For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been on Victoza for weight loss for approx 6 weeks. I was started on 0.6 the first week, 1.2 the second, and 1.8 the third. I had a touch of nausea the first two weeks but found that if I ate a small snack (carrot, apple) the nausea went away. I've lost 18 pounds so far and I feel great."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "After 3 weeks I’m down 12 lbs and increasing the dose each week, to now at the 2.4 mg dosage. Will talk to my Dr. about staying on this dose for a while rather than increase to highest (3.0) as I’d hate to top out so early and see results also top out. I had slight nausea the first day after a dose increase, but other than that no side effects, and some changes in bowel function but nothing terrible. Very happy with results so far and can’t wait to see further results."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started Saxenda on 02/26/2020 at 0.06. No nausea, mild constipation, but still able to go. No headaches. I have no desire for food, but I know I have to eat. So I eat regularly. Breakfast (eggs and a slice of bread with a water bottle and about 4 oz of OJ). For lunch, it's usually rice and chicken (about 1 cup and 1/2 of rice and chicken is 2 oz, give or take). Throughout the day while at work, I drink about 10 8 oz glasses of water and do 10 flights of steps, 5 days a week. For dinner, 1/2 of rice, and whatever meat I have made for the night, about 2 oz, and more water. I would have a small snack, but it's just because it's the norm for me. Tomorrow, 03/04/2020, I am going to start on the next dosage up to see if there will be a difference. So far, I have only lost 1 lb. Started at 228.8, now I am 227.8. Thighs are a little sore, and I take the medicine at night. So far, so good. Will update."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started Victoza for weight loss in July 2017. Weight 240 at 5'8'. Female, age 50. No diabetes but borderline A1C of 5.7. Obese and very physically active (long-distance bicycle tours and commutes) since just after college. Initial side effects of nausea, fatigue, and burping subsided after 2 weeks. After 6 months, I had lost 40+ pounds, so I was under 200 lbs for the first time since college. Often had to remind myself to eat. I found that simple carbs in the morning sabotaged the meds. Doctor put me on metformin for additional appetite control. After trying different doses and types, what works for me is 1.8 Victoza in the morning and 500 mg metformin ER with each meal. Lost another 10 lbs. For the past year, my weight has fluctuated from 187-194. It's amazing to not be hungry and not be obese. I'm still 20 lbs overweight, but A1C down consistently to 5.4 and lipids much better (I also take a statin)."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Victoza 8 days ago. When I started Victoza, I weighed 212 lbs. So far, I have lost 10 lbs, and I didn't even exercise. I did feel nauseous for the first 2 days, and constipated. Also, I have no appetite."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "My 4th day on 0.6 mg dose of Saxenda. I am 61 and 215 lbs and hypothyroid and started Synthroid a few days before Saxenda. I was gaining weight gradually every year for the last 10 years without explanation except for menopause and aging. I was nauseous the first day and was unable to eat, except a bit at suppertime. Not hungry at all. I feel so much better now (4th day) even if I hardly have an appetite. I can still enjoy my glass of wine. I lost 4 lbs in 4 days. I am super excited and grateful to have help with my weight loss. I will post again later."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Just finished my first week at 0.6 and was quite ill all week. Headache and nausea being the main symptoms along with mild fever and lack of energy... But I'm down 7 lbs! No wonder though, I hardly ate. I'm a little nervous about upping the dose to 1.2 tomorrow as I'm just starting to feel better, but I'll give it a shot. If I find it's too much too quick, I will go back to 0.6 for a while longer until my body can tolerate it more. Even though I was sick, the 7 lbs lost in that first week was worth it and gave me that boost I needed. I feel motivated now."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started with Bydureon at first for about a month and started having lumps at the injection sites, so the doctor switched me to Victoza. For the first 2 weeks, I had a lot of nausea but after that, it leveled out, and I started feeling great. So after 3 months, I have lost 52 pounds! My appetite has decreased, and for the first time, I can eat a small portion and feel full. No more cravings immediately after I finish eating. I love this medication. My blood sugar levels have been between 89-94."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am 37 years old, 5'5'. My starting weight on September 20, 2018, was 233.7 lbs. I have had 3 femoral and tibial osteotomies over the last 3 years. This has made exercise very difficult and extremely painful. Hence the recommendation of Victoza by my physician and surgeon. Since starting 8 days ago at 0.6 mg, I have lost 11.5 lbs, bringing me to 222.2 lbs. I increased to 1.2 mg yesterday. I feel very successful. Symptoms-They haven't been unmanageable but sometimes more noticeable than others. Dry mouth, weird feeling tongue, nausea, heartburn, and lack of appetite. But, I've found peppermint tea helps with all of the symptoms. I'm going to keep going to reach my goal of 80 lbs lost."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on 0.6 ml of Victoza for 7 days now to control my type 2 diabetes. The first 5 days were hellacious, to say the least! I had debilitating nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and those horrible sulfur burps and gas that ran everyone away from me and sent me to the ER, thinking my insides were deteriorating! LOL! But by day 6, the side effects subsided. I lost 10 lbs within the first 3 days. Tomorrow, I have to increase the dosage, but I'm praying that I won't have to deal with the side effects again. So far, so good."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have lost a total of 62 lbs and still counting. I have been using Saxenda for 8 months. I work out daily to keep my body toned with muscle. The side effects in the beginning were horrible, which included vomiting, nausea, constipation, and no energy. After I reached the highest dose, it all went away. I feel great, and I'm enjoying my results. Hang in there, it gets better!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started trial of Victoza from Dr. He wanted to check side effects before prescribing Saxenda. Lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks. BUT, insurance denied coverage for Saxenda, so back to Dr. Second request for authorization and gave me another trial of Victoza. Insurance denied Saxenda again. I registered for the Saxenda prescription savings card and today went to my pharmacy, $1021!!!! Talking to the pharmacist, he recommended getting a script for Victoza because insurance likes the price. Approved, and my copay is $25! I do get nausea when I increase the dose, it doesn't last. Dry mouth bad first few weeks but helped me be motivated to drink water. Diarrhea, yes, rotating with constipation. Food doesn't appeal to me. Often don't eat dinner or just a few bites. LOT of fatigue. Heartburn mild but I think it's because I forget to eat and my stomach is empty. BOTTOM LINE.... love this for weight loss. Side effects aren't permanent. I'm losing weight. BEST part? I figured out how to get insurance coverage!!!!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Victoza for 3 weeks. I started at 0.6 and increased every 7 days. I've lost 17 lbs thus far. Not eating much. I was nauseous in the beginning, but it wears off. I can't eat more than 1 cup of food without feeling miserably full. I have no desire to overeat at all. So far, so good. Hoping I don't plateau. I am still making good food choices and exercising regularly. Sugars were maintained on Metformin before starting, so I'm hoping to go off Metformin by October. Praying I don't get pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, or worse."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Had a great experience with Victoza. Really helps with blood sugar along with Metformin. First few weeks were rough, very nauseated. I stuck with it and very slowly increased my dose from 0.6 to 1.2 every time I felt up to it. Lost 40 pounds over 8 months. Blood sugar in the 90s in the morning. I find it easier to eat a low-carb diet when I am not that hungry."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am a prediabetic with glucose at 109 fasting. I am taking Victoza to lose weight and not become a full-fledged diabetic. After trying Byetta, which made me sick and not lose weight, my endocrinologist prescribed Victoza on July 2nd. I have lost 6 pounds, eat only when I need to, eat foods that are better for me, and have NO NAUSEA at all. In 3 weeks, I have already bumped up to 1.8mg a day. I love this medicine and will stay on it until I go from my current 180 to 125."

For Type 2 Diabetes "For me, Victoza was a life-changing drug. For decades, I struggled with unexplained hunger and weight gain. I had every possible test done. Finally, after tests showed a slightly elevated A1c, I suggested to my doctor that we try Victoza. And it worked. Yes, there was nausea, but the medication actually worked better the longer I was on it. I attribute this to the loss of appetite, after several months, I no longer experienced the raging hunger I once did. I admit that nausea continues to be a problem (and the only side effect), so I’ll try decreasing Victoza to 1.2, then 0.6 if that doesn’t work. Despite the nausea, the drug has been well worth it for me. I finally feel like myself again. I guess what I’m saying is, “Don’t lose hope!”"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am using Victoza for about 6 weeks, and it's a magic medicine. I am taking 0.6 every morning, and my appetite is under control. I am really watching my diet, and healthy controlled portions helped me to lose 14 kg in 6 weeks. I am facing the side effects of nausea and dizziness, but it's worth facing them because I am really fed up with my weight problem. I don't have to use insulin injections anymore, and my sugar levels are between 115-140 fasting and 160-190 after meals. I will continue with Victoza."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Saxenda in November 2016, the week before Thanksgiving. It is January 31, 2017. I am 5' 1" and when I started Saxenda I weighed 205 lbs. I now weigh 178 lbs. I have been able to come off of my blood pressure meds and I no longer need my CPAP when I sleep at night. I have less joint pain and I no longer get winded walking up a flight of stairs. The only side effects I've experienced are nausea with each titration up of the medication, mild headache the first few weeks, nasty sulfur burps, and diarrhea. I haven't had any constipation. None of the side effects were severe enough to make me consider stopping the medication."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Victoza for 3 months now. I am a type 2 diabetic with poor control. Victoza has steadily increased and I am at 1.8. I am slightly overweight but since starting Victoza, I have dropped 15 pounds. I did drop all this weight in the first month and have not lost any weight since. I did find the first month to be a little difficult with nausea and headaches. My fasting blood sugar levels have gone from the 150s down to the 90s, and I'm very happy with this! I am really hoping this will work long term!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started on Saxenda mid-December 2016. So far, I have lost more than 20 lbs. My back pain disappeared, my knee and joint pain disappeared. I am extremely excited with the success so far. If my insurance would not have covered, I would have considered paying for it myself. It was time to take care of me. The side effects so far have been nausea, but nothing that was too intolerable in comparison to the positive outcome. I often have to remind myself to eat. I am up to 2.4, which I decided myself, as I felt I was starting to feel hungry again. I am down to under 1200 calories per day, which is a significant change for me. I have trained myself to sit down and have breakfast at home, which is also a positive change. I am excited for the future."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "4th UPDATE UPDATE. I have now been on Saxenda since Feb 19th at 208 lbs, and on July 23rd, 173 lbs, current dose of 2.4. I have lost a total of thirty-five lbs in 154 days!!! I am at a standstill but still losing gradually! Always better than gaining. I still eat no more than 1,200 calories a day, most days about 900 calories. I watch my fat and carb intake but not too closely. I will be going up to 3.0 in August. I am super proud!!! My goal weight is 160, so only 13 more lbs to go!! Started at a goal of 48 lbs and now down to 13! How exciting is that! Get past the first few days of feeling nauseated and tired and it's worth it!! Also, coupons on the website will save you a ton of money!!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Saxenda for 10 days and am following the dosing exactly as prescribed, so I am 3 days into 1.2. Insurance covered most of the cost. I haven't experienced nausea, burping, or any of the other symptoms I have seen described. But I have a complete loss of appetite. I am 53 years old, female, 5 feet 2 inches, and started at 179 pounds. When I weighed myself a few days ago, I was down to 172. I have, however, experienced a sadness over the complete loss of joy in eating. I don't know if that makes sense, but it is a struggle for me. I can't even imagine eating chocolate, soda, or anything 'bad' for you."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I love Victoza! In just 8 weeks my A1c has gone from 8.2 to 6.4. I can't wait to see what it is after the full 90 days. For the most part, the side effects pretty much subsided after the first month. As long as I eat properly, I feel really good. If I eat something I shouldn't, especially something fatty, it makes me nauseous. Processed foods do not taste good at all. I find myself actually craving healthier foods like plain chicken and vegetables and steering clear of things with sauces or heavily flavored foods. I am seldom hungry and now eat approximately half of what I used to eat. Blood sugar levels have improved, and in ten weeks, I have lost 30 pounds."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started Saxenda 9 days ago today, initially weighed 301.2, and I'm down to 291.2 lbs, so ten pounds! I am so excited, I've been to the gym 5 times this week, eating less than 1200 calories a day, and have had no desire for sweets or sugary sodas, which were my two main vices. I am really happy with my results thus far. I have been lucky to not have any major side effects: some random stings at the injection site, slight constipation, and maybe 10 seconds of nausea here and there. I just increased to the 1.2 dosage... ready to see where this will take me."

I have large red bumps that get hot and itchy at the injection site, severe fatigue, headaches, and sometimes nausea. I have not been able to increase my dose higher than 1.8 because the side effects are so hard right now. Does anyone else have the red spots on the injection sites?"
