there: diarrhea, nausea, lethargy, nausea, vomiting, nausea. Did I mention nausea? In 0/2018, I stopped eating meat and meat products and went on a plant-based diet. After one particularly side-effect day, I lowered the dosage back to .06, and I did not inject every day. I thought if I wasn't losing weight, why stay sick? From Feb until 07/2018, I lost 12 more lbs. I had a hysterectomy in 07/2018. I have started eating meat, but my appetite has slowed down. To date, I've lost a total of 30 lbs in 13 months, down to 168 lbs. Size 10, 31' waist, and 4 lbs from not being considered 'overweight.' I had to do something to get things moving. When I made that change, I went from size 14 to a 10. I still only inject .06 a day, I don't inject every day. I still tend to get nauseated, but it only lasts for about 5 minutes, and I keep gum near my bed, which helps."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been taking this medication for about a week, and for the first two days, I vomited so much and couldn't eat, I lost 8 lbs. The headache was horrible, and I couldn't get out of bed, let alone function. By day 3, I'm not vomiting, but the key for me is to take it at night so I don't feel nauseous. I get a milder headache, and I can taste the medicine now. It also makes me very tired, so waking up early is a problem for me now."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Saxenda on 4/28/17 at the recommendation of my doctor for weight loss. I have kept at the 0.6 mg dosage and will not increase weekly, rather every 14 days or so. I am tired and weak, extremely thirsty, my appetite is nonexistent. I try to stay within 800-1000 calories a day, but some days are harder than others to reach this goal. I have found if I have any carbs, it makes me extremely nauseous and dizzy, I can no longer tolerate dairy, it makes me very sick to my stomach and gives me a terrible stomach ache. Constipation comes and goes. But so far, as of today, 5/7/17, I am down 8.5 lbs. I mostly snack all day on healthy fruits and veggies and have a small salad with chicken as my 'big' meal. I will add 30-45 mins of walking a few times a week."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "First time taking Saxenda, no problems. Increased dosage as stated, lost 8 lbs in a month. Two years later, got a new Saxenda pen, have been violently sick, felt ill, and extremely tired every day. Now I am covered in a rash, even on my eyelids, short of breath, pale, sickly, burning sensation. I took it for 2 weeks, stopped 2 days ago, and feel like death. No clear help anywhere on what to do, how long it takes to get out of your system. There's a COVID epidemic, can't get into doctors. Feel really silly I didn't click on straight away that the pen was making me sick, I thought I had food poisoning. Then I took a COVID test and got a negative result, thank God. But that's how ill I've been, I actually thought I had COVID."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Saxenda now for one week and lost 15 pounds. I never in my life had my appetite go away. Ever since I have been on Saxenda, I do not get hungry, and I cannot even force myself to eat. I got on the scale after 3 months from being at the doctor, and I could not believe my eyes. I lost that much weight. I am happy, and I am going to reach my goal of 40 lbs. The worst side effect I had was tiredness. I am always tired, but I am hoping to overcome this soon. If not, I can deal with this for another 2 months until I reach my goal. I would suggest this medicine to anyone that is obese and needs help. This will definitely help with appetite."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on this medication for about 5 weeks. I am down 22 pounds. I take it at night as I feel nauseous on it at times. I am not hungry but feel sick when I need to eat, so I force myself to have something small to feel better. I have bouts of nausea, heartburn, and exhaustion. I think the benefits outweigh the cons, so I keep taking it daily."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been on Saxenda for eight days so far to help me lose weight. I just upped my dosage from 0.6 to 1.2 mg, and I can honestly say I've only had one day of NOT feeling nauseous and extremely tired, with an ever-present vile metallic taste in my mouth. It's been very difficult to function, so I would think twice before trying this drug if you have a demanding lifestyle. I've stuck to a fairly healthy diet-calorie controlled, fairly low fat, with a wide range of foods but small portions and no eating after 7 pm and LOTS of water. Weight loss has been slow but acceptable, and I am going to stick to as low a dose as possible, as I am convinced my tiredness and nausea can only get worse on the higher doses. You really have to try hard to re-educate yourself on how to eat on any diet, and this medication is no exception, so pooping after overeating, as one user has reported, doesn't surprise me."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Saxenda on October 3, 2017. I'm a 58-year-old female weighing 327 lbs. I inject in the evening before bedtime. No nausea, but have had mild headaches which don't last long. I do find that I'm more tired in the evening (considering I'm a night owl). The doctor has placed me on a 2100-calorie diet, which I'm trying to follow, however, like others, I don't have much of an appetite, so I nibble approximately every 2-3 hours on items that are on my list to eat. I don't plan on weighing myself until my next doctor appointment on November 14. Exercise is difficult with my osteoarthritis, but I plan on doing some low impact and gradually increasing. Will provide an update after my doctor appointment."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Victoza last week. So far, it has caused me to be nauseous and throwing up. I don't know about weight loss yet, but my glucose levels are still high even though my appetite is gone. I can't hardly eat anything because everything has a horrible taste now. I have bad diarrhea since taking this medicine. I also stay thirsty, so I drink lots of water. I have no energy, and I have lots of dizziness. I hope the bad side effects go away, but I hope the loss of appetite stays because I need to lose about 100 pounds."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Tried this over a 3-month period so I could review as honestly as possible. The first 2 weeks, great, lost 6 pounds. As soon as I increased the dose to 2.4, crippling pain in my stomach, CONSTANT nausea. Was never sick, but often constipated. Dropped the dose back down and still terrible stomach cramps. In the end, had to drop it down to 0.8, which just didn’t do enough to curb hunger, just felt the same as when I wasn’t taking it. All in all, for me this didn’t work. The fatigue and tiredness were one of the worst things I’ve experienced. Absolutely no energy, not one bit. Trying to work and go to the gym, walk the dogs was the worst battle ever. And that was for the whole 3 months. Also, rapid heart rate, I wear an Apple Watch and my resting heart rate went up by 15 bpm on average. I would get a tight chest too. For me, not worth it! Back to the drawing board and padlocking the fridge lol."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I just started the medication this week. I've had three shots so far. I was really worried about the needles, but you honestly don't feel a thing. I didn't even feel a pinch when I did the injection. I do feel a bit tired. I have a very dull headache. I do have a little bit of nausea. I have been injecting in my upper thigh, where there's plenty of fat. (Lol). My appetite has decreased, so I have to keep an eye on my emotional eating. I am a former gastric bypass patient trying to lose the last 30 pounds. The first hundred were easy. So far, so good."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "This is a great medication. I finished the sample pack that my doctor gave me, and I'm down about 8 pounds. I was really looking forward to having the prescription filled... but my insurance doesn't cover it. Even with a discount card from Saxenda, it would have cost over $900. This doesn't make sense! The only side effects I've experienced were a little bit of nausea, heartburn, and feeling a little more tired than usual. The weight loss had already made me feel better, so it was worth it. I have a follow-up in a few days and am anxious to talk with my doctor about what I can do to continue on this medication. Good luck to all of you, and I'm so glad your insurance covers Saxenda!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started on September 1st, so today is 14 days. When I started ~ female, 5'2", 230. I have lost somewhere between 10 and 12 pounds. I have NO appetite!! I have to make myself eat. The first week I had the sick belly, but that's all gone now, and the only thing I'm dealing with is tired!! I'm so tired I'm having a hard time getting through the day. I think I will move my dose to dinner time and see if that helps. Good luck, y'all!!!!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am just shy of a month and just upped today to 2.4 dosage. In the beginning, 6 days or so, I had bad nausea, some vomiting, and constipation. I almost stopped but just stayed in the .6 for an extra week, and I have been a bit more tired, but the other side effects have gone away. It has drastically curbed my appetite, and I just weighed myself and I am down 12.4 pounds and feeling very good. I am making better food choices as I get full after eating about 1/3 of what I used to, which was big portions and seconds. I have also bumped up my activity and averaging 13,000 plus steps and 100 plus active zone minutes on my Fitbit. I am happy so far and glad I didn’t pull the plug in the first week."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Day 1 - 0500 Morning (fasting) BS 154, injection (effortless) 0.6 dose. No side effects. Day 2 - 0530 BS 206, 0.6 dose. Nauseous all day, diarrhea all night. Day 3 - 0600 BS 168, 0.6 dose. Nauseous, but functional. Dehydrated, tired. Nausea worse by evening, very little to eat during the day. Black licorice (Wiley Wallaby Beans) ONLY thing that helped the nausea. Day 4 - 0600 BS 174, 0.6 dose. Day 5 - 0530 BS 152, 1st day increased dose to 1.2. By 6 pm, had a screaming migraine. Day 6 - 0900 BS 126. Nearly 30 hours straight migraine. Called Dr. said to go back down to the 0.6 dose tomorrow. Day 7 - 0515 BS 164, 0.6 dose, no headache and had enough energy by evening to go for my 30 min walk. Day 8 0600 BS 161 0.6 dose, nausea, diarrhea, lethargy to the max, and xero appetite. Even water tastes terrible. Day 9 - 0600 0.6 dose - Begin 72 hours of EXTREME itching head to toe. Skin feels raw, sunburned, my throat, eyes itchy, swollen. Day 11 - Depression. $300 in unused pens."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started 02/20/17 with a sample from the Dr. office. My insurance covered it, but I still have to pay $100 for a month's supply and $30 for the needles. I take the shots at night to reduce the side effects. The only time I feel queasy is the morning after I up my dose. I just upped it to 2.4, next week I'll be on the full dose of 3. I am a lot more tired more often. I sleep great at night. I have been able to skip breakfast and supper and not go to bed hungry. I can't eat as much in one sitting either, I get full a lot quicker. So far I've lost 6 lbs, but I think this will work great since I'm not hungry very often. My problem is sweets, and I don't crave them anymore. (They still taste good if I eat them!) Will update again."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Victoza 1.8 for many years. Until recent blood work showed everything screwed up. When I went to my GP, he told me the medication is basically killing me. It's making me lethargic, slowing down my metabolism, I am gaining weight, and my body chemistry is dysfunctional. He ordered me to stop Victoza, it's been a few days, I am still blah. Time will tell."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Been using Victoza a year now with my dose going from 0.6 to now 1.8. My side effects are mild morning nausea after having my Victoza shot the prior evening. I have lost 15 lb initially, nothing more, and I eat mostly at lunch because I have little appetite at night. My A1C staying at about 7.6 and my blood sugars 155-175 each morning. The doctor is OK with those higher numbers for me. I am tired and out of sorts a lot while taking Victoza."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Saxenda because 4 or 5 years after my sleeve surgery, I started gaining weight back, and I didn't like that. I am now three weeks in and on the full dose. I get nauseous but not to the point of vomiting. I feel very tired during the day after a full night's sleep of 8 or more hours. I'm not sure if this is a side effect of Saxenda or not because I seemed to be tired a lot before the medication. Since I do feel very nauseous on the full dose, I am thinking about decreasing my dose back down to the first dose. I don't eat much at all with this medication. By 'don't eat much,' I mean maybe 4 to 5 small bites of something, and I am so full. I love that side effect of the medication. No constipation, not as much as before the medication. I did get diarrhea maybe 3 times in the last three weeks."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started taking Victoza .06 for a week, then supposed to go up to 1.2. No problems other than slight nausea the first three nights. Lost 9 pounds in 4 days. Originally at Dr. I weighed 154 lb, then five days later was 145 lb. I don’t think I can keep dropping weight like this. I take it at 8 pm every night. In the morning, here were my wake-up blood readings: first day 107-118 - 63-49. These last two numbers scare the hell out of me, need to call the doctor Monday, cause on Tuesday the 29th I’m supposed to go to 1.2. Oh, and do have a little heartburn and feel tired."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started the medication 7/21. I had to change taking it at nighttime as I was so tired and nauseous. I'm so disappointed as I'm the only one who is not losing weight. 5'2'', 222 lb. I have all the side effects of the medication (nauseous, tired, slight headache (gone now), and no appetite). Overall, I eat pretty healthy and not a lot, so I don't understand why no weight loss (I'm eating even less now). I am female, 54, so menopause and thyroid issues are not helping, but I was so hopeful. Anyone else not have success? The medication is pricey, and the side effects for not working... I go up to the 3.0 dose Friday... still hoping."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking Saxenda on July 1, 2015. I am down 14.5 pounds. Occasional nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, and tiredness. Does not affect everyday activities. Appetite down. Overall feeling good. Dosing - I started at 0.6 and am now up to 1.2. Would like to lose another 20 pounds."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I'm a 27-year-old female, and I've been taking Saxenda for two months now. At the beginning, the weight loss was rapid, but there were severe side effects: mainly nausea and constipation, but also dry mouth and tiredness. Now it's all gone, though. You should know-it's not a wonder drug. True, I've lost 24 lbs (11 kg) in 2 months, but I really pay attention to what I eat and go to the gym 3 times a week. You still need to do the work. What Saxenda does: now your work will finally have results, which makes it much easier to keep going. By the way, I'm only using the 1.8 because my doctor told me to try to avoid using 3 dosages until I really need it. When you reach the 'plateau phase' and stop losing weight, that's the time to increase the dosage."
