For Birth Control "I have never had bad experiences with my period prior to Nexplanon. I was very sexually active with my boyfriend, who hated condoms (he was later dumped). Anyways, I decided to take Nexplanon because of him. My sex drive was still there, which was great. No complaints about my performance in the bedroom. I was told that for 3 to 6 months, wear pantyliners, and I experienced spotting, which was fine. So I'm having sex unprotected, no baby scares, a little spotting, but man, did I get acne. I have never had acne in my life, especially around my jawline and cheeks, so I was surprised that it happened. Also, quite a bit of weight gain. Now I'm already a bigger girl, but depriving myself of goodies and slaving 5 times a week in the gym, I should see results, but in fact, weight gain. I would recommend Nexplanon as an option and would tell you to give it time. If you don't like it after 8 months, then get it removed and tell your man to wear a condom and stop complaining."

For Birth Control "I had Nexplanon inserted in 2013, and I have an appointment to get it removed and reinserted next week as it's been 3 years! I originally got it because my period cramps were so bad that I would faint from the pain, and I had been on the pill but didn't like having to take it every day. After reading all the bad reviews, I thought I would contribute. When I first had it inserted, I had light spotting for about three weeks. I don't get my period or any spotting now - the last time I got my period was March 2014. Gaining weight was a huge concern for me when debating whether I should get it or not, but I haven't had that much weight gain - I contribute it more to my college diet but I also work out a lot. Overall, I love it and recommend it!"

For Birth Control "I first had the Implanon implanted when I was 17. I don't know if I just got lucky, but it was like a miracle for me. My boobs grew, skin cleared up. I do occasionally get a bit of spotting, but never had a full-blown period or any cramps. My mood does swing quite rapidly, but it's worth it. I have since had it replaced with another Implanon late last year, and again, not a single problem with it. I tend to be forgetful and my personal life is forever getting more chaotic, so it is good to not have to worry about remembering to take a pill every day, and it lasts three years. 10/10, would use again."

For Birth Control "I have had Nexplanon for about 2 months now, and my spotting just stopped about a week ago. Constant spotting was frustrating but worth the effectiveness against pregnancy. Lately, my problem has been extreme breast pain. Standing up even causes them to be sore. For the most part, I love Nexplanon, but some of the side effects are hard to live with. I recommend it for people who are willing to wait through side effects and see what happens after a few months. If you don't think you can handle certain side effects, then don't try it, they're too common in users. I'm going to see how I feel in a couple of months and decide whether it's right for me or not!"

For Birth Control "This month was my two-year mark of having the implant in. I have not had a full period, or used a tampon once in the last two years. I have about one, rarely two, days of very light spotting approximately once every three to four months. My fiancé always finishes inside of me, without a condom or another form of birth control, and we have never had any issues or concerns. Nexplanon definitely serves its purpose in my case. However, I have slowly gained about 30 pounds in the last two years, while eating well and exercising. I cannot get the weight off, and may get the implant out to lose weight before my wedding. Overall, I'd recommend Nexplanon as it serves its purpose. If it weren't for the weight gain, I'd get it done again."

For Birth Control "I had the implant inserted in Feb of 2015 and have had it for about 10 months now. I have had no period since then. I have not experienced any spotting or mood swings. It is so convenient. I don't have to worry about condoms, taking a pill every day, or spending money on tampons. Two of my former coworkers had gotten it before me and loved it, which convinced me to try it out. I am very happy with my choice."

For Birth Control "I'm going on my second year of this implant, and it has been great up until now. I've gained weight, but I know that with all birth control, weight gain is expected. The problem I'm facing now is that I have been spotting for about a month now, and it hasn't been red, it's been a brown, rust color (sorry to go into details, but maybe I'm not the only one). I have had this problem since I've had the implant put in. It's a great method of birth control, but the side effects are annoying!"

For Birth Control "I have had Implanon in for two years. It has been an amazing 'birth control.' I do not take very many precautions, and I have never had a pregnancy scare. I did not gain weight while being on this, I actually lost weight. The only negative effect this has had on me is my menstrual cycle. I am constantly on my period (spotting). I go several months spotting with an occasional couple of days off. I absolutely hate this effect the Implanon has on me, but it may work out better for others. Most definitely most effective as far as birth control."

For Birth Control "At first, I thought this was the best thing ever. For the first year and a half, I had rare spotting, but I gained about 15 pounds. I attributed my weight gain to my diet, but after the year and a half, the bleeding became more frequent, and I changed my diet and exercised. I'm having it taken out early (about 6 months) because I am experiencing almost constant bleeding. It's unbearable. I have gained nearly 35 pounds in two and a half years, and it's impossible to lose weight. I just keep gaining and spotting all the time. Everybody is different, but I would caution anyone planning on getting this form of birth control."

For Birth Control "I've had Implanon since January 29th of this year. I switched from the shot to this, and I absolutely LOVE it. The shot made me gain about 50 pounds (109-155) in 1 year of use. Since I have been on Implanon, I have lost 25 pounds! The only complaint I have with it is spotting. It is very light, off and on, not as annoying as a regular period. I hope it will stop soon. I definitely recommend Implanon!"

For Birth Control "I have had the Nexplanon since October 2015, and I absolutely love it. There seem to be far more horror stories than good experiences, but it has been great for me. I have only bled for about a week, this was the week after having it implanted. I have occasional spotting, but it is very, very light. I can't blame mood swings on the Nexplanon because I have had bipolar the entirety of my life. I used to have terrible cramps monthly, and now I have none. I did gain about 4 pounds, but I barely noticed. I have not been hungrier since getting it, and I've been a lot happier. I have had a much better sex life with my boyfriend since getting it, and I hope this continues. I think this method of birth control is different for every person."

For Birth Control "This was the first birth control I have ever used. I'm in my early 20s, so I thought this would be the best option. A co-worker of mine swore by it, the only thing she warned me about was slight spotting for the first month. Two weeks after getting the implant, I bled for almost a month straight! Not harmless spotting either, some days a light tampon or pad, and other days it was much heavier. I stopped bleeding for two weeks, and now I'm bleeding again for the past week. I haven't even been on this for 6 months yet, and I'm ready to get it removed. Almost every review I read says how much these women have bled. Not a fan."

For Birth Control "I got the implant inserted in mid-March of 2015 and have had slightly delayed periods. Nothing too bad, but I'm used to having my period on time every month. Before, I would always have a pretty heavy flow and horrible cramps, but since I got the implant, I've had little to no cramping and fairly light periods. The only problem is that normally I'd have my period for 4-5 days, and since the implant, I'll easily go 7-10 days. I noticed some spotting on June 16th and assumed I was having a light period since the color was the off brownish color you'd usually have towards the end of your cycle. I have now had this for 22 days, and I just started experiencing cramps and a heavier reddish flow. Has anyone else had a similar issue?"

For Birth Control "I've had problems with my periods forever. Oral contraceptives were not working for me. So, I talked with my physician about Implanon and was astounded with how painless the process was! It worked like a dream! Coming from someone who used to have cramps so severe and bleeding so extensive, this was heaven, until... the 'spotting' happened (over 7 months later). I had heavy bleeding for weeks. Yes, weeks. It would stop, and I would give it another chance. After the 3rd time this 'spotting' happened, I had enough. I had it removed. If it works for you, I am so glad."

For Birth Control "Like many of you, I was scared of the possible side effects, but decided to give the implant a try anyway. I was not on my period when I got the implant, but this didn't cause any changes in my cycle. I have been experiencing random spotting, but it has been very light. It caused me to be incredibly moody for the first three weeks, and occasionally I will have a few sensitive moments, but for the most part, my mood has leveled out. Initially, the implant did stimulate my appetite, but that has also subsided. Due to me following a healthy diet and exercising regularly, I've been successful in losing several pounds in the month and a half that I've had Nexplanon. All in all, my personal experience has been positive."

For Birth Control "I've had my implant for about 1 month. I'm 22, I've never had kids nor have I been on birth control before. The reason I got on was because I got into a serious relationship, and well, we both aren't ready for children yet. My main concerns were the weight gain, breaking out, the spotting, and the sex drive. I was weighing 140 lbs when I got it and now weigh 135. My skin has actually been looking better than usual, and the spotting I have had is very little. And the sex drive has not changed. The only negative thing I could say is that I do feel emotional and want to cry a lot more than ever. But besides that, it's great!"

For Birth Control "I got the Implanon inserted about a month ago. Three weeks after insertion, I started spotting and have been for about two to three weeks. It's very light and it is annoying, but I'm hoping it settles down within the next month or so. So far, I have had no weight gain. I had really bad mood swings for the first three to four weeks, I was crying almost every night. That has seemed to settle down, though. So far, I'd rate it a 7 out of 10. We'll see what my rate it after another month or two."

For Birth Control "I have had the implant for about 2 months now (got it at the start of May). During my experience with Implanon, it hasn't been that bad. I had very light spotting for the first couple of weeks, then it stopped so far. I get mood swings of epic proportions, but other than that, it's all kosher. My boyfriend and I don't use other contraceptives, and no babies so far. I have not gotten the bad acne, weight gain (I'm actually losing weight!), or super heavy bleeding, so I call it a success. I recommend!"

For Birth Control "My 15-year-old daughter had Nexplanon implanted 3 months ago. Best choice given she has horrible periods and a busy schedule. Since then, she has been sick several times, lost interest in a lot of things she once enjoyed, and has continued to have light spotting since the implantation. 2 months ago, she had a sudden onset of facial swelling. Then, 5 weeks ago, she started having sinus/allergy symptoms. After 3 rounds of antibiotics, a steroid plus starting allergy pill and nose spray, she has not gotten better at all. Actually seems to have gotten worse. She's miserable. She has constant cold chills, headaches, shortness of breath, restless sleep, and moodiness. She almost seems depressed. She has had spotting the entire 3 months since it was implanted. She goes Monday to get it removed."

For Birth Control "I chose this method after my body rejected 3 IUDs. I had never had a baby, but I wanted a long-term and effective method of birth control. I found this to be the best fit for me. I had great success with Depo in the past. I was on it for nearly ten years with only minimal spotting. When I did spot, I took estrogen supplements and stopped spotting in a couple of days. It didn't hurt at all when I got it. It hasn't given me any problems the whole time I had it. My only concern is what will happen when I get it taken out."

For Birth Control "I was on Lo-Loestrin for a year before switching to the implant, and it was a great decision. I was bad at remembering to take the pill at the same time every day, and I was sick of having pregnancy scares. I wanted something I wouldn't have to remember to take every day and that I didn't have to pay for out of pocket, and my insurance covered the implant. Since insertion, I have spotted pretty regularly, and when I have bled, it's been for longer than what was normal for me, but my ADHD/anxiety/depression symptoms didn't worsen, and the peace of mind is worth it. My gyno said that any spotting tends to become less frequent within a year, so I'm holding out. The warnings I've heard from other women didn't hold true for me and my body."

For Birth Control "I've been on Nexplanon for 2 months now, and was well aware of all of the adverse side effects, but like others, felt as though I was not going to be the victim of these terrible reactions. I was right for the most part. I haven't had any problem with acne, weight gain (I've lost weight, actually), or hair loss, but the bleeding, oh dear God, the bleeding... I had mine implanted during my cycle and pretty much stopped that day. I had a week menstruation-free and have had heavy spotting to moderate bleeding every day since. My gyno put me on Norethindrone 5 MG tablets once daily to stop the bleeding a week ago. After taking them for 5 days, the spotting stopped. I was overjoyed-until I started bleeding after sex last night!"

For Birth Control "There seems to be a lot more negative reviews on this than positive, but I can't recommend the Nexplanon enough! I was recommended this as I get extremely nauseous with most birth control pills and haven't experienced any since getting it. I got the implant in Oct 2014 and have had only one period since. I have gotten occasional spotting, but it's been extremely minimal (literally like a spot), and it's only been a total of three days out of nine months. I've actually lost weight and my skin has cleared up as well. I do have a suspicion that this has made me more susceptible to headaches, but they are very infrequent and manageable. I didn't think birth control would ever be this hassle-free and effective!"

For Birth Control "Recently, I had Nexplanon removed after two and a half years of having it. I had no issues with it. I think I bled/spotted a bit the first month, but after that, I never had a period, not even spotting. I was very happy with it, and the only reason I removed it was so I could get pregnant."

For Birth Control "I had Nexplanon put in October 2012. I had bleeding and spotting nonstop for an entire year. I've gained 15 lbs, and there has been no change in my diet. My skin is very oily. My hair gets very greasy. I sweat a lot now. I used to never sweat. I break out all over my face, chest, and back. I'm 25 years old, and I've never had acne. I've been super moody, to the extent that my antidepressants needed to be increased. Anxiety has gone up. It wasn't until early November 2013 that my period finally stopped. It's been 3.5 months with no bleeding. I've had almost every bad side effect, but I can't get pregnant on it."
