For Birth Control "Switched from Ortho Tri-Cyclen to Tri-Lo-Marzia because I mysteriously received a free renewal in the mail (without prescription). Weird, I know. It's been making me super tired, bloated, and depressed. I've been taking it for 5 days, and I'm going to stop taking it and see my doctor ASAP. I don't know why I got this free, unprescribed prescription in the mail, but it sucks."

For Birth Control "This was the first birth control I was put on, and it was primarily for the use of birth control but also for bad hormonal acne (I am talking those teenage years where you have so many different face washes and nothing's working, and you don't do any activity, but somehow 30 minutes after washing your face, you are a greasy mess). It definitely helped with my acne, that cleared up completely to the point I could literally almost sleep with makeup on, and there would be nothing on my face. I also swear I lost weight on this birth control. The downside, though, for my third week with the changes in drug ratio, I would get EXTREMELY depressed, like it wasn't great at all. I spent most of my emotional time on this pill balancing between I want to lay in bed and cry all day and I could really do with having sex right now. It was the weirdest thing and really not a great emotional place to be on birth control as a teenager."

For Birth Control "Before I started taking this birth control, I had the worst PMS and periods. A week before my period, I would have intensified feelings of anger and sadness. There were so many crying spells. I would get bad acne around the time of my period. My period was so bad one day I had to leave work. So, my doctor prescribed me Tri-Lo-Marzia (one of the lowest birth control dosages) in order to keep my hormones in place. After 3 months of using it, I have noticed a little weight gain and I had to go up a bra size or two. But, it has protected me from pregnancy, made my periods so much more manageable, lighter, and minimal pain. I may get one or two pimples here and there. I think it’s great. * PS: I had my own personal problems with my weight before taking this medication. I was gaining weight before the birth control. This had very little effect on my weight, but I do think it contributed to my bra size. I still would recommend!"

For Birth Control "RUN RUN RUN...... I know that everybody's bodies are different. I used to be happy before I took this birth control, and this wasn't my first either. This birth control has made me feel insecure, I overthink, I'm just depressed or angry. I actually feel like I'm going crazy while on it. I have gained 5 pounds in just 2 weeks that I have been on it, and I haven't done anything to change my habits other than my birth control. So far, I've been taking this for about a month now, and I know the doctor says you should take 3 months to get used to it, but I'm not going to sit here and do nothing while I am miserable. I have control over my own body. I'm currently contacting my doctor and switching back over to my old birth control, Sprintec, because I'd rather deal with painful cramps than suicidal tendencies."

For Birth Control "DO NOT TAKE THIS! I took this BC for a year. I was depressed off and on randomly and had heart palpitations every night and randomly during the day. I never suffered from heart palpitations. I went to a heart specialist, and they couldn't figure out what was causing them since my heart was perfectly fine. I stopped taking this pill after researching the side effects and reading the reviews. After a month of coming off of it, I slowly started feeling like myself again. It's been 6 months off, and I haven't had any heart palpitations in 6 months or any depression or sleep issues. Please be careful on this pill. I wouldn't take it, it's dangerous."

For Birth Control "I would NEVER recommend taking this pill. I started this pill in October and was fine for the first two months. The end of December through January (and it is now February 4) I have had the worst anxiety and depression. I was never anxious or depressed before this medication. I have never experienced anxiety aside from nervousness due to school stressors (normal). I now anticipate going to bed early every night to avoid feeling this way. I have also experienced headaches, nausea at night, dizziness, and a fast heart rate as well. I just threw this medication into my garbage pail this morning because of how horrible it is making me feel. Everyone reacts differently to medication, but Tri-Lo-Marzia Birth Control has made me stop taking birth control for good - I am honestly traumatized."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for almost 2 years. I have been suffering from anxiety and heart palpitations, depression, and sleep issues during this time of taking this birth control. I thought it was due to stress, but now, after reading these reviews and seeing that my symptoms are the same, I believe that my anxiety and heart palpitations are coming from this birth control. I will be getting off to see if I start feeling more normal again."

For Endometriosis "I have what’s called subcutaneous endometriosis. Basically, my endometriosis was caused by my c-sections. I was bleeding and bruising under my skin. Long story short, I had abdominal surgery to remove any cells that were up under my skin and Dr. removed the c-section “flap,” as I so lovingly called it. I had a good 2 years, endo grew back. Now trying the birth control option. This is my 4th month on this particular brand. My first 2 months were fantastic, and I slacked on the pill taking the 3rd month and had the worst, excruciating pains. The doctor told me to stick with it, so far, as long as I take the pills like I’m supposed to, all is great! My doc prescribed me Strattera for my ADD, and it has helped with anxiety and depression as well!"

For Birth Control "A year ago, my doctor prescribed this BC to help with my cystic acne. After reading all of the poor reviews online, I never ended up taking it. Fast forward to now, I'd had enough of the acne, and my doctor highly suggested I give this pill a try and not read anything online. So I tried the pill for 3 days and immediately knew I had to stop. The depression was heavy, extremely noticeable, being someone who used to be depressed and is currently in a good place. For reference, I run a business which I am very passionate about, and I literally felt the urge to walk away from it all. For the first time ever, I actually really didn't like my job at all, I could barely get myself to open the store. I knew right away that it wasn't worth it. I hate to feed the fire or to keep anyone from taking this whom it might help, but I can strongly back up all of the reviews that have mentioned depression because it is very real and can make you feel very lost overnight."

For Birth Control "I am only two weeks into my first pack, and I am horrible. This is so bad. My moods immediately shifted, and I became extremely irritable and had random sadness spells. I feel like I have gained 20 pounds, I’m not really sure how much, but I feel so heavy. I have vaginal dryness, low sex drive, and bad back pain. The only good thing that came from this so far is my skin is clearing up. I do not recommend this at all. Please take anything but this."

For Birth Control "I went on Tri-Lo-Marzia after 9 months off birth control. I was previously on Junel, and my doctor said this would reduce the side effects I felt of mood swings. Let me first say everyone’s body is different, however, this increased my mood swings and caused depression in only 3 months. I was irrational, sad, and fought with everyone in my life. Please make sure you have someone you love keeping tabs on you and being honest with you while starting any birth control pill. Consider counseling or therapy if you know you have a history of depression on hormonal contraceptives. If you’re feeling like I did, stop taking it and contact your doctor."

For Birth Control "I had been on this Tri-Lo-Marzia brand for about 3 months and a half and have decided to stop it entirely and not try any other combination pill. Originally, I was on another brand with a higher dose and had horrible physical and mental side effects that I noticed within a month or so. I switched to Tri-Lo-Marzia as it was a lower dosage of hormones and noticed within the first two months my skin cleared and boobs got bigger. It was not until the third month of taking it that I had a personal issue come up and assumed my anxiety was because of that, but it just got worse for the next four weeks. My last week on the pill has been the darkest place I’ve ever been. I experienced bad anxiety, panic attacks, and creeping symptoms of depression, which I have never had before the pill. Again, everyone’s body will react differently, but I have had such a negative experience with the pill on my mental health and do NOT feel like myself at all. I’m hoping it will leave my system quickly."

For Birth Control "Please do your research before taking this pill. I have been taking Tri-Sprintec for years, no issues. My pharmacy switched my prescription to this, and I didn’t think to do any research before taking it. After 3 days on the pill, I started having extreme depression and suicidal thoughts. I’m normally a very happy, driven individual, and this pill crippled all drive I had for life. I stopped taking it after 3 days and hope it leaves the system ASAP."

For Acne "I took Tri-Lo-Marzia for 10 months. I have PCOS, and it didn’t help my symptoms at all, and I feel like it made them even worse. Actually, my hair is falling/thinning, new body hair is growing, oilier skin. Aside from that, I felt extremely depressed all the time, and every time I started a new pack, the first week I always had raging anger. It regulated my cycle up until the last 3 months when I kept having random spotting. Then I finally switched pills."

For Birth Control "Within the first 2 weeks, I had horrible acne around my mouth, constant breast tenderness, and immediate weight gain. This was only the tip of the iceberg. As my time on Tri-Lo-Marzia increased, so did my problems. I have never been as moody as I was on Tri-Lo-Marzia, with the most intense mood swings. The depression I had while on Tri-Lo-Marzia was comparable to the depression I experienced during my parents' divorce, only 5 times worse. My final week on it led me to experience the worst migraine of my life, one that persisted for 4 days straight with no moment of peace. What ultimately led me to stop taking this pill was reaching the lowest point in my life, something I have not considered in many, many years, nonetheless seriously considered. My final night with Tri-Lo-Marzia in my system was a culmination of depression, tears, and anger as I am baffled at how a synthetic hormone could cause such havoc in my life. I took this pill for 1 month and 7 days."

For Birth Control "When I first started taking it, I was fine. I had small breakouts here and there, but after about 4 weeks went by, I started feeling really depressed. I cried over the littlest things. I kept overthinking and worrying about things. Honestly, my mood went from happy to really sad in the matter of minutes. I will not be taking this anymore. I strongly do not recommend this pill, but it might be different for you if you take it because everyone is different. It made me really depressed and just stressed out, and I’m still feeling depressed as of now. I just don’t know what to do about it or even tell people about it. TBH, this is my first time talking about it."

For Birth Control "If you want a pill that ruins your life, then take this pill. This pill might be labeled as birth control, but it should also be known as the pill to give you the worst anxiety and depression you could ever experience. I am a happy, successful person who is mentally tough and can get up when knocked down, but not with this pill. This pill is a nightmare when on it and makes you feel like escaping your life (suicidal thoughts). I have never been suicidal in my life until this pill. I felt like I was going crazy and did not feel like myself. I sometimes would feel like myself, and then I would feel like I was going crazy. I went on it to get my periods back and help clear my skin, which it got my period back and sort of cleared acne (only on it for a month). I would rather have the worst acne ever for the rest of my life than be on this pill. This pill makes you paranoid about everything and made me sometimes feel depersonalization. I do not recommend! Save yourself by not taking it! 0 stars"

For Birth Control "Let me start off by saying that everyone reacts to birth control differently. Just because I had a negative experience does not mean you will too. Anyway, my pharmacist randomly switched me to Tri-Lo-Marzia one day after I had been on Tri-Lo-Sprintec for about a year (and was loving it!). Tri-Lo-Marzia is quite honestly the worst birth control I have ever been on. I hardly recognize myself on it. I just finished my first pack, but I have been experiencing the most severe brain fog, anxiety, and depression. I have to force myself to go out and do things, and I have a hard time concentrating when I do. My heart pounds after I walk half a mile, and it is hard to calm myself down. I have almost fainted several times because of the cardiovascular effects this pill has on me. Sure, it clears my acne and keeps my periods short, but this pill has started to make me worry for my permanent mental health. Be very careful with this pill."

For Birth Control "This pill ruined my life!! I’ve been taking it for about 7 months, and the first thing I noticed is my appetite was all weird, and I lost an unhealthy amount of weight in a short period of time, which then caused me to start losing my hair. I didn't think too much of it and kept taking it. Then it got worse. The past two months I’ve been experiencing heart palpitations and insomnia. My anxiety and depression were so absolutely horrible that I started contemplating suicide, which is something I never thought I would go through. I’ve always been pretty mentally stable, and this pill completely changed that. I’ve been off it for a week, and I feel 100x better. I do not recommend this birth control one bit. I’m so upset that I didn’t read the reviews before I started it."

For Birth Control "I would rate this a 0. The best possible description of how it’ll make you feel, which is scattered around a bunch of reviews, is “like you’ve gone crazy.” I’ve never felt worse than I have while taking this BC. I feel like it ruined my entire life. I suffer from anxiety and depression, and this BC has amplified both. I have panic attacks, manic spells, depressive episodes, and every single day, without fail, I contemplate suicide. I’ve never been this bad in my entire life. I also have indigestion, which, combined with IBS, is a killer. It kills your sex drive, makes you irritated, and bloats you, oh my GOD. 0/10 do not even prescribe to your worst enemy."

For Birth Control "I do not recommend taking this birth control. I’ve been on birth control for two years, and I’ve been on Tri-Lo-Marzia for a few months now. I started with Junel, and I had no side effects, but I had breakthrough bleeding, and my doctor switched me because of it. Tri-Lo-Marzia didn’t seem bad at first. I didn’t have a period my first month of taking it, and since then my period has been all messed up, either just spotting for my period or starting my period during the middle of my pack, still having breakthrough bleeding. My libido is still 0, I’m bloated all the time, I’ve gained weight in my face, and my self-esteem has been affected. I’ve never been depressed or had harmful thoughts before, but I do now. I’m hardly the person I was before I started this pill. I have an appointment to get a copper IUD, but it’s in a few months, and I’m trying to find one sooner so I can stop taking this birth control ASAP."

For Acne "This medicine quite literally ruined my life, to the point I thought I developed severe bipolar. I took it for about 2 years as a late teen, originally for my acne. It did half its job for my skin, but I definitely still got pimples regularly. On the other hand, I developed endometriosis after never having cramps before, had no sexual desire for my long-term boyfriend anymore (we eventually broke up due to this), became extremely angry and depressed, and I got nauseous almost weekly (even after multiple years). I didn’t realize how terribly the medication affected me until after stopping it— the “mental illness” I thought I had developed magically disappeared almost immediately. The only positives I have about this birth control are that it grew my boobs from an A cup to a C cup within a month and that I’m not pregnant (but I was still very safe, so I’m not sure I’d accredit that to the medicine). Everyone is different, but I would recommend anything else."
