For Diabetes, Type 2 "Levemir has helped me keep my glucose numbers between 87-135 most of the time. If I forget to watch what I'm eating, it may go up to 150-165. I have not had any notable side effects. The shot is very easy and quick to do."

For Diabetes, Type 1 "Person is on Levemir and Novolog. Acute care gave it in the morning. When discharged, no one, including the endocrinologist, told him to move it to dinner or bedtime. It has been virtually impossible to get his blood sugars into any normal range. The endocrinologist did not want to put him on twice daily shots because of the overlap and potential for hypoglycemia. BGM readings were never sufficient to tell us what was going on. It was not until he went on Dexcom G7 CGM that we understood; the Levemir 25 units was only active for 19 hours. If given in the AM, with the Novolog, he would have severe lows by 4 in the afternoon. If given at 2 PM in the afternoon, he got enough coverage overnight but needed Novolog at 8:00 AM in the morning. Now, Novo Nordisk has announced that they will stop making Levemir for the US market. It is no longer on Medicare D formularies - nor is the Novolog (Besaglar/FIASP). Hope it will be better."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "The Levemir has been effective with controlling my diabetes. I have had to increase dosage over time. I used the FlexTouch pen for over ten years and am very satisfied. I have now used my second 90-day prescription of the FlexPen (about 6 to 7 boxes, 35 pens). The Flex pens are much more difficult to use. I cannot hold it still with one hand like I could with the FlexTouch. I have bent a lot more needles, and that hurts and bleeds. During my last visit, I asked the doctor to please not prescribe the FlexPen any longer, and he agreed when he heard my problems. But now I read that the FlexTouch is being discontinued. If I cannot get the FlexTouch, I will be looking for other options. I think standard needles and vials will be easier to use. I DO NOT LIKE THE FLEXPEN. The FlexTouch is spring-loaded and pushes the medicine, whereas the FlexPen requires hand muscle strength to push the medicine. I still have reasonable strength at 74, but many people my age and older cannot effectively operate the FlexPen."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "The new Levemir FlexPen is a mess to use. The strength required to operate the plunger at the end is prohibitive for those of us with less strength in our hand. It's difficult to operate. It is beyond me why you would release a product that is more difficult to operate than the previous pen. The drug is effective but the pen is a mess!"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "The FlexPen is much more difficult to use than the FlexTouch pen. When insulin is administered in larger volumes, the pen is hard to push, and many times the needle comes out, requiring more sticks to deliver the set dose. In addition, the FlexPen was discontinued back in 2014 because the design did not work well in larger doses as the part to push extends outward, making it more difficult to push with the thumb. Unfortunately, this is a major downgrade."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "The new Flexpen is cheap! Its design is now more painful and so awkward to use! It leaves more bruises and wastes insulin. It's clear that whoever designed this is not a diabetic who has had the privilege of shooting themselves up multiple times a day to live! It's also clear that Nordisk does not care about its users who are forced to use insulin to live! Bring back the FlexTouch!"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "The FlexPen is hard to use, and since I have been using it, my reading has gone up from 98 to the 160s. It seems like I am not getting the right amount of insulin from the Flexpen. The instructions for the Flexpen do not show the other two numbers that extend out from the top. It is very hard to push, and even harder when the needle is in the skin. It is easy to push in the air when not injected into the skin. It hurts and leaves bruises. It seems like with all the complaints about the Flexpen, the company would do something about it. The Levemir medication with the FlexTouch was wonderful and easy to use. I would recommend the Levemir with the FlexTouch pen, but not the Flexpen."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Levemir FlexPen is a slow-moving, hard-to-push, poorly-designed pen that is so difficult to use that I know I’m not getting my full dosage! I changed years ago from Lantus slow-moving insulin pen to Levemir FlexTouch because it dispenses the insulin so quickly that I felt no pain. I will not continue to use this cheap Levemir FlexPen! They evidentally forgot to test it on real users. Poor marketing decision."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "My husband has been using Levemir for 13 years. I am a registered nurse and have been giving him his daily injections since the beginning. The new pen is absolutely awful. The pen is awkward to hold. The plunger is hard to depress. It's difficult, if not impossible, to tell when the dose is complete. It actually hurts the muscles in my hand to use it because the dosing plunger sticks out so far in the back and is so difficult to push. And because it is so hard to manipulate, it is impossible to hold it still during the injection. I'm sure it is even worse for patients who self-administer their insulin. This is the most un-user-friendly medication delivery system I have encountered in my 30+ years of nursing. If Novo Nordisk has any compassion for or interest in the people who must use Levemir, the company will abandon this inadequate piece of junk and go back to the former pen immediately. The new pen can reduce the effectiveness of a fine medication by compromising dosing."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I take 130 units twice a day. I have to pull the plunger at least three times for my amount 60 + 60+10. It is hard to do with one needle tip without pulling out or bending and it hurts my skin. I am very disappointed in this switch and will be looking for a different medication. I rate it a zero."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I have been a type 2 Diabetic for several years now. I have been on Levemir for a few years the first pen the Flex touch was so easy to use. I absolutely HATE the new Levemir Flex pen they came out with. You not only have to use both of your hands to get the darn thing to plunge you almost need to borrow someone else's too. I have had the needle on more than one occasion actually bend when it comes out causing me to bleed because you have to push so hard on the pen to dispense the insulin. I called the company to complain. Whoever invented the new pen is obviously NOT a Diabetic. Go back to the original style please this new style pen is junk!"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "What a mistake it has been to take a pen that was designed to inject insulin into the body in a controlled method free of pain. Then replace the “touch” with this flex pen that was not even good enough in 2018. The flex pen does not dispense insulin well. Using this pen leaves bruises, causes blood loss, and leaks dosage insulin on skin. It is a pen that makes injecting insulin a real pain in the place you inject. Bring back the pen we all loved to use."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Have been using Levemir for years. The new plunger type pens require a great deal of force, often requiring both hands to dispense the insulin. The result ranges from increased bruising, bleeding and painful welts to needles bending during injection. Very unsatisfied with this product."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "The pens used to be easy to use and quick to dispense. In order to save money, it appears that the manufacturers have modified the original design, and made the pens more difficult to use. They require much more pressure to dispense the medication and take longer to do so."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I have been using levemir for years and have been pleased with the results. Since they have changed to the flex pen I hate it. The flex touch was so easy to administer the insulin. Now I have to use both hands, push as hard as I can and it comes out so slow. It is so hard to push the insulin in it wiggles and leaves bruising. If the flex touch doesn’t become available again I am going to switch medication I used to rate it 10. Now it is 1"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "The new Levemir Flex Pens are extremely disappointing. So much harder to use than the Flex Touch. Having essential tremors makes dispensing almost an impossibility. Frustrating! This change is such a downgrade. The tensile strength of the Flex Pen when taking off the needle is questionable. Hard to unscrew the needle....seems that the upper dispenser will snap. Please Levemir....change back to the Flex Touch!!"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I now have to use the Levemir FlexPen. It is the cheapest thing I have been forced to use. They say the FlexTouch is discontinued. FlexPen is taller, skinnier, and harder to manage. It stops mid-delivery. It causes my needle to pull out, and I have to start over. The insulin is OK, the FlexPen is cheap and poorly designed. No stars from me for a rating."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "This comment is about the new Flexpen by Levemir that replaced the Flextouch pen. The new pen is cheaply made. Everything mechanical feels cheap. Other complaints: end button hard to push, spring for injection is weak and only 60 units can be injected at a time. Please return to original Flextouch design."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Started using insulin 3 weeks ago. The flex pen is very easy to use. Works well for me. Started at 10 Units but had to reduce to 7 Units as I was waking up in the middle of the night sweating and very weak with very low sugar. The 7 Units controlled that. Only problem I have is when priming the pen it seems to shoot a fair amount of insulin in the air. I followed all the directions and feel this is a waste of insulin."
